agreed. I love Kurt Warner, and appreciate everything he did for this franchise, but Peyton Manning is likely the best QB in my lifetime, possibly ever. I would love to have him in a Cards uniform

The problem is...I'm quite sure he won't be healthy we he's cut or maybe not even when TC starts! Still worth the gamble? When you're having problems with nerve endings IMO that's a major problem. I'm quite sure Peyton couldn't even pass many team physicals if any. I'm really not sure the Cards will roll the dice with some $$$ (he's gonna get something just to sign), cut Kolb & pin their hopes on uncertainty of a player even playing.

I still say the smartest & ultimate decision will be that Mannings retires.

Let's say come the end of February that Peyton Manning is cleared by doctors and deemed 100% healthy to continue his career and Indy is looking to trade him. I doubt Indy takes anything less than a 1st round pick. If you're the Cards would you give the #13 overall pick for him? Or do you wait for Indy to release him? Trading for him eliminates the competition and guarantees you get him, which is always a good thing with the way the Snail handles free agency. The downside is you absorb his contract and give up your first round pick. The upside is you just became very strong NFC contenders for the next 3-4 years.

Peyton is to much of a risk and would cost to much. Who would not want one if not the best QB ever to play football? Sure I would like him but not for $27 mil or so with a neck fusiion. He is not going to sign for one year and a 3-4 year deal is really a monster deal considering what we just paid for Kolb. If we had not taken the 62 mil Kolb contract we would be better off and might afford what Peyton would cost. I just do not see Peyton coming to the Cards. He wants a ring and his signing will be more about a ring than money.

1. No organization other than Indy will be paying Manning's 28M bonus. If he's released then he'll negotiate a new deal with some team. With whom and how much, no one knows.

2. The Cards can walk away from the Kolb deal at any point. He has rec'd a 10M bonus and 2M in salary so far. If they pick up his 7M bonus in March and plays to the end of 2012, he'll have a rec'd a total of 20M.

If they walk away from the deal before March the contract will have cost 12M... NOT... 62M... and the Cards are free, if they choose, to pursue Manning.

30 points? That would have been a feast for us. The Cards went over 21 points only 5 times and scored less than 21 in half the games averaging 19 a game! They only averaged 18 a game in 2010.

Goofy Cardinals. Scored 27 points or more only 3 times in 2011 and lost two of those games.


OT: How the heck did the Giants make the Super Bowl ranking 25th in points allowed in 2011? Just goes to show that in today's NFL Offense sells tickets and Defense doesn't win squat.

I'll take a great QB over a very good defense any day in todays NFL & I'm 100% sure I'll win nearly 70% of the time. IMO there's no such thing as a great defense anymore! Look at the last 8 Super Bowl winners...all QB's are stars & soon to be 9.

That only applies to the AFC where either Brady,Roethlisberger or Peyton play in the SB every year because other than the Ravens the rest of the AFC sucks. Meanwhile 12 different QBs have taken their team to the SB from the NFC the last 15 seasons. That's a lot of star QBs.

Just think the NFC QB with the most SB appearances the last 15 years is Kurt Warner with 3. Amazing what having great WRs like Torry Holt,Isaac Bruce,Anquan Boldin,and the Alien will do for you.

We heard the same things last year...had another surgey & missed the entire 2011 season. Until he's suited up, in camp or throwing in some form of real football I'm very skeptical.

Agreed. There seems to be a lot of "inside sources" attempting to downplay Manning's chances of playing and/or playing well. It reeks of the Colts doing damage control before his release.
