So what is accomplished by firing Whis?

It would make the idiots on this board happy until they wake up tomorrow and have something else to bitch about. Firing Whiz right now would be utterly moronic. That's why so many people in here are in favor of it.

Whatever master of all things football. Keep riding that 17-27 three year failure one trick pony that is Ken Whisenhunt. Until he changes his ways or gets canned this organization cannot move forward.

what's it like to be so angry all the time at your fellow fans? so much venom from you directed at people who have been subjected to 6, 7 and 8 game losing streaks the last three years. I mean... God forbid those people aren't happy with what they've been watching lately!

Yeah, but he took the Cardinals to the Super Bowl half a decade ago remember? He's with winningest coach in Arizona history with a 44-48 record and you really can't expect to hold him accountable with a team that has so many injuries, even though he built this roster, can you?

But yeah, WE ARE the idiots and morons.

Honest question, who would you want the Cardinals to hire?

Consider Andy Reid, Jon Gruden, and Bill Cowher are all off the table it seems like.

Who would you hire? Keep in mind they will have to be cheap because you are eating 5.5 million in Whis' contract.

I don't know. I'm not getting paid to make that decision. I do know that this is not working. I've had three years and six QBs to see that Whisenhunt sucks as a Cardinals HC when building the team his way.

Maybe the right answer is Whisenhunt but with having his power over the coaching staff and power of the 53 man roster stripped. I doubt it, but its possible.

A more likely and desirable scenario would be to interview several people and make the best decision with the information at hand.

I'd like to see Horton get it, have him select his staff, elevate Keim to GM formally and give him the power over the coaching staff and roster. Make Rod Graves the contract guy and away we go.

They also witnessed a league best 11-2 record sandwiched in those streaks. Way to leave that out. :D :D :D

but with that gaudy stat above, did we ever see the playoffs in the last three years?

sorry dude... but one thirteen game stretch, stretched out over two seasons that didn't even get us a sniff of the playoffs doesn't cut it.

and I totally don't get this. Why the huge ground swell for a guy who has only been a defensive coordinator for two years in his entire career and has never been a head coach at any level? It's like people don't think he is going to have similar issues as Whis has had. And unlike Mike Tomlin, he isn't inheriting a roster that has Ben Roethlisberger on it.

Hey you asked I answered. I'd like to see him because at least it keeps continuity on the strong part of the team.

If its someone with no relation to the team he could come in and run a whole new D and now the Cardinals are rebuilding on both sides of the ball.

Well said.

Horton may want to rein in his ambitions for a bit longer. Being a highly paid D-coordinator, which is likely, is far better than being a one and done Head Coach, and that can happen if you don't have the right guy under centre.

I do appreciate your answer, and by your preference in keeping Horton, I guess you hang this all on Whis?

According to sources he renegotiated his contract and wanted power over the 53 man roster and power over the coaching staff and is solely responsible for the QB mess. So yeah, if that's the case I'd pin at least 85% on Whisenhunt. If that's not true I pin 70-80% of this mess on Whisenhunt.

I like how they're trying to get Graves out from under the wheels of this bus, I guess if he has a note from Michael telling him to redo Whiz's contract then he's officially in the clear but someone gave the dude all that power, typical Cardinal fashion.

Every time the Cardinals open up their wallet and do things like this they get burnt it's almost comical.

Happened with Buddy then CKW gets all the control in the world and goes completely insane on QB's.

Stepping back from this the Cardinal saga continues on it's mystifying ways.

here's another issue, if Wiz does go, who does his power go back to? Are you telling me some of it's NOT going to go back to Graves? If you are, i've got a bridge to sell you. the dude's a failure in the organization. y'all want to say "he changed the way they do business!" yeah... great and now that they know they can go out and get a real GM who keep doing that and actually have a clue about football.

Listening to Bob Kemp right now. He believes that the only reason Whis didn't put Skelton in is because he's been assured by ownership that he's going to be back in 2013 regardless. The direct quote: "The only logical reason in my mind is because Whisenhunt has been assured he'll be back next year. The only thing that makes any sense to me is that he's been told he'll be returning next year."

This was my thought as well.

Let's see what we have in Lindley, don't yank the rug from under him and destroy his confidence.

There is no arguing that the FO has screwed the pooch in regards to the QB position. No it's not easy to find one but holy moly this has been a circus.

