49 free throws in the opening half. 28 by San Antonio.

Duncan has been impressive. Dallas have NO WAY of stopping him this series.

I'm really getting into disliking Dallas. I don't believe they could win without acting and tricking the officials into bad calls. I sure hope these officials review the film form this game to see how bad they were duped.

Man! Mavs just hung around, and finley gives them the lead... then duncan misses a go ahead jumper.

gotta give credit to Dallas' freethrow shooting. I think they've missed 1 out of 50. Thats not to bad.

Nice to see another Spurs homecourt collapse. Up 18, but lose it in the end.

And that is why the Spurs will never be truly "great"

Smart play by the Mavs. foul Duncan and don't let the 3 occur.

gotta say 49 from 50, from the line is unreal.

they had 29 field goals for 113pts.

I hate close tight officiating. No flow to the game.

97 free throws in a game is ridiculous. I wouldn't mind if they got rid of the free throw actually. with all the regular timeouts, tv timeouts..fouls, free throws, violations...it's just ridiculous...

Suprised noone mentioned - the foul on Van Exel that refs gave Mavs 3 foulshots, when it should've been 2. Without that call, the game would've been tied with 4 secs to go Dallas with ball. Most of us are all Suns fans and Spurs got all the calls against us so....

It shouldn't have even been a foul. VanExel jumped a long way to his right to "draw" the foul..... It was a no-call or maybe an offensive foul.

That's what I hate about Kobe,

he fakes, the defender jumps up, Kobe jumps into the defender, puts up a shot, and draws the foul.

I remember that's one of Barkley's specialties. And he does it so well too and makes the shot almost every time.

noone on the spurs has any desire to take a big shot. their last few possessions looked like they were playing 'hot potato'. whoever held the ball at the end of the shot clock flung one up at the basket and it was usually Tony Parker.

through the first 3 1/2 qtrs I thought the Spurs might sweep. Then in the last 6 minutes, I started to wonder if the Spurs have what it takes to finish against an offensive team like the Mavs.

SA got the shaft.

That's all I have to say.

How? If they didn't miss 17 of their free throws, they win this game.

SA is known for choking at home, this was just more of the same.

:biglaugh:

So did you hate Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Dr. J, Jerry West, George Gervin, Charles Barkley, Alex English, Bernard King, Kevin McHale, and all the other thousands of players that did that their entire carrer?

Man, you must really get a hard-on for Kobe to bring him up in a thread that had nothing to do with him or the Lakers, especially when it is about something that almost every great scorer in the history of the league did all the time. Let it go, dude!

Did that offend you? If it did I will edit it. I didn't mean to take his name in vain or anything. It just absolutely blows me away that out of nowhere someone can take any subject and use it to say 'and thats why I hate Kobe Bryant!'

I don't like Kobe

But that move is smart basketball. The defender should not leave his feet.

Sure the offensive player is technically initiating contact, but the fault ultimately lies at the feet of the overly aggressive defender.

It couldn't really offend me because it's up to you to word things as you like - it's just an issue that came up here recently.

We were discussing why people use the name of Jesus as slang.

I guess I never thought of it as a slang, as much as a point of emphasis. I have never been very religious but I guess I see th point. I will now edit it. :D

That's not always the case. Let's say that the defender jumps towards an offensive player, but could land in front of him without causing any contact. Then the offensive player jumps forward to initiate contact where there would otherwise be none. This is a cheap basketball play. Maybe it is smart for that offensive player because he's guaranteed to go to the free throw line (especially if he is a superstar in the league), but it's still a cheap play.

Now if the defender jumps right on top of the guy and lands on him without the offensive guy moving at all then I think it's a legitimate foul, but when the offensive player is causing the contact it should be an offensive foul. Kobe does this constantly, especially at the end of quarters, and always gets the call.

Just my opinion......

It all depends on your point of view. I personally feel it's something that detracts from the game as well as the flops that all of the Dallas team have been coached so well at. 50 free throws with many coming from flops and then when VanExcel jumps into a defender who is trying to get out of his way, the fouls on Bowen,...... I'm sorry, but that sucks and I can't say it's something I enjoy. If all the players in the NBA played like Dallas', we might as well match up with the WWF like Malone did for fun.
The game of bb is changing; some people will like it , some won't. I think we might as well watch the WWF as to watch this type of bb. The word skill has been redefined and it's my opinion they have screwed up the definition.
Sometimes it makes a big difference to people if the team they are rooting for is the one streching the limits of the game. In this case I started out hoping Dallas would win the series, now I'm a confirmed SA fan for this round.
