Yes, in recent weeks, after looking deeper into Mayfield and trying to project his prospects as a pro, I have become skeptical. You are right on in thinking that I am concerned about him being a fit with Wilks and McCoy---and to me that answer is a clear no. After watching Mayfield at the Senior Bowl, I liked his arm, per usual, but I started to realize that he's not fast or quick enough to escape the kind of speed and pressure he will see in the NFL.

Imo, it doesn't help his cause that he sent some scathing tweets to NFL Network's Bucky Brooks in response to some of Brooks' concerns. Some might laud this as Mayfield's competitiveness...but I see it as an on-going maturity issue.

aj maccarron was prone to twitter wars leading up to the draft also.

Drew Brees aint the quickest guy... just squirrely enough to buy himself time to throw... I think Mayfield will have the same style of play...he obviously is not an athletic running QB like Jackson

just like so many others his success will largely depend upon where he is drafted... in a lot of ways I think the critics are what drives him, what fuels his competitiveness...keep in mind the kid walked on to two major schools and worked his way to starter for both of them.

napoleonic complex with a huge chip on his shoulder...he just needs to be channeled for a couple years until he grows up a bit more.... if he were drafted by the saints and sat behind Brees for a couple seasons...dude would likely come out of that as a hall of famer... Brees being so low key would be an excellent mentor for him.

Haha Brees is not low key especially before a game. But he is mature and would be great mentor for any qb.

I was thinking more "off the field"... Drew is a family man and a community guy, very soft spoken... I dont think anybody wants to temper Mayfields fire while on the field

You are right, i was just having some fun as I love how Brees pumps up the team before a game. He is really special.

if we traded for him,...we could tag him... the Eagles wont have the right to tag him if they keep him... the wording of the contract voids the contract if he is on the eagles roster on the 23 days before league year 2019...if he is traded, the last three years of his contract kick in... at least that is my understanding of it... I am assuming any trade would come with a new contract for foles.... that contract was designed so the eagles could spread the cap hit but Foles was not locked in to the eagles for more than two years

I think because it means the Eagles need to get something for him now or they won't be getting anything for him later.

Got it. I just never considered them using the franchise tag and trading him in 2019. If he gets traded it will be before season while his cap hit is only around 5 mil.

I agree for the most part, but the numbers can be deceiving. If a QB has to run for his life often, he'll be throwing plenty of balls away just to avoid the sack, or balls batted down. If he has poor receivers there could be plenty of drops, his style of offense that team runs could affect the numbers. So because the numbers are so arbitrary, it is possible for a QBs numbers to inflate or deflate when they arrive, but neither of these indicate that their accuracy is better or worse.

I agree that’s why my favorite QB in this draft is Lamar Jackson. His WRs, if I remember correctly, dropped 15% of his passes.

it matters because folks think the eagles wont trade him right now. They will. His value is high and they have no control over his future beyond this season.so, he will be traded...most likely very soon too.

Agree, his value won't be as high after the coming free agency and draft. Teams will have filled their qb need by the time training camp opens.

You do the trade if he is willing to sign an extended contract. When Keim was on the Dough and Wolf show he said if they make a trade (for any qb) they would need to include a signed contract extension as part of the trade. I believe that the Redskins have done this in the trade for Alex Smith with the Chiefs.

I'm not the biggest fan of Keim, but I'm 99.9% certain he's not that dumb. That would be gross negligence for any GM to give up a 1st for Foles.
