Go back and check the early returns on Bender. Everyone here said he had a sweet shooting form, and it was only a matter of time before it started going in consistently.
Nobody said this, people talked about his IQ and how fluid he was for his size.

yeah... there were a FEW people who talked about Bender's "sweet" shooting form, but it wasn't the majority of the board and again, the thing people talked up more than anything was his "Basketball IQ" and that he could be good defender at times. and here's the biggest difference, Cam's are ALREADY going in and that's what people are saying. He's shooting 40.5% from 3. You bitched and moaned he wouldn't even get his shot off. So why don't you just admit you were wrong for once about something and move on.

it's a baseless comparison.

They talked about his IQ and his shooting stroke. Fluidity, or lack thereof, has always been one of Bender's greatest weaknesses, as it is with Cam.

I actually said he had to rush his shot in order to get it off in the NBA, and as a result his shot would be streaky and erratic...and that is exactly what has happened. We will be 6-8 one game and 1-5 the next.

Guys the construct of this team is all James Jones. He acquired nothing but below the rim players (other than oubre I guess). The “power” players he’s acquired that get minutes have been saric, kaminsky, cam. Not a single one of those guys can guard a stank much less intimidate in the lane. And this was adding to a known non-threat in the lane, Ayton. Banged on the lack of athleticism in the preseason and unfortunately that’s come to fruition.

To be fair this team wasn't expected to compete this year. We got our expectations extremely high due to how we started this year.

Dario and Frank were for the most part bandaids.

Indeed. Still doesn't erase the fact that this is a very poorly constructed roster, and that the GM who put it together doesn't have the awareness or intellect to recognize that.

Ty Jerome has scored 42 points on 47 shots. His shooting has been gawd awful so far. I realize he’s a nice guy who’s hard to rip on but he’s 22 years old. I’m a bit surprised Okobo has looked like an NBA player in stretches. I would’ve dumped him over Melton in real time.

it's so sad we drafted Ayton to cover ALL OF THE ABOVE, with the 1st pick in a loaded draft... and yet there's a lot of agreement that his addition to the team, likely won't alleviate the problems we face.

I mean, it should NOT be asking too much that the first pick in the draft, who's got the body of a greek god, be added to the team in year 2 and turn the team around.

Ayton is not a defensive center now. Maybe he can develop into one but his strengths are shooting, scoring and rebounding. This was known going into the 2018 draft. In time he should be able to carry the Suns.

He was expected to need time to develop while contributing now. Except for the suspension and injury he has done just that. Ayton's upside is still huge but the Suns need a rim protector beside him at least until he develops those skills.

It's not Ayton's fault the Suns did not put a power forward next to him to accentuate his talent.

This is how Tankathon evaluated him.

Over the course of two offseasons the Suns have failed to even try to fill that obvious hole. The failure to pursue a rim protecting, athletic, banging power forward to pair with Ayton is becoming as egregious as McD's failure to pursue a starting point guard was.

Maybe you should give Jerome more than 9 games. No one ever said he was a starter.

He started the season off the injury list so it has taken him time to get up to speed.

True on the first part. They exceeded expectations and have now settled back into last years winning percentage. So other than the hot start. This team has made no ground. Great.

mans bandaids or not, this team’s construction is this team’s construction. A bunch of nonathletes, oubre, and a guy with crazy athleticism who doesn’t have the dog in him to use it.

I will but I haven’t seen anything to project he’s an NBA player yet. Again he’s an older rookie. Cam at least has some length and projects to be a sharp shooter.

I don't know why you chose this game to dump on Jerome. He had one of his best games as a Sun last night. His outside shot is pure and his floaters aren't bad either. He displayed some good defense as well.

Agree with every sentence here except the last. His defense was putrid, which is why he had the second worst plus/minus (with the only worse one being, you guessed it, Cam)...

I wasn’t hence the season stats I listed. It’s just on the Suns forum we usually turn game threads into something that doesn’t have to do with the game directly.

I prefer to actually see what the team is like when there isn't a ton of injuries and no one on suspension before judging them. I'm weird that way.

This team was thought to be a team that would have around 30 wins this season. That's about what they are.

Jones has done a solid job making this at least look like an nba team on the upswing with the barren roster he inherited

Roster is only slightly less barren now and has offset gains in skill with loss of athleticism...

But injuries and suspensions occur. That’s a real world. How many teams have had their full compliment of players consistently all season? Likely few. So waiting to view a team in a vacuum seems, I dunno, unrealistic.

We haven't had a full roster the entire season. Asking for a few games isn't asking the world here.

Is there still work to be done? Of course but at least I see a light at the end of the tunnel here

Only if James Jones can recognize his mistakes and learn from them...

I think Jerome projects to be a sharp shooter as well not to mention his ability to distribute the ball. They have some overlapping skills in regard to shooting.

You haven't shown you're capable of doing that, why would you expect someone else to?

I actually have, even if you are unwilling to recognize it. See, e.g., Oubre (where I left the board for 3 months), Morant and Baynes. Besides, I don't get paid millions of dollars to comment on this board or to put together a roster, and fans aren't spending millions of dollars on tickets to see the product that I assemble...

If I were to do in my profession the equivalent of what James Jones has done as a GM, I would be sued for malpractice. If I were to fail to learn from that and keep repeating the same mistakes, I would be unemployed...

Out of curiosity, what is your profession?
