What people who are hating on this pick DONT get (and my guess is they have been too locked up just reading scouting combine results and draft reports rather then watching games) is that he is perfect at that slot for these reasons:

1) Never Fumbles (Problem for Mendenhall and Williams)
2) AMAZING at Pass Pro which is HUGE for Arians (Which will make him 3rd down back IMO)
3) Ultra Durable - which again is HUGE with Mendenhall and Williams on roster

Trust me on this. Speed means nothing for this type of back. Yeah his 40 is terrible but he is smart, big, with good hips, as well as the above mentioned traits.

Love this pick Future Jerome Bettis IMO if he gets in Lotts strength program

This.

I fist pumped the air about ten times when I saw the pick. LOVE this kid.

Bodha, who is your "source" for better players? His tape looks very impressive. Is it possible your hearing from an agent who has an agenda?

A couple of things:

1) Only a handful of RB's in this years draft class ran sub 4.5 40's. Kenjon Barner ran a 4.52 and he looked fast on game film.

2) Taylor's quick feet and power will help him pick up big chunks of yards.

3) This wasn't the best RB class, no RB's in Round 1 and only 3 or 4 before today, so I think the Taylor pick was a real good one.

4) We took Andre Ellington in Round 6 and he ran a 4.6 I believe.

This is a great pick... Lattimore would've been nice if card could have done it, but this kid is way more talented than a fifth round pick!

The guy shows good speed on gameday and despite being big and powerful has some pretty nice lateral quickness and agility. Add the ability to catch passes and pass block and I like the pick.

I agree know nothing of him other than what can be gained from highlights. He seems plenty fast. Looks like he's running a low 4.5 in the video. Maybe that's because it's PAC 12?

Good college back. Will struggle in the pros. No moves and slow. He was a product of Stanford's run game. Alot better backs were available.

He's not breakaway fast, and he's not a break ankles "wiggle" back but he's very reliable, he makes people miss just enough to get by them. Tough kid, he's one of those if there's 3 yards he'll get 4 type of back he isn't going to break long ones but he pushes the pile and gets tough yards.

Loved him in college but he's a power run guy so you have to use him correctly.

He looks like a quality back. Good vision, good balance. Runs hard. Sort of reminds me of Shipp.

Another nice pick. Productive in every area and all the draft gurues had him as the best pass blocking back in the draft. I loved our 4-7 round picks. I think we did a better job late than in the first three rounds.

This was the one selection I didn't like. Well other than taking an Aggie WR. There were better players available. As well as two better RBs in Randle and Ellington.

I think the Cards whiffed on this one.

Tony Jefferson signing as a UDFA makes up for this mistake.

Yeah...should have picked Jefferson and let Taylor be a UDFA....that's some draftin right there.

I'd be all over it. Jefferson, Rambo, any of the others I listed. Taylor was a huge mistake. A wasted pick. Thankfully it was a 5th round pick and so easily corrected.

Of course you probably thought that signing Al Johnson for millions was a much better move than picking up Lyle Sendlein as an UDFA.

I still would've taken Johnathon Franklin over this kid anyday of the week.

He wasn't available when they picked Taylor. By this logic I would have selected Tavon Austin over this kid every day of the week.

Draft is about pick and value. Taylor was immense value. I may have taken Franklin over Watford but will trust Keim.

No it isn't. It's about getting guys who can play football at the NFL level in your system. Who cares if you get a guy rated a 2-3 round player in round 5 if it turns out he can't play. Which is what usually happens.

Taylor isn't a bad player though. I just think there were other guys with the same level of talent at their positions who could have helped the Cards more.

I didn't mean he's was available at that point, sorry for not clarifying. IMO the Cards would've been a better team in 2 years taking Franklin instead of Okafor & Quan Smith over Taylor.

IMO Franklin will have a much better NFL than Taylor & Smith has more upside & pass rush ability to dominate than Okafor.

Totally agree Duck. I love watching them sports sites redrafting each player & round 3 years later to a differant team.

I didn't say I don't like him but I thought we could've helped out team more in 2 years & the future with Franklin (4th) & Quan Smith (5th). Okafor is either good or invisible all the years I've watched him...IMO he's basically Sam Acho though less consistent & steady...high peaks & very low valleys.
