Palmer said he restructured his contract about a month ago to help #AZCardinals salary cap situation.

UPDATE: Hasn't been Done:

Kent Somers ‏@kentsomers ago
as has been pointed out, Keim has approached handful of players about restructuring, if needed. Palmer, Veldheer, Campbell among candidates

Darren Urban ‏@Cardschatter 6m6 minutes ago
So Palmer's potential restructure is in Steve Keim's back pocket if cap room is suddenly needed in FA for #AZCardinals.

This was rumored then quashed, now it did happen?

You'd think this would be a significant announcement from the Cards.

Evidently not enough to resign Dock or Williams

Yeah people apparently didn't read the whole thing.

We have an open window the next couple of years. Upgrade a guard, a center, grab a few solid defensive players, draft to fill in the remaining gaps and we could be right back in the mix. Maybe this year we will be relatively healthy to make up for last year....

Clearly, NOT the same ol' Cards...

Over the years, we have watched (enviously) as players on other teams have offered to restructure their contracts for the betterment of the team and we questioned out-loud...WHY can't our guys do that?

Clearly, things have changed in the desert.
A new "oneness" has emerged...."Team" is no longer just a word bandied about.

Mark in SC :)

I like this guy more and more everyday, he really wants to win!

Palmer is awesome !!!

I don't think you guys understand what "restructure" means here. I wish that if my boss paid me 90% of my entire year's salary in one day, people would look at me and say "this guy just wants to have the best company he can."

It's pretty clear that the Cards' financial situation has improved where they have cash available to pay out these huge restructure bonuses, but that's pretty much all it means about the player or the team.

In another post I stated that Palmer could do the following:

Palmer is signed thru 2018 and has a 9.5M roster bonus due this month.

Switch his Roster Bonus to a Signing bonus and spread to over the remaining 4 yrs.

Cap savings of $7.14M.

Now if Veldheer restructures his contract here is a good way to do that contract.
Switch 5M of is base salary into a signing bonus.

Cap savings of 3.75M.

Campbell's will be a litter harder to figure out so let see what happens.

Maybe not AP but Keim has some options if needed to get more cap space. They can be as aggressive as they feel they need to be to get whomever they really want.

I think people are underestimating just how much money is going to be available around the NFL. The Jets, Raiders, and Jags all have in excess of $50M in cap space, I think. Tennessee and Miami have a ton as well.

Yeah having a ton of cap space didn't get Oakland or Jacksonville any top tier FAs last year.
