0-2 pitch and Valverde throws it over the plate. Pathetic!!! 4-3 Giants. How much more can Diamondback fans take?

Diamondbacks lose 4-3. I have one question, how come Koplove did not start the 8th? This loss makes me sick.

Probably because we had to use him those blow out loses his arm is tired. My guess is that he needed a day or two of rest.

The left-handed 'specialist' strikes....er, walks again!!! Randolph comes in the 7th, gets the side out pretty quickly, then with Bonds coming up in the 8th, BB goes with Bruney & Choate?? In Choate's defense, his first two pitches were strikes to anyone other than Bonds - I know Barry has good command of the strike zone, but he didn't need help from behind the plate (back to the ump discussion again *lol*)!! Valverde enters, proceeds to drop an 0-2 pitch over the plate, and another game is blown by the 'pen! Kniffin must have some secret pictures of Joe Jr in his locker, because I can't figure out how he is keeping his job right now - one or two bad pitchers is one thing, but all of them (RJ excluded)??

I was hoping we could stay in the race until the All Star break, but that is looking worse by the game.

The Dodgers lost again today. No one want to run away with the NL West. If only the Diamondbacks could get hot and run 8-10 games in a row.

Can anybody possibly explain, with Randolph dominating in the seventh, and one out already in the top of the eighth, why you would bring down Randolph for Doug DeVore? The difference between DeVore's hitting and Randolph is a lot less than one would think, and Randolph would certainly be as capable as DeVore in getting completely outclassed, and struck out in three pitches. This team makes me hate baseball right now, they have no spirit, no heart, and no clue how to win.

The problem is management and the mdeia made the fans believe that this team was capable of contending this year. While they technically are still around in the NL West, this team simply would get its ass beat by the Astros, Phils, Marlins, Cubs, Cardinals, etc. The 2004 DBacks have never been a contender and it's very doubtful they will turn into one overnight. Let's look at the pitching staff for example. You knew Johnson was going to have a good year, its what Hall-of-Famers do. Webb was inevitably going to take a step back after last year, he's still good but now that hitters have seen him more his ERA is reflecting it. And then we have Dessens (perennially crappy), Sparks (who hadn't won in two years), and a rookie who made a jump from AA and has never been regarded as that spectacular of a prospect. Why should we expect to win with these guys?

Well, we did beat the Cubs 4 out of 6 this year....sadly, that (along with the perfect game) will be the highlight of the 2004 D'Backs if they don't find some answers soon! What ticks me off the most is that when I see the bullpen come into a game with a lead, I fully expect them to give up the lead & game!! I've really tried to be positive, but this team is so damn frustrating! We may still be mathmatically in the race, but does anyone really feel we have a shot?

*must be positive* *must be positive*

Oh yeah, one more thing.....GNATS FANS SUCK!! From "Pitch to Barry" signs to interferring with every ball hit near the stands, SF fans are making quite a reputation for themselves, and none of it is good! One scene that sticks out is from a Marlins - Gnats game in April; the RF for the Marlins (Cabrera) reached into the stands for a foul ball, caught it in front of a Gnats fan, and the Gnats fan had the audacity to shove Cabrera for catching the ball! I wish Cabrera would have knocked that idiots' head off!

I expected nothing of this team for this year. When you lose arguably your best two pitchers last year, (Schilling, no explanation needed, Batista, 6th best ERA in the NL) with two stinking loads of crap, and Elmer filling out the rotation, I knew this would be a long year. The one constant in baseball is that huge home run numbers mean crap, and pitching is the one constant in being successful. So what does ******* Joe do? Start a 1 starter, a 2 starter, and 3 fives, at best. Daigle and Dessens should not even be major league starters. If this team had Johnson, Schilling, Batista, Webb, and a player with a pulse, plus an entire triple A lineup, I think they would have a more successful team than the one assembled. Joe Jr. ruined my summer by being a total *******, and getting hot for a power hitting first baseman, and giving away the farm, literally....

there are no excuses for not winning a game like last night's game.

It was just announced that Scott Service is now our closer ue to the ineffectiveness of Valverde. Not even 2 months into the season and we are already on our 3rd closer.

Interesting decision by Brenly

Brett Mayne ties it up at 2 and then Sparks gives up 2 back-to-back doubles and the Giants retake the lead 3-2.

Its really starting to piss me off that every time that one of our pitchers is given the lead or the team ties it up, it seems that they will automatically give it up the inning after.

Nice of our 1-3 hitters giving Hermanson a six-pitch 5th inning - - our ineptitude is certainly an all-around team effort!

Scott Service got recalled from Tucson and we sent down....Bruney? I guess releasing or demoting Dessens would make Joe Jr look bad for the Durazo deal (as if he didn't already), although Elmer looks the most expendable on the staff.

Equally nice of the Gnats to return the favor with an eight-pitch 5th inning of their own!!

Bases loaded, nobody out in the top of the 7th....sure enough, four pitches later we are out of the inning with ZERO runs scored!! Finley swings at the first pitch for an out, then Shea grounds into a DP! 4-3 Gnats in the 7th.

AAAAAAAAUGH!!!

That 7th inning could only be described as pathetic. The Dbacks loaded the bases with nobody out and manages to score 0 runs.

Disgusting

Scott Service, you're hired!!!

Actually, not a bad job by the bullpen tonight - - and a clutch HR by Danny Bautista in the 9th!

Guess I spoke too soon about the 'pen...

5-4, Gnats sweep the series. Valverde has gone from stopper to useless in a few short weeks, so the club might want to send him back to Tucson for some remedial training.

Is there any way the bullpen hasn't blown a game yet? Home runs, walked in runs, wild pick-off and a base hit...have they walked the bases loaded and brought over the winning run with a HBP yet?

The lack of plate discipline is more severe than ever for our batters. I will donate $100 to the charity of choice for the first DBack batter who walks in a run with the bases loaded. I'm not the least bit worried that I'll have to pay up this season. They cannot STAND being up there with the bases loaded and not swinging wildly and indiscriminately.
