Other than instant gratification, what is accomplished by firing Whis?

A new head coach still has the garbage QBs on our roster.

The new head coach still has a weak free agent and draft class to pick a new QB from.

The new head coach will bring in a new system which will take the focus off the need for a QB.

The new head coach will still be stuck with the same interior offensive line players and limited ability to make changes to that group.

The new head coach will have to earn the respect of our defense which Whis already has.

Where do we gain? We know what our issue is and that is QB play. PLain and simple. Wide receivers, good. Offensive tackles, good enough. Offensive guards and center, ok. Running backs, ok. Defense, pretty good. QB, awful. The focus on the Arizona Cardinals right now is solely on the quarterback position which is exactly where we should want it as fans because that reinforces the need to improve it. Conversely, firing Whis and getting a new head coach takes the focus away from it.

If Whiz is going to preach accountability...... Then he himself must be held accountable.

Kolb benched for Skelton
Skelton benched for Lindley
Floyd moving past Byrd, and Early
Potter moving past Batiste
Scho moving past Haggans

Whiz deserves no more sympathy from us.

Answer: The same thing that always gets accomplished when you fire an inept employee, they leave.

You don't just fire the coach you fire everyone all the way to the top spot and since you can't fire family then Michael goes out and finds a new GM instead of a new coach.

Honestly, after what we saw today, are you seriously saying you want to give this management team including Graves another year to see what new and innovative ways they come up with to lose games?

How about a new GM comes in, and keeps who he wants and discards the rest and starts over?

I don't think there's much danger it could get worse from here.

Yes. You give less authority to your head coach, you force some changes to the coaching staff and you go find a QB.

This team doesn't need to be blown up, it needs a QB. Firing your head head coach does not accomplish that.

No it dosen't accomplish that.

It accomplishes showing everyone in your organization that you won't tolerate stupidity and losing.

Whiz's decisions are why I want him fired, same with Graves, they have chosen their beds now they can lie in them somewhere else.

Whiz deserves no more sympathy from us.

This isn't about sympathy, it's about building a winner. The GM should hold Whis accountable by removing some of his power and forcing some changes. That is the process.

We have tried to find a QB. From all accounts Whiz has been very much involved in this process. It has failed.

Need new GM and new HC.

Getting the best 22 out on the field.

We are missing a QB, I don't see how you see this team as needing to be blown up? Top 10 defense, check. Good skill players, check. QB and the interior offensive line need to be upgraded, but that is it. Then we are winning again.

A new coach will bring in his own staff. The defense goes back to being an unknown.

I agree with your sentiment, but focus and the DC are not key factors in this decision. First, Horton might takeover the job for all we know and if any coach were to replace Whiz, he'd be ill advised to can Horton.

I don't disagree with you, per say, but the RB position definitely needs some re-evaluation as well, and we don't have a pass rushing OLB. This team is more than just a QB away. A QB might do enough to make us competitive, but there are plenty of other holes to fill.

Yeah, we drafted Leinart and found Warner. We signed FA Anderson and that didn't work. We traded for a young potential player in Kolb, and that didn't work. As these fail we get progressively more aggressive in how we are trying to solve our QB problem.

This roster is just too talented to blow up and start over, because by firing Whis, that is what you are doing.

Oh, there are upgrades needed, but we are competitive with one really good OG and a good QB. That's it. All we need to push for the playoffs.

Horton getting the promotion still requires a new DC, and any new head coach worth a damn will bring in his own staff, regardless of the success Horton has had.

The best 22 we have are out there right now. The problem is the most important spot is our weak link.

Bull**** Chopper

You will NEVER convince me that today Lindley gave us a better chance to win than Skelton.

And, you'll also never convince me that Skelton should have been #1 on the depth chart to start the season!

Any head coach worth a damn would realize Horton is a hot commodity and do whatever it takes to hold onto him (unless he leaves for a promotion).

I hope they sign Whis to an extension...today! Make him stick it out until he quits.
