Sounds like Ross is your man, from Sarver's interview and the ramifications of the luxury tax.

I was almost hoping you'd get Artest because that comes with a 70 percent chance of thermonuclear meltdown before April.

This makes a lot more sense. Sarver is willing to go over the cap a little to bring in a guy like Pietrus not blow open the vault for Artest.

I like Ross a lot-- but he really cannot shoot.
Lock down defenders that can't shoot are useless. We need shooters to surround SHaq. If we have a brick layer on the floor his man will double on Shaq and Amare all day.

If we can somehow get Pietrus without giving up the Atlanta pick, I'd be very happy.

What else do the Suns have to offer? They can't trade anymore of their own picks. They'd have to send a player.

How is a lockdown defender useless? You put him in when you need stops and take him out when you need baskets. Ever seen a close NBA playoff game? There's TO's that you can sub between every posession. Ross is no world-beater but he can contribute which can't be said about the majority of our curren bench.

I'll take Pietrus any time any day over Artest! We have complete trust on Hill for starting SF! Diaw can also cover some minutes there, especially when Shaq fits in.

All we need is a bench player! A guy who will be happy to play 20-25 minutes and be productive!

Pietrus is not as good as the original Artest in matter of defensive ability and talent. But have u watched Artest play recently? This guy spends less and less energy defending now. He want to be the #1 or #2 option in offense, coming here he will be #3 or #4! It is impossible to incorporate him into our system.

Plus, we should not give up the Atlanta pick! That one is on the track to be in top 10 and this is a deep class! Pietrus is good enough, and cheap. TE and second rounder should do the job.

Maybe in special situations. The reason Bowen is so useful is that he can defend AND hit the open shot. The Suns offense does not need another player that can't shoot. Did you ever notice how teams would cheat off Banks in the half court?

Its not that big a deal anyway. Whoever the Suns sign is going to play very limited minutes anyway.

ATL is going to lay an egg on this road trip and ruin any chemistry they got from the bibby trade. I predict the pick will be #9 EASILY.

F the atlanta pick? surely you jest.

The Suns may not be done wheeling and dealing. A team source said that Phoenix would like to find a way to acquire veteran sharpshooter Brent Barry, who was traded Wednesday from the San Antonio Spurs to the Seattle SuperSonics.

For Barry to become a Sun, the Sonics would have to buy out his contract, the source said. Barry is making $5.5 million this year and is in the final year of his contract.

The Suns are in trade talks this evening with a few teams, trying to acquire a wing player in a deal for a second-round pick before Thursday's trade deadline.

Phoenix could know by the end of the night whether they can work out a deal for a player like the Los Angeles Clippers' Quinton Ross, Denver's Yakhouba Diawara or Seattle's Mickael Gelabale. Golden State's Mickael Pietrus is also an outside possibility but he would come at a costlier price tag with a salary this season of about $3.5 million, which would be prorated for the season's remainder but would also add to the Suns' luxury tax hit.

Phoenix is seeking a wing player who is a versatile, strong defender and Ross fits that bill at a great price. Ross' salary is slightly more than $800,000 but offers defense, rebounding and ability to play in transition in a 6-foot-6, 193-pound frame. He has been a part-time starter over the past four seasons for the Clippers.

Diawara, a 25-year-old Frenchman, makes less than $700,000 and also has started some over the past two seasons for Denver, bringing strength in a 6-foot-7, 225-pound frame.

Gelabale, 6-feet-7 and 215 pounds, was a player Phoenix has liked since before he entered the league but has spent recent time in the D-League after playing in 70 games as a Seattle rookie in 2006-07. The athletic 24-year-old, who is also French, has a salary of about $800,000 this season.

Anyone from the above mentioned quintett would be great addition. I think Galabale should be the best shooter and Sonics owe us by shipping Kt to our competitor, Spurs. Let's just do it!:D

I would love to have Barry here....however, If he gets bought out, i don't see him signing with us. Honestly see him re-signing with the Spurs if he's bought out.

First, why would the Sonics waive Barry? Pay him the 2M salary left for the season and get nothing back?

Second, according to recent incident on Stackhouse, the league will definitely look into this and prevent a pre-arranged deal.

This conversation about the 13th player is great and all, but in all reality, who really thinks that 13th player will get any playing time?

This makes sense. Ross is a very good defender on 1-2, which we need for the likes of Manu, Parker, Terry, AI, Ellis, Baron. It'd be great if we get him.
