Derek Pegues - 4.62. I like him, too. :(
Brandon Underwood - 4.49
Chip Vaughn - 4.44
DeAngelo Smith - 4.56
Jamarco Sanford 4.48
Jerraud Powers 4.47
Lydell Sargeant 4.52
Donald Washington - 4.50. Didn't look right running and surprising considering his absurd vertical and broad jump. Why did this kid not produce?
Lawrence Webb - 4.36

Alphonso Smith must run slow so we can pick him at 31! He MUST.

....and he ran a 4.5 flat. Not slow enough, that's expected from him. But he shot out like a cannon - I like that.

Sean Smith runs 4.47. Niiiiiice.

Do you see Smith in the Cards' top 31?

He better be. In my pre-Combine mock I had us selecting him. Big, fast and a ballhawk. Where his money is going to be made is going to be on the coverage drills. If he shows good hips and feet he'll definitely be a lock for the first.

Second run of 40s....

DJ Moore - 4.58 and seems like he tweaked something. Not a good look for him at all, even though he seems to play faster.
Captain Munnerlyn - 4.44
William Moore - 4.53 (again)
Troy Nolan - 4.67.....? He must be a safety.
Chris Owens - 4.42!
Ryan Palmer - 4.57
Derek Pegues - 4.69 :(

Alphonso Smith - 4.50 (again). Deion compared him to Aaron Glenn. That's a decent comparison.
DeAngelo Smith - 4.60
Sean Smith - 4.50. That'll do, Sean. That'll do. :)
CJ Spillman - 4.45
Curtis Taylor - 4.59
The Bum That Is Morgan Trent - ran a 4.43 the first time, 4.46 the second.
Brandon Underwood - 4.48
Chip Vaughn - 4.40 - He's just moved up a round.
Donald Washington - 4.53
LaDarius Webb - 4.42

I saw some of the official times, and boy will some be disappointed.

Deion is getting frustrating watching the corners being flat footed during the backpedal drill and you can definitely see what he's talking about. It's funny.

DJ Moore was looking good until he almost fell on the turn.

Alphonso Smith almost fell, too.

Darius Butler, Alphonso Smith drew rave reviews from Deion. I think that's it for today.

It's been fun. The NFL Combine 2009 ladies and gents!

I'll post who I thought made and lost money tonight.

Awesome work Shogun. Thanks for keeping all the Combine talk in a single thread. This will be fun to read post draft and post season.

Jenkins 40 sucked, but his shuttle and cone times were good. This implies to me he would thrive in a cover 2 or a soft zone, but suck in man or deep zones.

Shogun you are the man. Thanks for doing this. I haven't really had the time to sit and watch everything and its nice getting a view of how people look as well as getting their numbers. Great work.

At a spot where we could really use the help!

before th combine started , i heard Kiper saying he thought Matthews had moved into the top 25 of the draft. Laurinitis didn't surprise me at all. I have said he's been overrated for 2 years now. Freeman looked surprisingly agile. He seemed to play a little stiff at OSU. I hope we can get McGrath in round 3. If hes' there, i wouldn't be surprised to see Michael Johnson as our pick at 31. He's the type of guy that Graves likes to draft. Guys that have fallen for one reason or another that nobody seems to know why. Campbell, Branch, Watson ,Pope, and Patrick come to mind.
Dont forget Leinart, Doucet and to some extent Dockett (fell due to off-the-field stuff).

Just wondering, i've been looking over some results of last year's combine, and from the results i've found on the internet, every position (i've only looked at WR, RB and DB though) looks to be a lot slower in the 40.

From 13 RB's under 4.5 last year to only 5 this year. From 18 DB's under 4.5 last year to only 5 or 6 or so, haven't seen the final results yet, this year. From 24 WR's last year to 20 this year (ok, not that big of a drop off there even though there were more WR invited last year). I know classes are different from year to year and the number of players invited at the different positions aren't always the same, but i find it a bit remarkable still.

Did they do a 40 meter dash in stead of a 40 yard dash this year? ;)

They're on a new track this year. That could play into it a little.

I am not saying Smith isn't a great football player cause he is, but he is not "big" at all. The knock on him is that he is that he may not even be 5'9".
