This guy bleeds Cardinal Red.

Until I hear him say the words.... I cannot, and will not, believe it.

Chad has been spewing venom in the media for over 2 months now. Boldin has done no such thing.

No, it's not like that.

It's not like that in baseball either, for that matter. A 10 and 5 player in baseball can veto trades or waiver acquisitions.

I think you're right, for some reason i thought they could request trades also

I would quit on football for about a year if this were to happen. I wouldn't be able to stomach it.

Agreed.

I am sorry but this makes me want to puke. This franchise has held Boldin on a pedestal since he got here. He is adored by the fans, respected by his teammates, and is the face of the franchise.

His statement about wanting a trade and no longer wanting to be a Cardinal is a spit in the face.

Wilson and Dockett can get in that bus too, and all three can get the heck out of town. It is disgusting. The greed, and selfishness is insane.

Say what ever you want about Fitz, but he never said he didn't want to be a Cardinal, he said the exact opposite. He earned his contract, and he honored the length of the contract.

Dockett is one year in, Boldin is signed till 2010.

Man I hope I am jumping the gun and I am completely wrong, and Boldin comes out and says this is a mistake.

But it sure doesn't sound like that is the case. What kick in the balls! What disrespect. I am soooooo mad right now. This is so unfair. The Cardinals have been good to Boldin. They offered to up the contract mid year and Boldin shot it down and then waited for Fitz to redo his contract, then less than 2 months later demands a frickin' trade?

He obviously wants out of AZ if that is the case. Which I cannot understand since he has been treated with so much respect by AZ.

Unbelievable. I feel like a friend just stabbed me in the back.

Schefter's been known to be wrong or embellish a story in the past. It's kind of coincidental that this story come out the night after there were confirmed trade offers for Johnson. Schefter could have easily called Rosenhaus for a story and Drew gave him one. To me, it's a non-story.

I think it is very much so a story and is correct. That is just something you dont make up. Saying a player went straight to the coach and asked to be traded. That isnt an Agent calling up the front office that is a player talking to a Head Coach.

Plus a lot can be said without saying anything at all. Urbans blog mentioned the NFL network report and he didnt even try to deny the report. In fact he goes on to mention that Boldin has let it be known he wants more money, and states, "Did Graves leave the door open a little? Sure,..."

Graves even had this veiled comment when asked about it, "Now, if at some point we recognize it's in our best interest to consider a trade, we would do that," Graves said, "but we haven't arrived at that point." Like Urban said Graves left that door wide open.

He is without a doubt on this team this season, but if a new deal cant me done by the next offseason I think Graves will be true to his words and he may feel it is in their best interest to CONSIDER a trade.

If he shows up to the mandatory camps and continues showing up to most of the voluntary stuff I dont think it becomes an issue until next year.

If this report is not true then Boldin himself has got to squash it sooner rather then later.

From Urban:

I, like many people, have been hearing the recent trade rumors about Anquan Boldin. It has popped up a couple of times on profootballtalk.com, and those guys in Dallas won't let it go either -- and they shouldn't, because the Cowboys are clearly making behind-the-scenes rumblings about trying to get him. Then my friend Kent Somers tried to quash the talk with a short and simple interview/article with Rod Graves, with Graves saying Q isn't going anywhere even though teams have called.

Now I am hearing that both ESPN and NFL Network are airing reports of the teams that have called, and in a couple places I have read that NFL Network is saying Boldin requested a trade.

Look, we've gone over this before. Boldin wants a new contract and has let that be known. He has also been a steadily appearing at offseason workouts. He isn't going anywhere. The Cards know he wants more money and I believe they will try to get a new deal done. He is too important to this franchise -- on the field and off -- to toss away in a trade. Did Graves leave the door open a little? Sure, but I am guessing so he has some wiggle room. But be assured, there isn't anyone in this organization that desires Boldin to be traded. They will do everything they can to keep him happy.

I guess what i meant is kind of what i said in an earlier post. It's a non-story until next off-season. THen it will become a major story because he will not play under that contract for 2 more years.

To me this doesn't make any sense. Why would Q go to Whis and say he wanted to be traded if this was a ploy by Rosendink to get a new contract? The Cards have already said they would like to give him a new deal.

The thing I would speculate from this is either the numbers that have been discussed aren't in the ball park of what Rosendick thinks Q's services are worth, or Q really wants out of AZ. In which I would think it's the numbers.

This game is losing its appeal to me because of this crap. Seriously.. there has to be a better fricking way to handle contracts in this league.. Like has been mentioned before.. until a bunch of under performing phat contract guys start demanding to restructure to a lower salary, these "I want what he got" guys can go eff themselves.

Looks like Schefter's report was partially incorrect. It was Rosenhaus making trade demands for Q and not Q himself

http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/sports/articles/0423boldin0423.html

The trade talk is more than just rumor, however. Boldin wants a new contract in the neighborhood of Fitzgerald's. Boldin's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, recently asked the team if it would be willing to trade his client, according to Cardinals officials.

The Cardinals said no, nor do they plan to allow Rosenhaus to seek a trade.

