I was checking tonight's boxscore for the nba.... and I noticed that Mike Miller has not played tonight for Memphis. I know it doesn't mean much, but if a player is going to be traded, isn't that one of the first signs??

food for thought.....nothing more than that.

i think he was suffering from back spasms.

Who thinks Ross is worth the Atl pick? I don't.

Pietrus, on the other hand.

From Chad Ford in today's Daily Dime. After explaining that Denver isn't going after Artest.

The dark horse in the Artest discussions may be the Suns. According to two league sources, the Suns have some interest in Artest. The team feels like they need to replace Shawn Marion's perimeter defense, and Artest would fit the bill. His ability to guard four positions makes him coveted, despite the concerns about his personality.

I'm a little disappointed that it is Ross that they are bringing in. I would much rather have Artest/Pietrus/Gelebale in that order.

I think everyone is getting a little too caught up in the Artest hype. He SERIOUSLY worries me.

Although I will say this. For one run with the leadership on this team I think he would play balls to the wall. And we would likely get our ring.

But man it would come apart at the seams after that. Dude is a cancer with a Capital "C"

I like artest to defend Kobe better than the others. Artest has enough pride that he will work hard on D, especially if his D is in the spotlight. If the suns get artest, it would be for just a few months. Artest can opt out of his contract and pursue a FA contract at the end of the year. Being on the suns and winning the championship would probably maximize his value(he'd probably prefer to go to the suns). I hear he will opt out of his current, very reasonable contract, wants a 14mil/per multi year deal that the suns cant offer. For the championship, it might be worth it, especially as Nash and shaqs windows are small. Perhaps next year strawberry could step in as that wing defender. This year he is a rook and the 82 games + playoffs will have him in run down condition, even if he was seasoned enough to do the job(he isnt). In the off season, straw will go to the gym and beef up to take the NBA beating of 82 games+ playoffs.

If (and that's a big IF) Artest were to come here, there is no doubt in my mind that our front office would explain to him about whose team this is. You actually think Shaq would let Artest get away with what he got away with in those other cities (Indianapolis and Sacramento)? If Artest were to come here, there is no doubt in my mind he would come here with one thought--to win a championship. We would REQUIRE it.

MJ was able to tame Rodman, but then that was MJ. There's a ton of risk involved with the Artest acquisition--wouldn't Pietrus be a more conservative pickup?

Based on talent, I'd prefer Artest or Mike Miller over any of those other dregs. Quintin Ross? Are you kidding me? For a second round pick, sure. But that's it.

Based on talent, I think lebron might be a good fit. After returning to reality, Ross is the best mix of salary, cost to acquire, role, and skill at that role.

We're not giving up the Atl pick for Ross. We probably would give up Tucker. There seems to be alot of interest around the league about Tucker. ARe we missing something?

Clip fans speak with lots of admiration about Ross. He has a rep around the league as a defensive stopper ala Bell or even Bowen.

Artest would be a serious upgrade over Bell at the 2 spot. Can you imagine this lineup?

Nash
Artest
Hill
Stat
Shaq

With Barbosa Bell and Boris off the bench? Looks solid on paper. Too bad it'll probably never happen.

My boy dbdynsty is saying that it is hectic in the office, and he hasn't heard anything, except that he overheard the Suns on the phone with the Clips saying no thanks to what they were offering. No mention of names. So, that pretty much means no Ross.

Did anyone catch David Griffen this morning with Bickley and MJ? He said, in so many words... "yeah, there are guys that can shoot and play lock down defense, and they cost $8M"... it was said in a way that immediately led me to believe they are actively negotiating for Artest. Not just thinking about it.

Yeah I heard that too, but I was thinking along the lines of Pietrus.

No, he said "$8M" in a "costs way too much considering the luxury tax" kind of way.

I'm just kidding, didn't even hear it.

Artest can't play the 2. He shoots 42% from the field and 33% from the 3 for his career. He is a 3 and maybe can play the 4 ala Marion.
