I think the Cards will go OL in round 1 and likely take OLB in round 2 as Jurecki has speculated. There are going to be some good options at 38 and one of the following 4 players will slide and likely be available. Who would be your choice/hope to be that player? All have question marks in ()

1- Demontre Moore- (workout, athletcism)
2- Sam Montgomery- (attitude)
3- Alec Ogletree-(off field)
4- Arthur Brown- (size)

My choice would be Montgomery. He brings size, skill, and athleticism to th position. He's being downgraded for being honest and saying he didn't give full effort versus lesser opponents, something most players do but won't admit.

I think arguments can be made for and against all these guys and I wouldn't be upset if any were the Cards pick at 38. Just interested to see who likes who the best and why.

Going by my eye test, the best player of the group I saw play all year was Ogletree. The games I saw him, he was better than Jones and all over the field. Watch the SEC championship and you see a high 1st round talent.

In MD's mock I picked Ogeltree. Guy can be a monster out on the field. I have some reservations bringing him on and pairing him with DWash in the troubles he's having right now though.

I was actually thinking of Tyler Wilson at the #38 spot as well. In the beginning of the draft process there were a lot of folks on the TW bandwagon.
Now that we've signed a 33 yr. old veteran, does that mean we should only be looking at late round developmental projects? If Wilson is around when we draft, I think we have to seriously consider that and let him develop for two years.

Packers still had Farve when Rogers fell to them in the 1st Rd. some yrs. ago. He sat four years before he got his shot. And boy did it ever pay off!

Wilson gives us someone to look forward to. And would only cost us a 2nd.

My latest mock had Werner falling thru the cracks. If not Werner, some other OLB may drop down.

I prefer Chase Thomas from Stanford in the 3rd round. Check him out. I see no negatives in this guy. Look at the youtube Notre Dame game he played. Very impressive. Reminds me of Junior Seau. The kid is everywhere.

Wener is a traditional 4-3 defense end. He doesn't fit here and he's not athletic enough to move to OLB. Arthur Brown is an inside linebacker if I'm not mistaken but I'm really high on him

I'd be happy with Okafor , Montgomery, Ogletree, Moore any of those guys really. I think they would all do well here

I like him alot and have heard him pumped up on Sirius NFL as well. No weaknesses IMO. Would take him in a second. In the 3rd :)

You think he'll still be there?

OLB in the second makes the most sense, but wouldn't be surprised if a BPA falls through the cracks, and becomes the choice.

If one of the top T-ends drops to us in the second, don't be surprised if that's the pick. Arians loves T-ends.

Give me Jamie Collins in Rd because IMO he's the guy who has everything we need...size, speed & the production we need at OLB!!!

The tape on him?---very hot and cold. If he's on the board at #69, that's a good spot for him because of his potential, but, imo, not at #38.

I want Matt Elam at 38 he would be our new AW, guy is a hard hitter and ballhawk. He has the potential to be an Ed Reed type of player.

That is a tough one because I would assume Okafor will be gone in this scenario.

I would say Moore but I was have to say it with the disclaimer that my mind can easily change from that pick.

Elam the safety or another offensive lineman.

In the dreamworld we would pick Chance Warmack in the 1st and Menelik Watson in the second.

2014 offensive line
LT: Menelik Watson
LG: Chance Warmack
OC: BPA
RG: Levi Brown
RT: Bobby Massie

Give me Arthur Brown all day.

2nd best OLB in this draft behind Dion Jordan.

I am with you on AB---and I would take him over Dion Jordan because AB is a better football player and he's tougher.

But, like you said, it's unclear as to where his best fit in the defense would be, whereas with Jordan you know he's a WOLB.

I think that next to D-Wash we would have a Navarro Bowman/Patrick Willis-esque combo. But I also think Brown could develop as the WOLB...hey James Harrison isn't all that tall either.

I dunno. I just watched him get almost completely locked up against Alabama and not do much against Washington. His get-off was the worst of the entire LSU defensive line--he was consistently the last off the snap.

I know you talk about skill, but besides a powerful opening punch and a bull rush, I don't see a ton of pass rush moves in his arsenal.

How is this guy an OLB in a 3-4? He's playing ILB in a 4-3 defense here. He looks really slender in this film. Same against Texas.

He looks like an ILB in a 3-4 defense. He looks like Daryl Washington. But as a 3-4 OLB? Mmm... No.

If an OLB happens to be the BPA at the time, then we'll take an OLB...

Projecting picks in advance is no different than drafting by need.

Keim, BA and anyone with an ounce of common sense know that BPA is the only way to draft successfully.

* With that said, Id prefer Larry Warford. Hes Warmack 2.0. But Id take a Passrusher or Arthur Brown specifically, sure.

Wow. Tell me what you see on that tape, and if it's everything we need. I see him getting knocked back 5 yards more than once by TEs, and getting pancaked by OTs. No bull rush.

He moves well in space and in coverage. In that way, he reminds me of a poor man's Dion Jordan.

He made almost 100 tackles 2 season in a row..he is considered affective against run and can put pressure with his speed.probably one of the few ready to play olb in 3/4 defense,.in 3nd round is a great option and i can see him also at 2nd

I'm not 100% positive but I think I read that he was playing dinged for much of the year. I'll try to find it and I coud be mistaken.

Actually, if he's there, Ogletree may be the hardest guy to pass up at that point. The Cards were out in full force at the UGA pro day but his DUI and earlier failed drug test may be cause to pass. He has the size, speed, pass rush, and coverage ability to be a great player. He was a former safety. Watch him on tape and he's the best player on UGA's defense.
