Well the Dbacks take advantage of some bad Dodgers defense and take the lead 1-0 on a Hammock hit (Bradley should've had it but misjudged the ball and it became an RBI sinlge).

I think this will be a very ugly series IMO, because it seems that neither of these teams want to win

Wilson's out of the game, hopefully we can eat right through their bullpen and wear them out

Gonzo is really starting to piss me off. He can not get a runner in from 3rd with less than 2 out ... he is guaranteed pop out or strike out every single time.

Thankfully Bautista picks him up by hitting a 2 out RBI single and the Dbacks lead 2-0

I was thinking the same thing....his batting average has dipped to .244

The more Bautista hits the more his trade value goes up. Do you guys think Finley or Bautista will be gone by the end of July? It would be nice if the Diamondbacks swept the Dodgers to end this road trip.

If we are out of the race at that point, I would say yes. It seems to be a good year to trade both of them because of the way they are hitting this year.

He can't bring in a runner on 3rd with less than 2 out, but he can hit a 2 run HR with a runner on 1st and 2 out.

Go figure ... Dbacks lead 4-0

Randy looks like he is 25 years old. I know he won't be traded but the Diamondbacks could really get a lot of young talent for him.

Elmer comes in the 8th and shuts down the Dodgers. Hammock just hit a home run in the top of the 9th, 6-3!

INteresting that Brenly is sticking with Dessens and not going to his "closer" ( ) Valverde

Elmer is starting the 9th. When was the last time he pitched a 9th inning? His he the next Diamondback closer?

I fell asleep around the 7th inning, and when I woke up, I saw....Elmer?? In the 9th inning?? Wow - - what was even more amazing is that we won! Of course, they could stick Mark Grace on the mound again as long as we get the W!

A day after we heard that Scott Service is our new closer, BB might have stumbled on a better solution.

Elmer has a solid record early in each appearance. He sure looked good in his two innings, getting the save on Friday.

Elmer Dessens might be the best potential closer on the D'backs. But I'd hate to see BB do with Elmer what he does with the batting order. Closing one day, pitching early relief another. Then setup the next day. Until his arm wears out.

Bob Brenly is no stranger to making a proclamation one day and breaking it the next.

I would like to see him give Dessens a shot at closer. If it works, leave him there. If not, then try Service.

Valverde vowed to return to last year's form. If he can do it, he'd be a solid setup man.

It all seems so logical. Except in the ADD mind of Bob Brenly, or course. Please, Bob. Make a sound decision, then don't tamper with it.

Kata injures his shoulder diving for a grounder. Does not look good. Looks like Hairston will have his chance to show if he deserves to stay.

From the looks of things, I'm guessing he's done for the rest of the season. That was ugly.

*sigh*

Just what this team needs, more injuries. :bang::bang::bang:

UGH! What the hell is going on with Webb?

He gets 2 outs and then gives up 4 straight hits including a 3 run HR by Beltre. Dodgers take a 4-0 lead

Just when I was wondering how this season could get any worse - - Kata gets hurt, Webb is getting shelled once again, and our bats are being silenced by.....Jose Lima?!?!

AAAAAUGH!!

What is Gagme doing pitching in a 10-0 game? Rubbing our noses in it?

With Kata down, and Alomar still 2-3 weeks off, this is Hairston's big opportunity to show he IS the 2nd baseman of the future - so far he looks better on the field than I anticipated - hope he shines!

If they go for an infielder call-up, I'm guessing Andy Green or Alan Zinter.

Let's get a win and take the series. Hairston leads off with a hit. I have been impressed with his hitting and fielding.

I'm trying to watch as much of the game as I can, but it's Tornado Day here in Indy, so I have to keep ducking away from the TV....nice to see some patience at the plate in inning one, but too bad we couldn't capitalize.

I see that Tim Olson started at third - was it a good choice from Tucson?

The Diamondbacks load the bases but Shea grounds out. I think Fossum is going to do well tonight. This will be his coming out game.
