Whoa! I think Chewbacca might die in this!

LOL. That might be quite the timeline paradox. That train better go into hover mode and be able to travel through time.

Actually, I admit though. This is the first look at the movie that makes me want to see it. Strangely enough, it's not because of Han Solo. It's because of Chewbacca. In fact, I would have wanted to see more of how Chewbacca, the rest of the Wookies made it off Kashyyyk or didn't which would explain why we only ever see Chewbacca.

they should have made a Chewy movie, ala the new Planet Of The Apes movie, set entirely in his world. That movie I would have wanted to see over this.

Was never impressed with their choice for Solo. The clear choice to me was Anthony Ingruber. The actor must look like Solo to sell this. Ingruber played a younger Ford in The Age of Adeline so well that many assumed it was CGI. He's just the spitting image of a young Ford.

From the trailer it seemed like they were reluctant to show the lead actor much. Likely because he just isn't "Solo." SMH.
You paint yourself in a corner thinking like this. What if Ingruber was bad in his audition (if he auditioned)? Just because was ok playing a young Harrison Ford (not young Han Solo) in a drama film from a few years ago, doesn't mean he can pull off a science-fiction hero like Solo.

At least Ehrenrich has some pedigree behind him. Ingruber has The Age of Adaline and a bunch of voice work in short films. Just because he resembles Ford doesn't make him the choice to be Han Solo.

I'm a huge fan so obviously I'll still see it, but I've been Meh on the project since it was announced. Even with Ingruber (and assuming he'd have pulled it off decently) I feel that Han Solo in the original trilogy had the perfect character introduction and character arc and his backstory did not need to be put on film. I can't imagine them telling a story that adds anything to the character we are all familiar with from his fantastic unedited introduction in Mos Eisley.

By and large I agree. He was a smuggler who was turned to a heart of gold. My concern is they make him a hero before he actually became a hero in Star Wars. If they stayed true to the story arc he should be a sarcastic jerky smuggler - but I don’t see them doing that.

This. It would fundamentally change who the character is. This movie no matter how fun or how good still seems completely unnecessary to me. Also, the fact that Harrison Ford was young in Star Wars and yet somehow we are supposed to bridge the gap that these actors looking so different just a few years apart is jarring for me.

I wouldn't have minded a Solo adventure if they explored the backstory of Chewbacca and what happened to the Wookies post Clone Wars leading up to meeting Han. That would have been epic IMO and something I would have been excited about.

They’re planning on a trilogy. Of Han Solo. Without Han Solo.

Stupid.

Wait I thought I read he was signed for a three film deal but it wouldn’t be 3 Solo films. It was in case they wanted his character to appear in 2 other standalone films but not necessarily to star in them!?!?

Who knows.

Again, I’d rather see a movie of Wookies fight for their independence than two hours of Not Han Solo... retconning Han Solo and prob cutting his nuts off in the process.

I have tickets for Friday at 1:15. My son has a half day at school and my summer hours of half day Fridays at work start that day.

My family is. It's Star Wars after all. The reviews seem to be pretty good.

I've been a diehard Star Wars fan since seeing the original film on the big screen as a kid, but have almost no interest in seeing this crap.

The lead looks nothing like Solo because the first directors modeled this film after the Star Trek reboot series and felt if Chris Pine could be Kirk without looking like him so why not Solo? Uh, because this is supposed to be within the same universe and actually be the same exact character shortly before he appears in a Mos Eisley cantina, that's why.

This film is completely unnecessary but if it had to be made the lead should have been a ringer for Harrison Ford - like Anthony Ingruber. Before someone knocks him for lack of acting chops - Alden was struggling so much on the set of this film that an acting coach was brought in (mid-production) to help him.

And the latest - a Dumbledore move of sorts - one of the film's writers has "revealed" that Lando is pansexual. Give me a freaking break.
