I went to Guitar Center and bought a heavier pair so that I don't have to hit the pads as hard. I can't whail out like I can normally though with the lighter ones, afraid I will break something.

Yeah, the pads aren't the problem, they seem to be built very well, but that stick snapped right in half. Bastard went flying...could have put out an eye.

I hear ya. the heavier ones seem to work better, especially on the quicker notes. I just like the lighter ones, because I can really whail on those freestyle/big rock ending parts.

Yeah, that's when I broke it...the crash on the overdrive freestyle.

Does anybody know if the ones I have seen on the shelves are of the same quality as the ones that come with the kit? I thought about picking them up or buying a real pair. However, I didn't know if buying a real pair was such a smart idea on the drum kits.

I picked up 2 real pairs. The ones included are "real" drum sticks. They shouldn't be any different.

Oh, the sticks that you get with the RB SE kit are size 7A, the smaller the number, the heavier the stick. I have a pair of 7A's and a pair of the heavier 5A's.

Fortunately, if my thinking is straight, when it breaks it should fly away from the tv, and not towards it. You can live without an eye, but having a stick in the middle of your tv would really suck. :D

OK, cool. I will have to pick up another pair it sounds like sooner or later.

They snapped like a pencil. Think I'll try getting some 5As

Bad news gang, the Rock Band guitar went out on us. The strummer only works going up, which is ok for easy and medium, but impossible on hard. Plus, after searching the net a bit, it seems this is a pretty common issue. But, good news, EA/Harmonix/MTV has a support site up and is making it extremely easy to get a replacement. In fact, supposedly, 2-day express is a shipping option free of charge! I hope you guys don't have any problems, but just in case, here is the site.

Some people have had to wait for their guitars, and I guess they are receiving free games for the hassle. So in my case, I'd be willing to wait a little if we get a free game! Here is the game list:

Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars
FIFA Soccer 08
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Medal of Honor: Airborne
NASCAR 08
NBA Live 08
Need For Speed: ProStreet
NHL 08
Rock Band
Skate
The Simpsons Game
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08

So, who knows, maybe we're lucky our guitar is bad?? I'll keep you posted.

Ours already went out--exactly as yours did. Very frustrating, but we got SO lucky in that we had the replacement in hand in less than 5 days, I believe. DCR will correct me if I'm wrong on the timeframe, but I do know it was very fast.

I tried to get a free game, but because my turn around was 5 days, I didn't get one. If you really want to try and get the free game, do not use a credit card and the expedited option.

So, DCR & I are playing Rock Band last night, and we get a mystery set list. I've graduated to medium on the guitar, but I'm not that great. Highway Star by Deep Purple comes up. Nick says it's going to probably be too hard for me. I've never even played it/heard it before. So, we decide to trade & I'll attempt vocals since that's a smidge easier for me now (on some songs).

I got booed off the stage. Got saved. Got booed off the stage. Got saved. Got booed off the stage. Song over. :(

So I jokingly stand up & tell him he can do both; I'll hold the mic for him. He looks at me like I'm crazy for half a second...says he hasn't sang this one yet either, and the guitar is CRAZY hard on this song on medium. Then he decided to go for it.

Five stars.

:notworthy

I told him I don't know if I should hate him or be his groupie (not quite what I said, but you probably get it).

I finally had some good competition (against myself) on a song. I was playing Suffragette City (Bowie) on hard. Man that song is uber quick and has a lot of weird notes in it. I had to play it about 20 times before I was able to beat it. All of the other songs on hard, I was able to beat without failing, or only failing a couple of times.

So what exactly is a Mystery Set List?
