is that the ****** gunslinger that beat you a couple weeks ago and has taken his team to the playoffs 3 times in the last 5 years while Alex Smith has never gotten there once? you put Romo on that team and they're a legit Super Bowl contender. As of now, your a playoff contender, but a complete Super Bowl pretender. Alex Smith will only get you so far. Ask the Jets about that.

BTW go look at Trent Dilfer's numbers back in 2000 and compare it to Alex's 2011 numbers. Dilfer was lights years behind Alex and the Ravens still won the SB.

HAHAAHAHAHA what is Romo doing in Dallas right now? their defense is almost as good as us and they have more weapons on offense. According to you Romo >>>>> Alex Smith right? they sure don't look that good to me.

BTW we lost to them cuz of a blown coverage (WR running free) in OT and before the game tying TD, Romo was sacked only to get called back by a BS offside. AND we also played WITHOUT Crab and Braylon Edwards that game.

Again, who won that game? Really, the niners have one loss and you have nothing better to do than go on the Cardinals' site and brag about them? You should be enjoying it. But you look like a fool posting crap on this board. We are the Arizona Cardinals with one win this year and you are the 5 time Super Bowl Champions and this makes you feel better? Get help while you can, you are one sick puppy.

Alex Smith has become a starting QB in the NFL in the system they have adapted him to. He is not great and a little above average, but that is good enough to get you into the playoffs with that defense. As far as getting to the Superbowl, would be very difficult with Smith.Crabtree? He is the complete bust on this team in my opinion for where he was drafted

WTF is gohard still doing on this board? His bet terms were to keep himself to the smack shack, and that alone. Hell, I relented on the terms enough to allow at least THAT. It was originally begone and never come back.

Freaking welch. You guys are encouraging it too. SMH.

And Romo beat you with broken ribs throwing to a WR that hadn't caught a pass in the NFL before that game.

I agree that Romo tends to screw up in the big moments of games though he's a better fantasy QB than he is a win games QB.

I'm not buying it..
Alex Smith doesn't have the receivers or the tight end that Romo has.
The only thing that Alex has that Romo doesn't....is a elite running back.

Vernon Davis?

Dallas doesn't have the defense the Niners have.

its close between Vernon Davis and Whitten..but I would take Whitten route running over Davis athleticism.
I agree that the 49ers have a better defense...but Dallas defense isn't to shabby either.

Funny thing is I've been on this forum as long as you. I didn't just sign up in 2011 to brag, what are you talking about? Most of my posts have gone back to when the Niners were a joke.

they also had the second greatest defense of all time. are you saying this Niners d (while good) is as good as the second greatest defense of all time?

Vernon Davis is better than Whitten and Romo has put up numbers with drek such as Roy Williams and T.O... or when he's lost Austin (like he did against you) and Bryant.

Dude's not the most clutch guy in the world, but he's MILES ahead of Alex Smith, who's a caretaker at best and has never accomplished even leading a team to a winning record, much less leading them to the playoffs.

Elite running back, better TE, better O-line for Romo, who shown the ability to play with whatever WRs placed outside the numbers = better shot of winning than with Alex Smith.

you do realize you have a much better running game and the Cowboys have been without Austin and Bryant for entire games and long stretches of others, right?

And again, the next time Alex Smith leads his team anywhere near where Romo has (and who beat your ass... in your house... without his best WRs), maybe you can talk. Until then, you got a great defense and Trent Dilfer/Shaun King for the Bucs. Good luck with that heartache (heartache I as a Cardinal fan would gladly take, but you're fooling yourself if you think Smith is the ultimate answer at QB).

Gohard don't add fuel to the fire. Not everyone will share your optimistic view on Alex Smith. Just the way it is.

In response to the OP. Yes this finally looks like it's just the Niners year. Harbaugh has totally rejuvenated the franchise.

I disagree
and Romo has put up numbers with drek such as Roy Williams and T.O
T.O. is a top receiver of all time time...and he still was putting up numbers after he was let go by Dallas.
When in the world has Alex ever played with a receiver with T.O. talent?

... or when he's lost Austin (like he did against you) and Bryant.
Whitten had a big game also. Romo has two number 1 receivers and one very good tight end. Romo plus has a top 3 defense supporting him and yet hes leading he's team to a 2-3 record?

