If our offense is decent next year, but our D can't keep anyone out of the end zone, I will laugh. A lot.

When the Cardinals finish 8-8 this year and the O does a 180 I'm going to come back to this thread and chuckle.

8-8 a big season for Cardinal fans. :( I'll come back to this thread and chuckle if the Cards finish 11-5.

I just want to know what Michael Bidwill's fascination is with Pittsburgh.

Reminds me of his father picking up Dallas players and coaches.

Oh well. 5-11 with 'em and 5-11 without 'em.

A prelude to the interesting conversation, Ray Horton apparently called Steve Keim a quote "Lying P.O.S." and said he had no integrity. Horton said he was promised he would be a serious candidate but feels he was used only to satisfy the Rooney Rule.

And yes, he wants out.

You can take it for what it's worth if you choose (I really don't care, so don't whine about the credibility), but his source is the truth and has never been wrong. He called the Bevell interview hours before it was leaked the other day too, btw.

Yeah whatever!!! With this offense? :biglaugh:

Who's going to turn the QB situation around? Kolb...Skelton...Lindley...or Hoyer?

Who's going to run the ball? Tripping Wells...Broken legs Williams...too small LaRod?

What about our bad Oline? Turnstile Brown...Hippie Colledge...No Push Seindlein...Roller Skates Snyder...Sophmore Massey?

Keep dreaming!!!

It's the questionable logic behind the firing of Whis with the hiring of Arians that makes the least sense. It literally is the equivalent of saying, "Whis, we love your offensive strategies, it's just you that we don't like!". Then add to this the collateral damage of losing Horton. There's no way around it - it's a really screwed up "change". Can you honestly come up with a legitimately positive spin on this? If you actually can, I'd love to hear it.

This post made me think back to 2007 when the Cards let Leonard Davis go and then passed on Adrian Peterson to draft Leonard Davis. May not be as bad as the poster wrote but just another reason why you gotta love Cardinal football.

Blame Rooney and the NFL for the racist rule. It is an idiotic rule to make black coaches feel like tokens. I'm surprised that it is even in place.

But I don't think that there is enough evidence the Cardinals used him as a Rooney rule requirement or not.

The guy might not be ready for a HC job.

Agreed. Without Horton.

Next year is 2-14. Gonna have to hope for Bridgewater in 2014, and some success that year.

Without Horton, it is gonna get ugly....really ugly.

Nothing we have never seen before......just gotta hope it is like the 2011 Colts, and not the 2000 Cardinals.

I'm so glad so many of you are railing this guy and the Cards front office before Arians and Keim even have 1 day together. It's funny how so many in here went to bat for Whisenhunt when it was painfully obvious he lost this team, yet are already blasting the decisions made today before FA, the draft and one game is played.

Yes it sucks Horton is gone. Big time. But let's be honest. He had one year left and he was gone anyway. If things are contentious as being reported would you really want him around as DC with a pissed off attitude around players like Peterson and Acho who will be up for FA soon bending their ears?

Let this all play out before going all ape**** in here.

So Horton is only worth 3 wins?

If this is the case, then Horton is a moron! Nobody gets 2 interviews, to just be a token. A token interview is 45 minutes, over lunch at the Olive Garden.

There's no way around it - it's a really screwed up "change". Can you honestly come up with a legitimately positive spin on this? If you actually can, I'd love to hear it.

1. Needed to do something. If Horton keeps the defense as is, or even better, and the offense doesn't improve then you are what ? 6-10 ?

2. Bruce Arians, I am luke warm on the guy, but he is the guy Keim wanted to work with. Keim and Bidwill are wet behind he ears. Bidwill, I am convinced is lost right now. Keim, if it is true he faced off with Horton, is trying to make this his team (as he should). If this is what he wants, then let him have it. Bruce Arians has experience, and a lot of it. Bidwill wants a head coach, and GM working together. I think experience is needed in that room, and Arians will provide it.

3. Change is change. We may have lost Horton, but the domino effect that started it was getting rid of Rod Graves. .......again, NO MORE ROD GRAVES. I think that is HUGE. Addition by subtraction is sometime the biggest addition.

4. You are a Cardinals fan. You have been through worse. The last guy had 6,7 & 9 game losing streaks, and if you think back to those two good years, we got blown out A LOT. Yeah, we got hot and went to the Super bowl, but we didn't win it. Why ? Cause we forced the Head Coach to keep our defensive coordinator, who loved that "prevent the Cardinals from winning defense". Dave McGinnis, Denny Green, Jeff Blake. This is a walk in the park so far. 2-14 ? You know what if we do go 2-14, at least the Cardinal finally get the high draft pick and Bridgewater as our QB.

.......yet leave no doubt, to lose Horton would suck.

IF he were not to fix the offense ? Yeah. I believe that.

If Horton improves the defense, and the offense stays as is, I would say 6-10 tops. Why ? Cause if it is the same as last year how do you expect different results ?

From day one the question on Horton was what he would do offensively. I am not saying he would be a failure on the offensive side of the ball, just stated how far he could take things if he JUST improved the defense.

Say Horton finds a QB, and can get the offense from causing turnovers returned for TD's ? You are talking 7-9 or 8-8.

Say Horton finds a way to have the offense average 17 pts a game, you are talking 9-7 or 10-6......maybe more.

Who knows.

What sucks ? I think a combo of Arians and Horton would make the Cardinals competitive next year, even in their tough division. 9-7 and 10-6 area.

With a defense that good, a little offense would go a long way!
