I hate the Jazz, much worse taking on the Jazz trash to save money and lose draft picks.

I bet they will tell us about Handlogten being the next Voshkul.

When they say "future" 1st rounders, what does that exactly mean?

Is it necessarily a bad thing? Or, will it interfere with this summer?

Ben Handolgten is not listed as having any minutes on a size starved Jazz team. Other than some kind of accounting issue to create balance using his $366 K salary, it makes no sense.

Dave, Salt Lake CIty: With the Jazz trading Deshawn Stevenson for Gordon Giricek and Keon Clark along with Ben Handglogten for Tom Gugliota and two first round picks, how did they fare this morning?

Chad Ford: (1:08 PM ET ) I like what Utah did here. The picks are huge down the road and Giricek is a nice asset that they'll consider resigning. It's also big for Phoenix because of the luxury tax money that they'll save on the deal. As far as the Magic go, I have no idea why they made this trade. The must see something in Stevenson that Jerry Sloan didn't.

He says they are future picks, so who knows what the deal actually is.......

Handlogten has a deal for just this year. He'll probably never even put on a Suns uniform. He is included as another way for the Jazz to get more out of the deal financially.

Do/did the Magic have Bird rights on Giricek? Maybe the Magic were worried that they wouldn't be able to afford to keep him. Stevenson is on the standard first-round pick contract and will be an RFA this summer.

Well this is officially sucks, my respect for Jerry has just gone down a notch. This does nothing but saves money and hurts our future. Why couldn't he get rid of Eisely or White? This trade is terrible!

OK. I'm definitely not happy about this trade. I was really hoping that the Suns would use Cleveland's draft pick to satisfy the San Antonio trade for Barbosa. I can't wait to hear the Colangelos rationalize this trade to the public.

This is the first trade the Phoenix Suns have made recently that I just can't find a way to justify. I mean to even know for sure that there will be a luxury tax this season? I made it almost seems like a myth that owners use to keep from spending money. It's an old wives tale. It's like telling a little kid he'll go blind if he masturbates.

The luxury tax is Kaiser Seuze! :)

Seriously though, this deal had better save them a lot of money.

Come on

1. It definately can't be our own this season, because it is bound to be top5.

2. I doubt it is New Yorks which could be lottery also.

3. We can't trade our own future picks.

Leaves...

Forever protected Cavs pick - Should be paid next year already. Worth depending on how much the Cavs improve next season with James.

top20-24 New York pick protected through 2010. Not worth much unless the Knicks suck all years and end up with a lottery pick in 2010.

How does this trade suck? You don't know the exact details.

Relax.

I guarantee one of those picks is one of the 1st rounders for this year. PHX doesn't have any room for 2 first rounders.

Plus, PHX just saved themselves from not paying the luxury tax.

I'm just hoping there is more to this deal. The early reports on the Marbury deal did not include Lampe and had other things wrong as well. Let's just hope.

But Sly, as Joe said, we aren't even sure the tax will kick in this season......

If one of them is a first rounder for the summer, I would only be pissed because that was our bribe tool to get the Cats to pick up Eisley or White.

Well according to RealGM, the jazz may be getting Stephen Hunter as well

We have room for 2 first round picks unless we sign like 3 FAs this offseason which seems very unlikely.

Amare, JJ, Voshkul, Vujanic, Barbosa, Zarko, Lampe, Marion... I don't see anyone else who I would definately like to have on the roster next season.

How does this trade (as is) significantly alter the Suns plans for this off-season?

It doesn't!!!!

Geez, you'd think that PHX just sent Amare for Raul Lopez.

Shawn Marion + trade exception for Pierce or McGrady or something, that is what I am hoping for.

In the next hour and a half? No freaking way.

It would be better if Jacobsen would go to Utah as well and Giricek to Phoenix.

But I am not sure Giricek is better than Jacobsen
