I’d take a team of undersized, overachieving, handsome, Ivy Leaguers that can somehow manage a 4yr NFL career, over the group of aged ex-Steelers, un-system fitting defenders, crappy OT’s, #3 and #4 receivers, that wouldn’t be in any other NFL training camp, that our slow, stupid, cheap, unable to evaluate talent, sorry excuse for a front office has assembled, to be coached by 3rd choice, stubborn, know nothing, shouldn’t be coaching above HS level, coaches, that wouldn’t even rank in the top 10 of football knowledge if they posted on this board. Don’t you realize 2008 was an anomaly (and possible a sign of the apocalypse) never to be repeated as long as the slow, stupid, cheap, unable to evaluate coaches or FO staff, Biddwells own the team. RISE UP!!!

Well said, but I noticed you threw handsome in there :mulli:.

I also like what I saw from DeMarco Sampson. Good size, speed, and ran solid routes. Looked a little weak on down field blocking the times I watched. Could be a real find that late in the draft.

Lets hope he doesnt pull a Williams from last preseason & disappear once the lights go on. :D

I dont know why but I thought after reading up on DeMarco after we drafted him, he sounded like a better prospect than his SDSU teammate Vincent Brown...cross your fingers.

So, can we say that Schofield should be starting next week?

I find it hard to believe Wiz will move the Schohawk in from of Porter. IMO I would start him now & rest of the year while #55 comes off the pine, he needs the PT.

I guess I always assumed under that helmet was a handsome guy, since he went to Dartmouth and all.

Did Quan Sturdivant do anything?

The only thing of note that I saw was that he whiffed on a tackle at the goal line that would have pinned GB inside the one yard line late in the game with, (I believe), a third down upcoming.

Zach Walz: the poster boy for the horrendous Tobin/McGinnis era.

5 ten loss seasons in 8 years with rosters full of undersized "heart" guys and one fluke playoff season.

We have 3rd string LBs in camp right now who who would have been starting Defensive Tackles on those teams.

Sad days. But the tailgating was fun.

I agree about the tailgating @ SDS, it's where I mastered the craft:)

Question- If the playoff season was a fluke, there would have been nothing for the cheap Bidwills to “break up/dismantle” following the 1998 season. Do you believe that contentions made by many for almost 15 years now, that the off season following 1998 was one of the dark periods in Cardinals history and the cheap Bidwills destroyed a dynasty in the making??

**Personally I think that the idea of “The Spring Catastrophe of 1999” is one of the biggest crocks ever perpetuated.

But the "Blade" (pardon the pun) fit the Cardinal cookie cutter for undersized & unproductive LB's...a tradition thats been passed down to Wiz. :D

Levi Brown looked excellent last night!!!!

at getting penalties.

I really dont now why Wiz keeps putting up with his ****!!! Cut your loses & move on...I guarantee you if he wasn't picked #5 of the draft he would already be on the pine or working elsewhere & yet the HC continues to fill us full of coachspeak about Levi's production. :bang:

I really like that the defense recorded 4 sacks, (one each for CC, DD, D-Will, and O B Sco). I also like that CC credited the corner back play with giving the up-front guys enough time to record the sacks. Everybody but Horton has been saying that we need a pass rush in order to give the corners a break. Horton seems to have found a way to accomplish the same results the other way around. The corners are covering the receivers long enough for the big guys to get sacks. Either way works for me.

To some extent youre right Fish, but the starting LBs Porter & Haggans did very little applying pressure & when we blitzed guys were wide open. IMO Rodgers wouldve torched us for the entire game. Rodgers was 9-12 so lets not act like we stopped him...I'm still concerned about our D until I see them perform above average for an extended amout of time! Last night they were average...

I don't buy into it either.

1998 team really wasn't that good. Look at that offensive line other than Lomas Brown: Chris Dishman, Aaron Graham,Lester Holmes (responsible for my screen name. In the immortal words of Lester Holmes "Duckjake")and James Dexter.

Swann got hurt, Wadsworth got hurt,Mark Smith only played 2 games in 1999. Rob Moore and Murrell both played in 1999. The only guys they really lost were Lomas Brown and Jamir Miller. And of course it is the Miller deal where people get the idea the team was dismantled.

What killed them was that as guys left in '99 and '00 and '01 and '02 they replaced them with people like Bernard Wilson and Barron Tanner and Fred Wakefield and Joel Mackovica and Small Play Ray Thompson and 12 guys named LeVar.

But now we're looking at them getting guys like DeMarco Sampson and Carter in the 6th round. Schofield and Acho in the 4th round. And Housler and Sherman and Lyle Sendlein and Duece Lutui and Calais Campbell and Darnell Dockett. And of course the new 25% owner of the franchise Larry Fitzgerald. All of whom looked good last night. Not a LeVar in the bunch.

