I'm not talking about his ability to run (which i wish he would do less of) I'm talking about him moving in the pocket and the time is takes him to get up from center. He just looks slow as hell to me. He has a nice arm, but a few times for whatever reason it seems to take forever to come out of there. His footwork is terrible. He seems to be off balance alot. I would have no problem drafting a top QB. Why do we have to settle for table scraps.

That's fine. I think we should draft a QB too. But if you want us to be good next year, none of the top rookies besides Luck is expected to be NFL ready. With that in mind, I don't see the point in taking a QB unless he can do what Whiz wants a QB to do. Whiz's system puts so much pressure on the QB, and love him or hate him, we're stuck with Whiz for at least 2 more seasons. Anyone who believes the Bidwill's will leave 15-20 million on the table with Whiz is nuts.

Honestly, I've seen very little of Mallet or Locker, but what I've read and heard from scouts is that these guys shouldn't even be first round draft picks.

I think the best QB in the draft besides Luck is probably going to be Blaine Gabbert but he's not going to turn anything around year one so he's a bad fit for us in that respect.

If you're willing to let him season for a season then fine, if not then take a pass rusher.

What scouts have you read that don't have Mallet in the first round? I understand Locker is a fringe first rounder by some accounts but I haven't seen Mallet outside of the top 32 in a while.

I didn't say that he isn't in the first round, I said he shouldn't be. Everyone knows that QBs generally get drafted earlier. Mallet will get drafted in the first round but there are huge accuracy questions about him.

If we take a QB it better be a cant miss franchise guy. Because I believe we have a solid young QB right now. Have no idea if he will be a probowler but he will be a solid QB with time to learn & MAYBE some kind of rushing attack?!?!?

The thing that impresses me is the lack of sacks that he has taken. When compared to our other 2 qb's, it is an astonishing comparison. It is not like the team has stopped passing and gone to a run heavy attack for him either.

I asked DCR today why CAN'T he be our QBOF? He has size, mobility, a strong arm...a lot of the things he's lacking are the things that CAN be taught. I'm impressed with him so far, and I'm excited to see where he takes us, if given the chance.

btw, dcr had no answer as to why he can't be, either.

I have seen him throw. NO WAY NO HOW is he QBOF material. Don;t let those love blinders fool ya. ;)

Yeah, I looked it up already. Not sure how my pronoun usage was "janky". I only used pronouns for the subject of the thread. When referring to dcr, I called him by name. I'd say janky would be if I used "he" in the same post to refer to two different men. :p
You asked DCR why DCR couldn't be the QBOF?

DCR doesn't have size. Maybe over me, but not in the NFL. Max Hall 2.0.
