Ugh. This move reaks of complete panic by the Suns front office.

I don't see adding an old, slow, washed up Shaq as improving this team.

As of right now we'd play the Warriors in the first round and they would just run Shaq pretty much completely off the court like we did to him in Miami usually.

If we're gonna trade Marion, at this point I'd like to see us trade for Camby or Artest.

the warriors already run us off the court. we're great at transition offense, but equally bad at transition defense. shaq's addition won't make us worse in that aspect of the game.

you think duncan is backing shaq down in the lane? i don't. that's all i need to know.

You think Duncans game is predicated on being right around the cup? I don't. Duncan can seemingly toss the backboard and in from anywhere inside of 15 feet. Furthermore, heaven forbid Duncan ever passes to Parker or Ginobili, Shaq is way too slow and un-agile (not a word I know, just go with it) to be a good last wall of defense against those guys.

I want some details, a shaq for marion + banks is garbage. If this is going to happen no way is it that.

Do we get haslem? Do we get their pick? Etc...

If this trade is happening there better be more details, or I will flat out lose my mind.

We could do a Marion + banks + pike for Shaq + haslem.

That way we shore up our rebounding, and after marion opts and pike is done miami only has banks contract.

Someone said zo was included? F*** that.

i just said the same thing to cheese. this smacks of majerle-williams all over again. but i'm for it. this team wasn't winning it, why not take a ridiculous flyer.

I thought you and cheese would think my top 5 reasons to trade for Shaq were pretty funny. My humor is lost here...or just lost period :)

i don't disagree with anything you say, but think of this . . . duncan did most of his damage to us in the paint. at least shaq would lower the possibility of that happening again. at least in that manner.

Time for the "bright side".

Both of our rookies should see minutes now. Strawberry has done well as the 4th guard. Tucker becomes the backup 3.

D'Antoni can play his 3 guard lineups and they won't be a joke. In fact Bell has played very well at the 3.

We now know why Grant Hill was starting over Boris.

Stick a fork in us, were done.

That trade is terrible.

We were done if we did nothing. Our rebounding was weak, the entire Western Conference besides us seems to have size (for example the Lakers got Gasol and are getting Bynum back).

Like I said if we limit his minutes and have him start our fast break offense in a similar role as Kurt Thomas (you know that guy that we traded and everyone bitched about it then) then we'll be fine.

lol, with this rumor i can't concentrate on much of anything other than the deal and ramifications. and cheese hasn't posted or read the board in a loooooooong time . . . but he's sorely tempted to come aboard right now . . . i suspect he will do so once this deal goes down.

btw, not many have addressed this, but i think this spells the beginning of the end for dantoni.

Duncan did his damage in the paint because that was the Suns major weakness. If Shaq joins the Suns, Duncan will move out of the paint and do his damage starting from about 15 ft away. He'll either drive around Shaq, shoot his patented 15ft bank shot from the wing or run the pick and roll with Tony Parker. Shaq does not help the Suns get past the Spurs.

This also weakens the Suns against Dallas. Marion was great a guarding Dirk. Who's going to do that now?

Well this only works if the Sun's really do change their style, or Shaq somehow sheds some pounds. Get that big man on a treadmill!

I would do it, and here's why. This team as it currently stands is not going to win a championship. I doubt they even make it out of the second round of the playoffs. They aren't assured a championship was Shaquille O'Neal, but I certainly like their chances a lot more. The Phoenix Suns do not need a center to run up and down the court with them. They need somebody to clog up the middle on defense and clear the boards. Shaq can do that and is a great passer to get the ball out to the runners.

I also think Shaquille O'Neal would be on a mission to prove he is still a great player. He's got to know that if he could bring a championship here it would just take him up another level on the list of greatest players.

I'm not even a Shaquille O'Neal fan, and I would do it.

Joe Mama

Ouchie and Joe are right, we weren't going to compete for a championship withe our current squad and if a motivated Shaq is healthy for the playoffs I think he could definitely help. Can you imagine a series with the Lakers? The ratings would be off the charts.

hasn't everyone been so impressed with hill's defense? guess who gets to cover dirk now. but also, guess who dirk has to cover . . .

A Suns/Lakers conferance finals would destroy the ratings.

Shaq with his new buddy who will actually pass him the ball.

Kobe and his new big men who want to let him do his thing.

The WWE couldn't write a better storyline.
