Well. The Nets just traded Crabbe to Atlanta, got Prince back and ton of cap space. They also give up the 17th pick and a protected first rounder next year. The Nets now have space for two max contracts ( I did not verify the salary thing, just trusted the article).

I think this means they will keep Dinwiddie.

Evan Sidery, keeps saying if the Nets keep Dinwiddie, they will be renouncing the rights to D'Angelo Russell, IF big if) the Nets know they are getting Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. That gives us a shot for Booker to talk Russell to come here as a free agent. I have NO idea how that fits in our cap space.

The Nets people keep saying they want to pair Russell and Kyrie.

On June 14, Dinwiddie can be traded. At that moment a Josh Jackson for Dinwiddie straight up trade works. It saves the Nets about $6 million dollars. That trade would work well for both teams IMO. It would get them Dinwiddie for a net of $5 million extra or so and Jackson would not be missed. The Suns would feel more free to draft whoever they want and they would still have some FA money for a pf.

if they get Russell and Kyrie paired together, I'd think that Dinwiddie might become available. I'd probably deal Warren and Milwaukee's pick, maybe Jax instead of the pick to make it happen.

Here's what's REALLY frustrating. There are going to be A LOT of PG/good combo guards on the market at a MASSIVE position of need for us and we don't seem to be in any way shape or form good from a cap perspective to try and capitalize on it.

I REALLY hope we don't come away with Rubio. If we're stuck from a financial standpoint/franchise rep of having to go with table scraps at PG, I hope we at least make a move for Collison who can be an okay bridge player.

And I'm still scratching my head at the PGs who were available last off-season in the draft (SGA) and in FA (VanFleet) or to be gotten in trade (George Hill) that we either passed on draft wise for ANOTHER SF or just ignored otherwise.

Even Rubio would be an improvement on Tyler Johnson, and I am not a Rubio fan at all.

On the Suns podcast I listened to yesterday, the Rubio thing was dismissed because (A) he did not fit James Jones timeline. (B) Rubio was only rumored to come to Phoenix because of Igor. That obviously no longer applies.

Yeah, a year ago or so, it was a virtual guarantee that the Suns were going to pursue Rubio this off-season, solely because of Igor. Now, I just can't imagine it unless possibly they strike out on every one of the several better options.

I think we will come up with one of the point guards.

I do not think that Warren is a likely trade for Dinwiddie. The Nets need to clear a bit more cap to sign two max free agents. Taking back Warren will not do that for them. The only real choice they have is to let DAR walk. Right now the max space the Nets can get if they let everyone walk is $66.9 million. Max for Kyrie is going to be $32.7 mil and for Durant will be $38.15. So a total of $70 million basically. They need to clear another $4 million to get there. In that case, they would have to trade Dinwiddie for no return (basically) AND let DAR walk.

Of course, maybe they talk Kyrie or Durant into knocking of a couple million to make it all work out. It is going to be a fascinating summer.

Since they have DAR's bird rights, wouldn't they be able to go over the cap to sign him?

They can go over the cap to resign him but to keep his bird rights there is a cap hold that is roughly 1.5 times his salary this last season, so it'll be about $14 million or so. That will count against the cap like a contract would until he's signed and then that new contract sets the amount it effects their cap.

So. Here is the deal. They could trade Dinwiddie for Josh Jackson on June 14. It will save them 3.4 million or so. We could throw in the Milwaukee pick.

Too much to give?

BTW, Bucher said that Kyrie just purchased a place in South Orange NJ. 26 minutes drive from Barclay center.

Well, if he's going then the rumors about KD are probably true too.

A few years ago the Nets were playing in Newark and had no young talent or draft picks. Must be nice to have smart people running things...

At midnight, maybe. As a kid, I used to make the trip from West Orange to Ebbets Field. 'Took a couple of hours.

Not that it makes a difference.

Ownership change.

Ownership and location change. Going from NJ to Brooklyn and playing in one of the top arenas in the entire country helps. I've heard nothing but good things about Barclays Center.

The previous ownership traded Kyle Korver away on draft night in order to buy a copy machine and to pay for a summer league team.

Source for the copy machine trade...

https://www.slamonline.com/nba/kyle-korver-was-once-traded-for-a-copy-machine/

and

https://sports.yahoo.com/kyle-korve...-a-copy-machine--kind-of-204933792.html?y20=1

You can google "Kyle Korver traded for" and copy machine is the first thing that will populate to complete the search.

Ownership change.

Nah, it's the same ownership that had Billy King as GM and it was King that made the catastrophic Celtics trade.

They've turned things around by taking on young players that other teams rapidly gave up on and sold low. Their current GM has done a great job of finding bargain players. They also couldn't tank because they didn't have their own picks so they didn't need to stress about who got what minutes and if it might accidentally cause them to win games down the stretch. I would think it makes a coaches life a lot easier knowing the fans and talking heads won't crucify them for winning games in dead end season.

But... it also helps that they play in the East. It helps a ton.

Unfotunatly, this doesn't clear up if it is Kyrie and D'Angelo, or Kyrie and KD. If we knew KD instead, we would have a shot at D'Angelo.

A new investor(Alibaba billionaire) is in the process of buying. Purchased 49% of the team in 2017 and buying the rest over a four-year span. The Russian guy has backed out of day to day almost altogether.

Warren, Jackson, and Okobo for Jrue?

It works salary-wise. Jrue would probably be our absolutely best option at pg. Gives the Pels a proven producer in Warren, a player with potential in Jackson, and a young pg that is still intriguing to many in the league. I would hope we would not have to throw in picks, but I am seldom impartial in these scenarios.

Warren has decent trade value, Okobo has minimal trade value, Jackson might have negative trade value. The Pels would laugh and hang up.
