He needs to figure out how to get Tom Hanks on board and it'll probably be an Oscar winnerRon Howard is a bit schmaltzy, but he's a hell of a storyteller.
How do you figure? Not really feeling it. Based on the Last Jedi, it sounds like Disney is preparing for this to bomb.
Bomb is relative when it comes to Disney. Hollywood gossip, but we'll see.How do you figure?
A source close to the film’s production has informed us:
Disney is bracing themselves for the Han Solo movie to bomb. They were worried about it before all The Last Jedi controversy, but now they’re essentially writing Solo off. The lead actor, Alden Ehrenreich, can’t act, and they had a dialogue coach on hand for all of his scenes. On top of that, the script is unworkable. It’s going to be a car crash.
I'm not sure how legit "screengeek" is, but the writer is described as, "UK based writer and comic book fan. " Consider the source. If they thought it was going to bomb, I'm not sure they'd release it when they are. Memorial Day is a big weekend in the summer.Bomb is relative when it comes to Disney. just can't wrap my head around a Solo movie... without the man who made Han Solo Han Solo.
Doesn't help that they hide Solo A LOT in the previews.
Making movies about characters that we already knew as old and going back is one thing. Harrison wasn’t old and going back suspends any belief that a new actor could have been Solo when he was young.
I hope it’s a great movie because I am not going to get past the actor thing.
Well, TLJ was also pulled from China much earlier than anticipated.I'm not sure how legit "screengeek" is, but the writer is described as, "UK based writer and comic book fan. " Consider the source. For me it's trying to portray a character that wasn't much older in the originals. When Ewan McGregor played Obi Wan it was believable since Obi Wan was so much older in the originals. And we only really got one film with the character. If we follow the SW timeline, SOLO probably occurs five or so years prior to SW. It just feels like there's a disconnect having him become the Solo we all know. Seems like he'd be Solo's son instead.Because it isn't Harrison Ford, or because you would have picked a different actor?

Bingo! Especially given the troubling rumors. My friend has pointed out the fatal flaw in this movie, and in the concept of this movie.
Han Solo begins as an a-hole smuggler who has a magnificent arc into roguish hero. Before Star Wars, he was a complete a-hole. So this movie can be about an a-hole who is just an a-hole, which nobody wants to see, or it can falsify his character arc and make him a non-a-hole well before he reformed. Just...problems.
There’s actually a hole in that fatal flaw.
There’s actually a hole in that fatal flaw. Han couldn’t have been 100% a-hole because his best friend is Chewy and throughout all of Star Wars chewy has been an upstanding individual. Chewy wouldn’t be best friends with an a-hole. A self-absorbed hot shot? Yeah that I can believe. But a 100% a-hole as chewy’s bestie? Naw.
Except didn't Han save his life/save him from slavery, thus having him swear loyalty for life or something? I mean, that in itself could be considered a nice thing, but...All of that aside, I myself never had much use for this idea. It would have to be a home run to be any good, IMO, otherwise I would hate it.
Was never impressed with their choice for Solo. The clear choice to me was Anthony Ingruber. The actor must look like Solo to sell this. Ingruber played a younger Ford in The Age of Adeline so well that many assumed it was CGI. He's just the spitting image of a young Ford.
From the trailer it seemed like they were reluctant to show the lead actor much. Likely because he just isn't "Solo." SMH.
It was dumb from JUMP because of the close age gap from this movie to Star Wars ANH.
