You guys are funny, arguing over who said what, red shirt, no competivie, and so on. Trust me, I like the banter and it brings more activity to the site but, damn, enough is enough. Who cares what he said or didn't say. DJ is yet again, another rookie in 2016. Hope he can win a starting job and not have it be a wasted 1st round pick again.

How in the world can you account for cheeses quotes then???

And you know, Mayock's role is draft analyst. What he says is likely conjecture. And if he said "redshirt" he could very well have meant that they drafted him with no intent of starting him for a year. That doesn't mean they didn't want him to develop as a backup. Or be ready to play during the year. You know that the pros, unlike college, has no benefit to a player not suiting up for a year? In fact, it just wastes a year of paying him rookie scale. Sorry to be snarky there, but I'm just incredulous that you continue to argue your point with the avalanche of evidence against you.

What exactly does anyone learn suited up, standing on the sideline and taking a game day spot better used elsewhere?

Sowell was the designated swing tackle and Arians made it clear near the end of the season, that he'd have no issue with placing DJ on the game day roster if injury required it.

Actually, quite a lot. Game day prep is an important component of being ready to play. But the larger issue is as you said, "spot better used elsewhere" than our first round pick.

Also, Sowell played 30 snaps with the base offense and 90 snaps on special teams. It's silly to think that Humphries couldn't have benefited from getting real-world film on himself and seeing the speed of the game, etc.

The argument that Sowell had more value as a "swing tackle" than our first-round pick who had spend training camp at RT and was practicing at LT with the scout team hold no water at all.

No water with you but a bucket full with Arians and Co.

How silly of them....