Dude's not the most clutch guy in the world, but he's MILES ahead of Alex Smith, who's a caretaker at best
and has never accomplished even leading a team to a winning record, much less leading them to the playoffs.
Lets see...who was carrying this offense while Gore was stuggling and being benched? Yup you guessed it Alex Smith. Alex is currently leading his team to the playoffs...
Elite running back, better TE, better O-line for Romo,
This is the same line that gave up six sacks to the Dallas Defense...While Dallas offensive line gave up 1 to the 49ers.
who shown the ability to play with whatever WRs placed outside the numbers = better shot of winning than with Alex Smith.
What? Romo can't even get out of his own way...till Romo stops hurting his team with the critical mistakes...I don't want him anywhere the 49ers.

Witten is good but Davis' combination of speed and blocking gives him the edge to me.

That's why the 49ers were the perfect place for Harbaugh to go he loves to use TE's and he came to a team that has 2 unusual ones with the speed to get deep and yet Davis is a great blocker and Walker is OK so he's able to play them both together a lot.

You'll note how Stanford is loaded with TE's and several of them are "tweeners", that's because Harbaugh specifically recruited with that in mind and converted WR's to TE because he likes that. Davis and Walker were his dream scenario IMHO.

Whitten had a big game also. Romo has two number 1 receivers and one very good tight end.

are you just going to continue to ignore the fact that Romo's WRs have been injured and in an out of the lineup all year?

Romo plus has a top 3 defense supporting him and yet hes leading he's team to a 2-3 record?

he's got no running game and has had his best WRs shuttling in and out of the lineup all season. Give him a running game like he had two years ago or he had back in 2005 (or 6) and he goes 11-5 and 13-3.

Lets see...who was carrying this offense while Gore was stuggling and being benched? Yup you guessed it Alex Smith. Alex is currently leading his team to the playoffs...

"carrying his team"... when the hell was this? when he put up a whopping 13 points and thre for less than 150 yards against the Bengals? D was carrying them. He played really well in the comeback against the Eagles and the next week against the Bucs, but he's been nothing more than a placeholder the rest of the season. That D and Gore's 2nd in the NFC rushing game is carrying them.

This is the same line that gave up six sacks to the Dallas Defense...While Dallas offensive line gave up 1 to the 49ers.

What? Romo can't even get out of his own way...till Romo stops hurting his team with the critical mistakes...I don't want him anywhere the 49ers.

ok.

Same goes for Alex ...Edwards (Knee), Morgan (ankle), Crabtree (foot)..have been in and out of the lineup all year. You don't see me making excuse's for Alex.

he's got no running game and has had his best WRs shuttling in and out of the lineup all season. Give him a running game like he had two years ago or he had back in 2005 (or 6) and he goes 11-5 and 13-3.
Give Alex Smith a #1 receiver and well see how good he can be.

"carrying his team"... when the hell was this?
I said carried the offense..don't know where you i got that i said carried this team? He was carrying this offense when frank gore was averaging a whopping 2.5 yrds per carry and was benched.

when he put up a whopping 13 points and thre for less than 150 yards against the Bengals?
No it was against
Seattle (Gore was awful),
Dallas (Gore was awful, Alex gave the 49ers D a 14 point lead going into
the 4th quarter). Alex also played with a concussion in the second half.
Bengals- (Gore was awful and had a costly fumble in this game...but thank goodness for Alex,VD, and the Defense)
Gore and Alex broke loose in this game)
Tampa (Gore, VD, andAlex broke out in this game)
Detroit ( Alex worse game of the season by far..Gore carried the offense in this game)
D was carrying them.
this is true...but for all the flack that Ginn gets..him and the rest of the ST have been really good this year.

but he's been nothing more than a placeholder the rest of the season.
I like how its been dismissed that 11 guys learning on offense are learning a whole new offense(WCO), but yeah lets have Alex fling the ball around and get fantasy football numbers..cause "hes a game manager if he doesn't fill up the stat sheet."

That D and Gore's 2nd in the NFC rushing game is carrying them.
Half true but so far it's nice to know that Alex isn't the weak link on the team.

I don't get the sympathy for Romo? when has a much better offense than Alex and a stout defense himself.
Romoexcuses?