"Anquan is a quality person and a great player," Graves said. "We're hoping we can agree on a longer-term deal."

Graves went on to say the trade request is not a new tactic for Rosenhaus. "We have not heard that (trade request) from Anquan," Graves said.

Another interesting tidbit later in the same article...

The roots of the trade talk extend to last summer, when Boldin and Rosenhaus met with Graves and coach Ken Whisenhunt to discuss a new deal. Rosenhaus, according to the Cardinals, made a proposal, and the Cardinals countered with one in late November or early December.

That offer, Graves said, would have put Boldin among the five highest-paid receivers within three years.

"Drew did not respond to that proposal," Graves said. "The proposal sat with him over a month. I called to ask him if he was going to respond, and he said he was going to wait until Larry Fitzgerald (contract) was done."

This is the difference between Drew Rosenhaus and ethical sports agents like Fitz' agent Eugene Parker. One thing I will say is that like him or not, Rosenhaus gets deals done, and this one will get done eventually IMO. When it is very hard to say. But I suspect Anquan is next in line after Karlos Dansby.

Oh, and the situation is not the same as with Chad Johnson. I have yet to hear Q say he won't play for the Cardinals this season.

Good Lord people, look at this logically. All we know for A FACT is that Rosenjag asked the Cards' about a trade. Boldin has said nothing and it has been confirmed that he's been attending off-season workouts.

To me the NFL has changed. Here in Chicago it seems the same thing is happening to the Bears. Players are lining up outside the door to extend their deals.......the only thing is the concept of gentlemanly conversation isn't exactly the blueprint for these talks. Agents are sensationalist. . :)

Rosenjag is good at what he does because he knows how to scare up these over-embellished stories to put immediate pressure on the franchise. Pretty soon even this scare tactic will become desensitized and they will conjur up some other way to get their shock value.

It's all smoke. The guy is piece of **** but I'm sure his clients love him. Boldin isnt going anywhere. Order of signage.....

Dansby
Boldin
Wilson/Dockett

Better make sure graves has his pencil sharpened, cuz ******** he has alot of work to do. He might want to consider an asst. GM

It's just a move by Rosenhaus to get a new contract. I don't know, I guess some might be shocked by it. But, I've expected something to happen all along. I never bought into the "selfless-just-want-to-win" stuff that people were saying about Boldin when Fitz' deal was in the works.

Agreed, when the Fitz negotiations were ongoing I made the point then my biggest concern was losing Fitz over money, my 2nd biggest concern was the impact it would have on Boldin wanting a new deal. First concern was ultimately resolved, now we're in concern 2 mode.

This is why players hire Drew Rosenhaus and this is how Drew operates he will say anything that he thinks helps his client get a new deal.

It doesn't even look like Rosenhaus demanded a trade. A million different things could have happened and Schefter could have reported it incorrectly. Not making it up, getting it wrong. Remember the game where you sit in a circle, one person whispers a short story and everyone whispers it to the next? The story is never the same in the end.

Picture this -
Anquan: "Coach, if you guys won't pay me why don't you trade me?"
Whiz: "Don't worry Q, we'll take care of you."

Story told to "source" - "Anquan asked coach about being traded."

"Source" to Schefter - "Anquan told the coach he wants a trade."

oh i could def. see that being the case here but this whole thing just doesnt make any sense to me. If graves ultimately knew Q and drew were going to be like this why wouldnt he prepare beforehand......ANNND yes I know about the Nov/Dec contract proposal that was turned down.

but to me if your agent come spouting off comments like this its because there hasnt been any contact/talk.

Truth be told ladies and gentlemen......We need to start drafting very well so that we can flip these players and continue to replace it with young talent ala Pittsburgh

Edgerrin James, you are due to make $6.75m this year and there are 28 other starting running backs I'd want on my team before you. I would rather my team have Rudi Johnson, Tatum Bell, Darius Walker and even Thomas Jones. Only Julius Jones, Cedric Benson and Lendale White are worse in my opinion.

Matt Leinart, you are due about $6m this year. Perhaps if you stay healthy and can start to understand NFL defenses, you will be worth a fraction of that money.

Q's contributions are above both of these guys. I say, Arizona should cut Edgerrin and send his salary to Anquan Boldin. Arizona might want to get on the phone and deal Matt Leinart, too, if that's what it takes to keep the best receiver in the league on the team.

The draft is like Christmas for fans of all underacheiving teams. It's their playoffs and Super Bowl rolled into one. Teams get some tubular gifts on Saturday and will take them out of their packages in the near future. However, my Christmas has been ruined by the news that Boldin wants to leave. For me, there is no soldiering on with the Cardinals if Warner remains benched and Boldin is dealt. I have no contract with this organization and I only started rooting for the Cardinals when they grabbed my favorite player, Kurt Warner and had a player I was intrigued by who became my next favorite, Boldin.

I now really love a lot of the team and I felt like with more than half of the top 6 players on the roster injured, this next season held great potential if everyone stayed healthy. I was also psyched for a revamped running game. How supremely disappointing it is!
