desertdawg is a regular at my tailgates and a guy who never acts like a butthead to other fans. If everyone had his attitude, the games would be a lot more enjoyable to go to. Much love my brutha!

Translation.. He is a hippie.. Haha

One thing to note, thugs like to call themselves Raider fans but they are not real Raider fans. They unfortunately call the Raiders their team because of the image created by real fans which they misinterpret and that is something they think they belong to but it has nothing to do with football or them and real Raider fans are football fans that approach the game with a passionate college like attitude. There are real Raider football fans and then you have the idiots who are fans of the image of what they think being a Raider fan is and has nothing to do with being concerned with whether the Raiders win or lose. Sort of like the people who buy hockey jerseys because they think they look cool but they do not understand or could care less about hockey, the thugs wear a distorted jersey of character that has nothing to do with Raider football.

Don't know about that Oaken, but there are two types to the Raider fan base and one has absolutely nothing to do with football. Now, in comparison you have the Cowboys. There are two types to that fan base. The die hard fans that care win or lose and the arrogant bandwagon fans and unlike Raider fans, both Cowboy types have to do with football and one of the reasons I hate the Cowboys because the screwed up types outnumber the true fans (unlike the thug unfootball type Raider fans) and they do base it on football.

BTW, Oaken is right (again). I grew up in Fresno, Ca and my entire family are Raiders fans. None of them are thugs. You either were a Raiders fans or a 40whiner fan. Almost all my kid pictures are me in Raiders stuff.

It wasn't until the late 80s that Raider nation became the atrocity it is now. It used to be just the working class team.

I lived in Fres-yes from 95 to 99.

so

Your point is-Raiders fans keep raiders fans away from the games?
:bang:
Sounds like the Raiders might want to police their own games - sliver and black on silver an black crimes......

I appreciate Oaken and NFL fanhood- but it is not a difficult to explain or a gray line. It is the LAW- if a Card, Cowboy, Steeler fan breaks the law He is damned well prosecuted and tossed from stadium - repeated and they will be expelled from live entertainment.

I have seen Raider fans break the law more period. and it is encouraged!
:mulli:

my sister and nephew go to one game a season. They would go more but dont want to spend time with the rowdy's either....my nephew is only 26 and can name the raiders starters for the past twenty years, team records, all that....says the fools at the games cannot even tell you the starting defensive line...just the QB and the RB...maybe a WR or LB if they are star quality. The rowdy's are not a true representation of raiders fans, even the fans stay away because of them.

dd, it's obvious you've never been to a Raiders game. Of all the fans in the NFL, they are the most obnoxious, overbearing, beligerant, loudmouthed, intolerant, drunken bums you will ever see. Before, during and after the game, you can see them out in the parking lot looking for a fight from anyone who walks past or throwing up and rolling in their own vomit. Disgusting.
It's obvious, you cant like a team that has a bad rep. It's obvious, no way can you be a good fan, gotta have bad intentions right? I am guilty of all that good stuff, getting drunk and acting like a *******, that's my thing.

Im sure a 57 yr old man with his wife isnt "thuggin". He said accident but why did he have to pull out the gun?

Mines bigger than yours? Who knows. People do all sorts of things and there hasn't been that much information released.

Every fan base has their good and bad. Even though I do try to be vanilla, I cant help but hate Philly fans as a whole. 49er fans are up there, especially when they travel to our home games.

You know has very pleasant fans? Green Bay. In general, very nice people.

Raider fans are a different kind of scum.

I think Obi Wan was talking about Oakland Coliseum not Mos Eisley when he said, " You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy"

Regardless of the exact circumstances, I'm glad the viticm is going to make it and hope this is the last story of this kind we'll ever see at our stadium!

57 year old men can be violent ******s too. But this is why I don't bring my gun to the stadium or ever have it with me in my truck outside of camping/hunting. Just bad news waiting to happen.

I agree. Nola people are very laid back.

However there are a few obnoxious saints fans. But thats to be expected. They were garbage for so long that this sudden wave of success has spoiled them a bit.

Which is fine. If the Cardinals became a contender every year, you could bet Id be drunkest, loudest dude at every game that every opposing teams fans want to stomp.

I wish :(

every bandwagon team has it's obnoxious fans. I remember seeing some pretty thuggish idiots sporting Titans gear when they were winning games during the McNair era, etc. I am sure if we have a few solid years in a row here, or god forbid, win a super bowl, we will get some of the losers who sport Raiders and Cowboys gear showing up in new Cards gear and starting trouble as well.

We already have an element of punks and thugs that fight each other at the games or try to get in fights with fans of other teams. Usually it's a mix of punk + alcohol meets thug + alcohol.

Irresponsible Speculation On My Part...

So I am thinking it played out like this.

Card fan and wife leave early to beat the traffic and encounter Raider fan. Someone talks smack (over a preseason game no less), confirming there are no real fans in this situation at all.

Card fan always wished he was lived in the times of the Wild West. Raider fan gets belligerent. Everyone is drunk.

Card fan has always wanted to justify carrying that gun his his glove box, so he's quick to whip it out when he feels "threatened". To his surprise, bringing out the gun does defuse the situation, it actually escalates it.

Card fan accidentally shoots Raider fan because he hasn't had a single day of training on how to actually use the firearm.

Just a horrible situation all the way around. I hope they make an example of all the parties involved. I've always joked that I didn't want to go to a Raiders game because I didn't want to get shot. Now it's not a joke anymore.

Bickley and MJ were talking about this incedent on the radio tonight.

I guess the shooter is a cop.

The 30 yo got into a confrontation with the 57 yo who was with his wife.

The 57 yo went to his vehicle to leave and the Raider fan couldn't let it go and came over to the vehicle as the guy was trying to leave.

The older guy showed his badge and told the guy to back off and he didn't. The guy showed his weapon and the guy still didn't back off and he got shot in the face.

The cop stayed, called 911, cooperated with police, was interviewed, had blood taken, and was released.

Sounds like the jist of it was the 30 yo was probably drunk, the 57 yo sober and some sort of law enforcement, and the young guy would not back off.

Don't know how true the story is but this what Bick and MJ said.

No...this can't be right. From what I've read in this thread, Raiders fans are angels.
