Official Pirates Site Launched
Source: Walt Disney Pictures
May 30, 2006

Walt Disney Pictures has launched the official website for the highly-anticipated Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, hitting theaters on July 7th.

http://pirates.movies.com/

At the site, you can view trailers, learn about the movie, get downloads such as desktops, buddy icons, e-cards, the movie poster and digital trading cards, as well as play games, view the gallery and the world map.

The world map takes you to scenes in the movie in which you'll have to "plunder" items in order to be able to open the chest of Davy Jones at the end for hidden items.

What?
Can't wait to see this. Kierra is a pleasant bonus too.

Found this interesting from IMDB.com;

"The film was such a success that Disney closed the Pirates of the Caribbean attractions at Disneyland and Disney World to update them. The new storyline of the attractions will be that Captain Barbosa is chasing Jack Sparrow, both of which will be added in the form of animatronics. Disneyland plans to open their attraction at the same time as the sequel is released, Disney World will open its new attraction on 7 July 2006."

I love the ride. My dream is to jump off and live amongst the Pirates someday.

If we could just get rid of the Yellow Jerseys.

No no no. And they are gold, not yellow. And the others are Forum Blue, not purple (even though it is actually purple...shhh).

You can call the gold ones the Golden Armor, if you wish.

Boy, we've got a long way to go here for this pretend conversion.

Whites are only worn at home on Sundays or major holidays.

Like Goldenrod?? I've got a couple goldenrod shirts that I like to break out during the week. Usually black tie and black slacks. All goldenrod would make me look like that whiny droid from Star Wars, though.

BTW--this is actually awesome. I've never picked a team before....I just root for the hometown. Good times, hopefully.

Saw 2 this morning... Personally I liked 1 better but my wife liked this one better... Overall pretty good... I may have been in the wrong frame of mind but I did not get overly into this story and it seems more like an attraction at Universal Studios than a movie...

Good, not great....

I loved this one. It lived up to all my expectations and it had an AWESOME twist at the end. The movie definitely ends on a big cliffhanger.

I enjoyed the movie as well...it was a fun romp, although it was about 10-15 minutes too long, I really, really had a good time.

The fight on the island with the three guys, the mill wheel and all of that...was just hilarious and SO well done...

I like the idea of the end and the next movie finishing this story...should be fun.

Right dead on target, sir!! 4 1/2 out of 5 stars on this one!

For the 48% of the critics who didn't like it, I'm very sorry that there was a lot of great action and tremendous special effects and gorgeous cinematograpy and that you actually had to pay a little bit of attention to keep track of what was happening. IDIOTS!!!

My favorite part was when they were escaping from the "natives" while still trapped inside the giant ball.... It was a live version of a very funny loony-toon!!

One tiny problem..... a small part of the dialogue was difficult to understand, especially the "cajun lady" (sorry.... didn't know what else to call her).

Anyway..... every bit as good as the first one and perhaps better..... and it certainly lived up to the hype!!!!    1/2

There should be a Pirates Spoiler thread to discuss for those who have seen it.

I was just mildly disappointed. Not enough of Captain Jack, too much of other characters, and repetitive silliness rather than being creative. How many things do you need rolling downhill? Plot line was fine, and it was a very entertaining movie (I agree, about 15 minutes too long) but not a classic like the first one.

I saw it yesterday and really liked it, as did my girlfriend and a friend's 15 year old son. Now I have to watch the original again because there were some things in this one that I didn't remember from the first one.

Very entertaining.

Apparently it broke an alltime record for 3 day earnings as a movie opener.

This was pretty much how I felt... I was starting to feel like the Grinch after reading these reviews and hearing the ones on the news... The repetitive silliness is where I got the Universal Studios stage show feeling and the wheel scene was just extendedly obnoxious, great for the first few minutes...

On a related note... I had made mention of one of the last remaining real theaters here by me, and with this movie we went to go see it there, I really only see one movie a year or less and really prefer to see it as it was meant to be seen. Well we got to the theater, 16 total, 15 mini's and the massive one... It was Saturday and the massive one was sold out until Tuesday (tomorrow) and it was playing in two of the mini's... We had to do the mini theater... I just don't understand why they don't see this and get rid of the miniplex garbage... Every new release is like that there... Everyone waiting to get into the real theater and hardly no one going to the miniplex showings...

Yeah, we went to the Cine Capri -- bought tickets days in advance online, stood in line for an hour ANYhow, and still got poor seats. You're right, every new big-time release starts out like that, and it always seems to be fairly full, even after a flick has been out a week or two -- at a premium price, no less. I wonder why Harkins doesn't make a 'Cine Capri south' or something.

We went to an 11am matinee, bought tickets on Fandango.com, walked right in 25 minutes before it started and to my surprise there were at least 60 people in the theater already. Got good seats still but I knew right then it was going to be a huge weekend for that movie.

I went and saw it at a normal theater. I will see it at the Cine Capri this week during a morning show.
