CB Darius Butler released by Patriots after club was unable to trade him - should be a hot commodity on waivers.
Butler could be a great addition, would be a better replacement than Adams as the nickel CB. Please Horton, get this guy!!!!

If those teams pass him up, which is highly unlikely, it would be foolish of the Cards not to sign him. He's still young, and has a lot of experience.

He's better than Adams, Marshall, and Lindsey. That's all that really matters lol

Saying he is better than Marshall is highly debatable only started 5 games in his career.

I agree. I've watched him a lot here in NE, and he's slow reacting to plays---he has physical skills, no question, but they have not translated yet to the pro game and he got the best DB coaching in the league with Belichick.

Based on what? Simply because he played for Belicheck doesn't make him "better"...
However, like any player released by another team, the fact that he dosnt play for the Cardinals makes him better.

I definitely wasn't suggesting him to be a starter, but from what I've read about Marshall on the Panthers board, he gets beat a lot, and isn't consistent at all. Adams is physical, but he gets taken advantage of far too often because of his size, and Butler would be an upgrade in terms of size and athleticism.

Based on the fact that all three of those CB's I listed wouldn't even make it on the practice squad for the Patriots, I'm sure you can agree on that? No one said he was a pro bowler, I'm just stating he's better than a few of our CB's at the moment, nothing else...

Adams and Marshall have started and played in more games than Butler will most likely ever see... I know squat about Lindsay, but, you're dead wrong on Adams and Marshall.
Not saying that Butler can't become better one day. But, he most certainly isn't better right now.

The Panthers have claimed third-year cornerback Darius Butler, who was waived by New England earlier today, according to a league source.

Being #1 on the waiver wire has its advantages.

Also, for as great as the Patriots are at stockpiling picks, their draft record is starting to look a little shaky. Their team still looks good, which is all that matters, but they've cut a lot of high picks over the last couple of years.

People act as if the Patriots are the greatest drafters ever, when really they get the same number of good players/contributors as every other team.

While they draft on the same level as most teams they also have twice the number of draft picks as others teams which allows them to miss on more picks than anyone else which in turn allows them to end up with a better overall draft than the rest.

True, plus it allows them to cut bait on a player a bit earlier than many franchises do.

You also have to look at how many long term veterans they have. If you have a 7 year starter at RG and a 3 year backup at RG its going to be really tough for any RG they draft to make the team.

One thing having 12 draft picks gives them is the ability to take a flyer on a guy like a RG in my example above in hopes he may turn out to be even better than the two guys on the roster.

I don't know exactly what it is, but there's something the Patriots, Steelers and Eagles are doing that the rest of us haven't figured out.

Since 2000:

Philly 8 ten plus* win seasons and 5 Conference Title games
Pitt 7 ten plus win seasons and 5 Conference Title games
NE 9 ten plus win seasons and 5 Conference Title games

*ten plus means 10 or more wins

Like everyone else said, we're a little late.

Additionally, we're late on time. All starts on Sunday, very much doubt we're still in the running to grab anyone whod be an immediate starter.

They don't even have better drafts than anyone else. Their 2006-2008 drafts were pretty damn bad, 2009 was mediocre, and 2010 is when they actually had a draft that could possibly live up to the hype.
