BUMP for an ALL-NEW NECESSARY ROUGHNESS airing tonight on USA at 10 PM EST where Dani tackles a Defensive Linemen as her new client, TK and Ray Jay go out for a night on the town, Matt's old college roommate shows up and Dani's Mom gets in hot water with Nico!

I was really worried that the 'patient of the week' theme would devolve into this scenario: Patient has a problem. Patient is completely resistant. Patient gets a little help and declares self healed. Patient then has to be saved.

I think it would have been very easy to slip into this trap, and I think you guys have done a very good job writing, making sure that this did not happen. Excellent story line this time around, and way to keep the show fresh!

Just got back from Vacation and caught up on the last episode. Another great one. Both the wife and I are officially hooked.

Here's probably the biggest compliment I could pass along for you Cheese. I have a group of friends who have all been in the industry for years. Various capacities. Very knowledgeable and total snobs. They pick apart everything.

They've been FBing each other about how great the show is.

bump:

Tonight, on an all new NECESSARY ROUGHNESS: TK gets arrested, a poker player begs Dani to help him find his tell and an old flame comes back into Matt's life. (that's Cheesebeef's rather lame TV Guide summary of tonight's episode).

You know, the guy best suited for Dani would be Nico. I think he'd be not only great for her, but excellent with her kids. Just sayin'. Make it so, Cheesy!!!

Hey Cheese--How do writing credits work? I'm sure there's a room full of writers...but only two credits.

Also, are plots and storylines worked out in the room, and then scenes handed out to individual writers to flesh out with dialogue and action?

BTW--I didn't know that about having to watch the recorded eps within 2 days for it to count. I'll have last night's show on mute while I work. :raccoon:

Hey Cheese--How do writing credits work? I'm sure there's a room full of writers...but only two credits.

basically, when you see people like Consulting Producer, Producer, Co-Producer, Story Editor... those are all ranks of the writers on the show with Executive Producer being the head writers/show-runnners (my boss).

Also, are plots and storylines worked out in the room, and then scenes handed out to individual writers to flesh out with dialogue and action?

the way it goes is we begin the season with our macro goals... story arcs for characters from episode 1 to 12... then people start pitching individual episode ideas and if they're accepted, at some point, they basically pitch their episode to the room and with the room's help, collaborate to bring it from idea to fully formed episode. Then, once it's pitched out in the room, that writer is sent off to write like the wind.

I actually got this opportunity to pitch the season finale and by the grace of god, the Executive Producers liked it so I'll be co-writing the last episode of season with my long-time boss/mentor and I'm actually in the middle of writing the tease as i procrastinate here.

BTW--I didn't know that about having to watch the recorded eps within 2 days for it to count. I'll have last night's show on mute while I work. :raccoon:

you da best!

Me and my girl watch this every week on Wednesday night and it starts right when she gets off work. Really enjoying it Cheese, only a few lines here and there make Dani seem like she knows too much about everything. (Like how she knew the "color me up" phrase at the casino when she was leaving the table) Still great though

agreed that she can be all knowing, but in that case, her mom was a degenerate gambler which is why Dani knows how to play.

HUGE upswing today in our numbers from last week. STOKED.

That's what I figured you were going off of....just is a statement of someone that has gambled a lot and it caught my attention. But in all honesty when that's all that caught me as "questionable" in the writing for the entire episode....I think you're doin a damn good job and have a great show on your hands.
