How many years has he been talking about making the big trade for a star?
I'm not saying its an easy task but it is his job.
How are the Suns a better team now than when he took over?
And even if they have improved incrementally, have they improved enough?
Remember, we're about to set a franchise record for years without a playoff appearance.
Ryan McDonough was hired by the Suns on May 7, 2013 so there is that. IMO, it is much too early to evaluate him. He tried to find a star in Brandon Knight trade which I think the jury is still out on him.
There was the drafting of Alex Len in 2013 draft and TJ Warren in the 2014 draft. Also there was the drafting of Devin Booker in the 2015 draft. Sure they missed on Archie Goodwin and Tyler Ennis but these things happen. The jury is still out on Bogdan Bogdanovic. Overall I view the draft as a success under McDonough.
The Suns added Leuer (for a 2nd round pick) and Mirza Televonic as a free agent plus Ronnie Price. Plus there was the signing of Tyson Chandler which almost helped the Suns land Aldridge. Overall I think these were good acquisitions with the exception of Sonny Weems. Let's not forget Dragic and IT wanted out but the Suns received three first round draft picks in their departure.
I think the Suns are taking swings at the plate trying to find a star as in their pursuit of Aldridge.
Yes, I think the Suns are improved with the exception of PF (Markieff) and SF (Tucker). Hopefully the Suns will take step towards correcting these issues before the trade deadline.