Too bad the cheap Bidwills dismantled the team LAST year. :D

By position (based mainly on the radio call and Around the League highlights):

QB - Kolb was good enough, but by no means perfect (he overthrew Fitz once or twice and shoudn't have taken the sack. As much as I like Skelton as a backup, I think Bartel played his way back even (though that dumb pick in the EZ does raise a red flag -and at the very least is something he can learn from). All three of these guys are putting space between themselves and Hall.

RB - Still sick over R Williams, but thought Alfonso Smith played well enough to earn a roster spot and make it unecessary to bring in outside help (except maybe to bolster depth to err' on the side of caution).

FB - Both Ali and Sherman (heh heh, remember Allie Sherman?) may turn out to be underrated members of the active roster.

WR - I think Sampson is playing his way onto the roster (& Steven Williams may be playing his way off. But I'm not at all ready to throw a 6- 5" guy with all the other skills under the bus - hopefully we'll find a way to keep both of them).

TE - Housler has shown enough to have made this team.

OL & DL - I'll delay comment til I see the entire game on TV this afternoon

LB - Schofield had a huge day. Don't remember the specifics, but I seem to remember Walker's name mentioned in conjunction with good plays made against us (I'll have to check out the video later today).

CB - Jefferson and Toler played well enough in their brief 1Q appearance to separate from Marshall, PP21 and the other CB's. Don't be surprised if Peterson shows up as a nickel guy who can also help out at SS.

ST - What's the deal with Graham (who boomed one for all of 32 yards when we needed to get out of our own territory)? Epperson had a 2 punt average net yardage figure of 47.5 yards. That's ridiculous.

From what I saw of the game Schofeld can bring it :D and Reggie Walker made the team imo.

Housler can play and will be utilized on 3rd downs. The reciever from SDSt. #89 stood out too. He'll make it tough on Komar to stick maybe. But I like what I see from Komar. He's just tough and gets the game. Like a Welker, maybe not as fast.

Hall is mtl history, he couldn't get the ball over on the out routes, go figure.
Bartell is solidly the #3 and with more reps could push Skelton some.

A voice of reason in re: to 1998!

On a side note Bernard Wilson was a “Catastrophe” casualty, he was here 94-98. His wife worked at the Greyhound Station with a buddy of mine. She’d take him to some games and he’d sit with all the wife’s, always told to watch his back. Strange that the wife of an NFL player would be working there?!?!

That would be stupid, Levi would cost more than DRC and a 2nd round pick to replace. It is a tough position to play, I seen Kolb get off some passes and blow some great opportunities.

The niners have 3 first round drft picks on their oline? who would you trade Levi for?

Me, none of them, Levi has done enough things right to get us to the SB.
some times We need to take the good with the bad and shutup and catfish.

You mark my word we have not seen the best of Levi and Deuce, We have the least amount of rush attempts in the NFL since Edge in 06.

They will put the hurts to a run defense when given the opportunity, long term.

I'm pretty sure I disagree with you. I'd be even more sure if I had a clue what you were actually saying.

Jeff Gollin used to ask annually on Cards Corner if Bernard Wilson had incriminating pictures of the coaches or the Bidwills. Crazy times and some awful football teams.

At Right Tackle. Not Left.

I'd put Bridges over there, LT, and move Levi back to RT so he could get help from the D Mountain. Then we'd be ok.

But the more I watch the more I like the D Mountain and Bridges on that right side.

We got 4 sacks on GB last night, HMMM they got 1.

Guys get mad at me for repeating things but damn,

We had well over 1200 pass attempts IN THE REGULAR seasons in 08 and 09, with 53 sacks! We showed pass and dared the defense to beat Kurt's release with the Blitz. Rarely running, most runs came out of a pass formation to SURPRISE the defense.

I have never heard any body but me say one good thing about LEVI BROWN on here, not once.

That is 1147+ plays HE did SOME THINGS right! And i don't know if another oline could have done that. At Least GSOT had Faulk with high RB production.

Yea we had 50 sacks last year, throwing 2/3rds of the time with scrub QB's, Damn Levi anyhow, how dare him garnish a Cards uniform with its great history of failure.

I like Bridges and may agree with the switch, to get Deuce and LB together for the run game, but Bridges aint no Smushdown Levi Brown, Nor is Keith.

Do what you want, I won't be an ingrate on Levi, I'm grateful for his work in AZ.

Good one.

But sadly the same type jokes we used to hear about Leonard Davis. 7 years and a first round draft pick later and we're right back where we started. :(