Good thread Chopper and kudo's for taking the unpopular road. I agree with you that this team is poised to be serious contenders if we can get a good QB.

The only hole on this roster right now is at QB. Sure we could upgrade the Oline, add an elite pass rusher and improve the RB position but all these things become minor with good QB play.

The Cards are on the cusp of becoming perenial playoff participants with a real QB. Look at the Colts, playoffs with Manning then 2-14 and now back in the playoff hunt with Luck.

What does it accomplish ?

It gets rid of Grimm, Miller, "The system" and the "We got in 2nd place" award that the Bidwills are still staring at like they the "we won 40 Superbowls in a row" award.

Its easier to re-build AFTER you throw out the trash.

I mean come on man. Who do I want as coach? **** anyone with a plan. Whiz torpedoes the season and people actually got the nerve to call fans morons for wanting him fired? The guy has no credibility. We have been undeniably atrocious on offense. The guy has scapegoated damn near every coach and or player he has come across. He must go.

Ok, but anyone with a plan does not get us a QB. The Cardinals front office isn't going to trade for a QB when they have a brand new coach. They will, like most front offices, force the coach to evaluate the current roster and make do with Kolb so they don't have to eat his bonus. Once the head coach shows Kolb isn't going to work in 2013, then we are able to draft a QB in the 2014 draft and then spend the 2014 season breaking in a rookie QB. So here is to 2015.

And if you want to know how I know this, it is exactly what they did with Whis.

I agree with 99.999% of this post. I never once heard Whisenhunt scapegoat a coach. He may have fired Davis and Pendergast but he never once called out a coach. Especially his two buddies Grimm and Miller.

I have a feeling Grimm and Miller will be gone regardless of Whiz's status with this team next season. Michael B. is going to force him to make tough decisions this offseason.

Plus, if you replace Whiz, you better have a solid replacement in mind.
it's not as easy as taking the trash out.

+1.

I never understood MD over the last two years, if he hates it here so much then why does he bother visiting ? Just to rip on people who 80% of them don't even know who he is ?

He hasn't posted anything worth a dingleberry on a racoons arse in years anyway. And if he does post it is to come in here call everyone stupid, and leave.

I dunno. Must have sat on a tack a while back, or maybe he ripped his pacman pants.

Too bad but oh well. Not the only poster that comes in here, never talks about football, and just insults people.

Maybe he is "shocked" people on a football message board would come on in to complain about said football team, on said board. I cannot fathom how that would be a shock to anyone, but since we are all so stinking stupid, maybe that is not what we are getting ? His MD'ness should come and show us how it is done properly. :D

NOTE: I too haven't " posted anything worth a dingleberry on a racoons arse in years" but at least it is about football. And while I slip up and call people names from time to time, I assure you I am as dumb as the next guy. LOL!

I don't know and risk losing the locker room. How pissed do you think those defensive players were when they played their hearts out for the 12th game in a row only to be told Lindley was their best chance to win?

Agreed.

How do you discpline Darnell Dockett cause he refused to let the Jets score a TD on purpose when your head coach is throwing games out the window ?

Do you tell Darnell the coaches told him to pack it in and let the Jets score because they were trying to win the game ?

How can you say that when the staff is not doing what it should to win the game ?

Sorry, it don't work that way.

Again, what success does Whiz have to show for his right to be a complete hypocrite to this team ?

Just doesn't make sense, that whole game didn't make sense.

who is going to complain about Kevin Kolb now?

I will.

Just because our organization can't pick out, coach up, or put a system in for a QB does make it OK to say Kevin Kolb is the answer.

We already have one player who is sub-average that is sticking around cause everyone else so bad in Levi Brown.

Do we really need to justify Kevin Kolb as a good QB because the other QB's on this roster would be the 2nd and 3rd stringers for St. Mary's school of the blinds football team ?

If Kevin Kolb is the answer then I hope the question is, who is the 2013 Arizona Cardinals backup QB.

If Kolb is the answer, the offensive coaching staff needs to tailor an offense predicated on his strengths (somthing that resembles a West Coast Offense) rather than running the clown schemes Miller has put in place.

The schemes are fine, we have wide open WR's running all over the place.

People need to direct their anger to the right place - the person or people who choose the QB's.

And no, Kolb never has been nor will be the answer to anything.
