If it's some overpaid guy who does nothing, like Ray Thompson, sure by all means show them the door. If it's a key core young player, I would hope this is not an irreconcilable situation.
Every team in the NFL has this issue, but when you're trying to rebuild a franchise the LAST thing you want out there to potential free agents is players are not happy with coach Green. If it's hey he works us too hard wanting to win, that's one thing, but if it's he's just a power hungry tyrant who rules with fear(whatever Dex's quote was I forget), that's NOT a good thing for others around the league to be hearing from Cards players.
I was listening and felt that he did some backtracking as well. Bickley likes controversy to give his take meaning. So there are a couple of malcontents on a 4-9 team. Big suprise. IMO there are several Mac players that were kept because there was no one else available to replace them. That will not be the case this next off season. With another draft and a FA period we will see a new set of players that DG can mold without the extra baggage. I would say that this is going to be a really different team next year. A speculated list of guys that will be gone are Shelton, Clement, Emmitt, King, Spikes,Jones, Player, Williams, Shipp, Hodgins, .......on Defense I would say KVB, Bryant, Davis, Thompson, Woods, Hill, Starks, Ronnie Mac, Ohalate, and Koladje. Alot of these guys are under contract for next year so we will eat some dead money but we need to rebuild this team. I will not be sorry to see most of these guys go.DieHardCardFan said:MJ like usual kinda backed down after he opened his fat mouth. He first said several Vet. players told him they will be marching up to Greens office and demand a trade, guys that are under contract for awhile. Then he changed it to "at least a couple", then it was "at least a couple will ask to be traded, but several are going to ask the coach to be straight with them as to where they stand".
One thing he said that he has been told by players, which I do not doubt is that they dont trust him to tell them the truth about anything. This is probably true and is a real problem if it is true. It is one thing if he wants to mislead the media, I have no real problem with that. But to mislead or lie to your employees, well sorry but that is wrong and unethical. I dont care how sorry the team is performing, you dont BS your employees and expect them to perform better.

There are a ton of people that would do anything to have the opportunity that these(if this rumot is even true) malcontents have. It's just like any other job. You don't necessarily like your boss, but you still show up and do the best you can and hope the company can be successful.

IMO Shipp will never again be a featured back and Player is to close to the union situation. He is a very good punter....but he is a punter. We can find another one. Our special teams have sucked this year even with his punting. IMO no way does Shelton or Clement come back. Even as back ups. On D I would like for Hill to come back as a backup. He is a gamer. KVB, Ronnie Mac, and Davis are Mac guys that no longer fit the quick defense scheme Clancy is putting in. I wanted KVB to work out because of his work ethic but the time has passed. The other to will not be back. As was posted alot of these guys don't need to be fired they are not under contract for next season so they will just be let go because they don't fit here.DieHardCardFan said:I dont see Shipp or Player going anywhere. And I would say either Shelton or Clement will still be around as backups.
And on D, I doubt Ronnie, KVB, Davis or Hill will be going anywhere. Starks, well he is a bit to high priced to be injured so much. When he has played he has been great this year.
I did not realize we gave Ohalate a new contract. He has no guarenteed money on his existing contract so he IMO will be gone. Can someone confirm we reupped a contract with this one hit wonder. He is terrible and Yes I realize that alot of them are FA...I was just saying IMO they would not be asked to return to the team with a new contract.joeshmo said:Ohalate is not going anywhere, we just gave him a new contract less then a month ago. Emmitt, Spikes, Jones, KVB, Hill, and Mac dont need to be fired you just dont offer them new contracts as they are all FA's.
As for the 2 guys MJ is talking about, guys who will tell Green to trade or cut them, my guess is Ray Thompson who is still fighting with the team to get the rest of the bonus we withheld when he signed a new conract then got suspended 1 week later. As for the other player I have no idea.

Thanks Joeshmo, I did not remember him as being extended. He would be a decent backup but he is not fast enough to start and he is a terrible tackler. You are correct that if we do not Tag Wilson or sign him long term Ohalate is the only saftey under contract. I don't think I would want to pay him $1mil to be a back up however.joeshmo said:http://www.arizonasportsfans.com/vb/showthread.php?t=41782&highlight=Ohalete

Although the Zellner and Hambrick ones were nullified by the league.
And no matter if he hads no gaurnteed money or not he is not going anywhere or Green would not have given him a new contract in the first place and not to mention he is still a good backup material at the least at a good price and he is the only S currently under contract next year.
