Good lord. Does anyone like fresh french fries? Anyone????
I made french fries for dinner (w/sloppy joe's). Threw some bay seasoning on them because someone on here said it's good. I concur.

I just got back from a trip back East. While in Pennsylvania we ate at a restaurant that served french fries and gravy. My nephew ordered some so my wife and I could try them. They were absolutely delicious; the gravy was a clear brown type, and it was drizzled on the fries. In some places back there people dip their fries in gravy instead of ketchup.

That is also huge in Canada. They have a name for it that I can't remember but when I was in Whistler last year these were a staple of my diet.

I think its called Poutine; it looks a little different than what I had, it has cheese curds with the fries and gravy. It's not health food lol. The link says they serve it at Canadian KFC, A&W, etc.

Keep the cheese curds away from my french fries.

(until I try that combo and like it)

:yeahthat:

Cheese curds better be no where near my french fries. I am sure I could do the gravy though.

Long John Silver's was selling cheese curds last year--I don't go there too terribly often anymore, so I don't know if they have again since, but I tried them because, well, I'll try just about anything once. They were delicious. I could eat 'em with fries, no problem. I'm not so sure about the gravy (not a fan of gravy in general--yeah--too spicy ) but I'll try it.

I hate at LJS a couple of weeks ago. 3 chicken and 2 fish platter with extra fries for the slaw. Man I was full after that one.

I only see cheese curds in Wisconsin. I liked them when I was 14, and my gramma bought them. I always buy them based on that forgetting that I don't like them anymore.

Most place I've heard of this ordered as "Wets." Or having fries wet.

And it is freaking GOOOOD.

(not the canadian versions, the ones I have had in the US.)

JG will chime in and say they are called "Disco Fries".

What kind of gravy do the Canadians use? Sausage gravy and fries sounds really good about now.

I have had "Ghetto Fries" in Chicago.

1)Fries
2) Cheese Sauce (sharp cheddar like)
3) BBQ sauce
4) Gravy from italian beef (roast beef)
5) Grease that seems to be the grease from canned tamales.
