I'm guessing this hire plays to the Cardinals strength, defense. Like the hire. Now bring on a solid offensive coordinator.

His success will reside with whether Keim can FINALLY do everything necessary to get Wilkes a stud franchise QB who can at times put this team on his back when things look grim & his ability to bring in the right coordinators.

Ohhhh please Lord I’m getting old, it’s time! :pullhair:
Disagree. His success will depend on being able to set up an elite defense to give Keim time to find a franchise QB. This offense is a long ways away, especially with a defensive head coach. My guess is that we sign Teddy Birdgewater to be QB, and don't draft a QB in round 1 unless one of the big four drops to us.

Watch for one of Ken Dorsey and/or Mike Shula to join Cardinals staff

Is Mayfield a "big 4" ??? I ask because many mocks have him dropping to about our level in the draft

I'm stoke and will be even more if John DeFilippo comes in as OC and bring Nick Foles with him for one year while Lamar Jackson is groomed.
Foles is under contract! No way should anyone give anything more than a 4th rounder if that!

Baker the touchdown maker!

Somebody said his contract in the final year is voidable by him.. If true and he goes out and wins a SB he'd be crazy to not void it... Especially with the starter Wentz coming back next year

Couple of notes.
"Arizona did not settle on Wilks"
"Wilks impressed from the beginning".

PP should be careful about what he says because Wilks is probably going to expect him to actually tackle someone.
Bettcher seemed more of the passive type...probably didn't challenge PP very much as he didn't want to ruffle feathers. Wilkes will get in his face and challenge him, which is what PP needs.

Props to Somers for breaking this before national guys.

Speaking of which, anyone know why Jurecki is getting roasted on Twitter? Apparently, he guaranteed Munchak to Arizona??

Keim learnt nothing from Brandon Williams pick did they? And this one has far more consequences. I like Keim but this is too much even for my liking. SMH
What do you mean by this? I think Wilks introducing himself as they were both out in public is a cool gesture

I think Jurecki was indicating Munchak will likely be signed. So getting some flak. To his credit, until Munchak declined Cards were interested in him.

At the risk of over simplification: Keim hires a guy he "fell in love with" while sipping pina coladas at a vacation. Like "falling in love with small school prospects"

Hope Wilks works out for Cardinals. I really do.

In interviews during that time much of that credit was given directly to Ken Whisenhunt and that comes direct from Rivers... Im not sure how much McCoy meddled in the Offense when he had a guy with Whiz experience..

This...McCoy was HC...he brought in Whis, who helped Rivers...Then Whis leaves for Tenn and Rivers sucks again...then Whis gets blow out of Tenn and goes back to SD, and Rivers is good again. See the pattern?

Hey, the last Carolina DC to get hired, did pretty good in his 1st season as HC...so there is hope and precedent for Wilks

I wonder if our interest in DeFillipo/Flores was more as coordinators under Wilks, and if they both declined to come out for interviews this week under that context, given the Super Bowl prep. Could be why this has picked up legs so quickly this morning.

I honestly think we were pretty enamored with DeFilippo, but were hoping we could maybe entice him to come with Wilks. But now that Flip couldn't hire anyone until after the Super Bowl, we were probably concerned that the assistant coaching ranks were going to run dry with Shurmur allowed to sign now.

If they were only being considered for coordinator roles, permission must have been asked for that accordingly...AND the PATS and EAGLES could have blocked the interview. I doubt the Eagles would block DeFlip for a promotion, since they aren't losing their OC, but the Pats most definitley would probably block a move for Flores, since they are losing Patricia and would undoubtedly want to keep Flores as their DC.
