Love it.

I like the statement made by this organization. They wanted Larry Fitzgerald to be "a Cardinal for life". And they did just that.

I think Fitzgerald is worth every single penny. I could care less how much they put into a QB, and Larry Fitzgerald. That is the point. That is the Cardinals advantage.

See just last night, when he caught, yet another "routine" amazing catch.

Very very very nice day to be a Cardinal fan.

Other than Fitz , is there a happier person than Chris Johnson right now. Say what you want, he's more valuable to the Titans than Fitz is to the Cards and he wants paid. Fitz's contract will give him leverage.

Its like a ham and Egg breakfast, The chickens involved but the pig is committed!

were looking at nearly 28 million a year, 68 million guaranteed the next 5 years on Kolb and Fitz.

Just less than 25% of the salary cap on 2 players, FITZ is proven and Kolb could outplay his contract.

It is a great thing, AW, DD is now our money on D, everybody else will go elsewhere or play for less.

Fitz now has GM powers cause He will have to restructure, like he was willing to do for Kurt and Q, to make a big move.

there is nobody I trust more with that power.

AW wasn't even mentioned this week? Fitz is now right up there with him as lifelong Cardinals, with their eye on the ring of honor.

All of this, and you're bad at math too. How surprising!:mulli:

I think that in the scheme of things towards the latter end it'll look smarter than it does now, not that I'm saying it looks smart now.

Cause I'm not.

I'm guessing Desean Jackson also has a smile on his face right now. He's no Fitz, but in his mind, he isn't far off.

Apparently Reggie Wayne is disgruntled and wants a new contract too. :)

As of right now you dont like it?

I'm glad he's staying.

But honestly it's too much for a WR, but in the bizzare world we live in it's probably not that bad, given the fact we can easily waste money on dud FA's.

So if you're going to go for broke and given today's NFL for our team it's not that bad, but it's not a good sign when a team does something like this IMO.

No team should ever have to pay that much of their cap for one WR, it's not the optimum move.

For one thing WR's get injured too often to ever pay that percentage of your cap to one.

He's not a QB who can play with a bad wheel, one hammy pop and we're screwed.

Conrad, somehow it seems that Fitz is more than just a WR to this franchise. To me it's almost like a message to the long suffering fans and the entire NFL that the Cards have finally decided to come to the party.

This just somehow feels different to me

The alternative would have been much much worse

HAd he not re-signed, you would be able to hear a pin drop at UofP during game time.

:D

Wait until Calvin Johnson chimes in. He's up for a new contract in two years. I have a feeling the Fitz contract will come up in Johnson's negotiations.

CONGRATS LARRY!!! He deserves it!!

Did it cost a ton? Sure.

Would it cost more if he left after the season? Absolutely.

Nice little video of OUR Larry Fitz ...

1. have/love seeing the Super Bowl catch.
2. think there are even better highlights out there than these
3. interesting that a lot of the highlights come from playing the Eagles

That's awesome JG!! Man.... everytime Kurt dropped back and looked in the direction of Fitz, ya just knew something great was about to happen. Those two were MONEY!!! Hope Kolb can find that magic!!

I agree, and we were already paying him 10 million a year, this is relatively not that bad.

However, good teams do not do this.

I predicted that we'd resign him and overpay him to do it, and we did, it remains to be seen if it'll come back to bite us or not but I was pretty sure this was going to happen.

With the new cap floor starting next year, these contracts (in $$$, not years) will be run of the mill. I can't believe we just locked him in for another 8-9 years. That is great.

And upcoming new TV contracts yet to be negotiated of which will make the salary cap skyrocket more then we have ever seen. Percentage wise that is. Teams would be smart to lock up their superstars now if they were smart.

15 Mill per year contracts will be very run of the mill, very soon for guys other Fitz and QB's.

Will Fitz ever be the type of guy who sits out in training camp because he's unhappy about his contract?

That's possible but they haven't been negotiated yet.

The economy isn't doing the best, I'm not so sure they'll skyrocket like that.

People always say this and I find it odd.

Because two years later the contract ends up looking cheap, after the cap rises 20% and there are 20 other players who aren't as good with similar contracts.

Me too. There's a difference between overpaying for a free agent that's old, or unproven, but I'd say it's nearly impossible to overpay for a superstar player who's in his prime.

Agreed, with the rookie cap in place more money is going to go to the vets, their salaries are going to escalate.

Estimates regardless of economy are already out there, including a new Thursday Night package which will be in the Billions.

It is money already in the bank. It is why the super rich owners didn't put up fight at all in their new revenue sharing plan.

Not only do the owners know this is coming so do the players, and its why they fought for the salary cap floor to go into effect in 2013, when all of the new TV contracts will be in effect.

Football is bulletproof and the reaction and current seasons ticket sales, NFL Ticket sales, and preseason viewer ratings prove as such.
