Agreed, there, cheese. The show continues to hit you over the head with unexpected twists. Phil talking about getting out? Who would have thought that 2 years ago?

And call me crazy, I think that idea is starting to crawl into Tony's brain as well.

It sounded to me like Phil was planning on making waves. I thought he was complaining about being a good soldier and still getting the short end, and that he wasn't going to play that way anymore.

me too - I thought Phil's speech was the beginning of storm clouds brewing on the horizon and combined with Tony's group coming apart at the seams with everyone's subconscious hating Tony for one reason or another, basically a sign that the Sopranos apocalypse draws near.

That's what I was thinking too. Tony is also very fearful of the feds now too. It could all be crashing at once.

i took that speech to mean that phil was going to kill tony now that johnny sac wasn't around to stop him. if not tony, than chris. that's what he wanted initially when his brother was killed.

He will probably hit that 'Doc' guy first. He seemed disgusted at NY.

I really don't know how he feels about Tony. I thought maybe things calmed down between the two of them after Tony poured his heart out at the hospital bed.

At the same time, I really don't know what to think about Tony. He turned out just like Junior from season 1, except he really runs things. 'He eats alone'

I think that's kind of the point of the whole series, anyone who sits at the head of the family, ultimately sits alone... "it ends one of two ways, in jail or dead"... Johnny Sac's speech about how hard it is to be at the head of the family, Carmine's speech about why he never took control... it's lonely at the top and there's only one of two ways it likely ends, and neither one is pretty.

can't wait to see what happens next. gonna watch last night's episode again right now ondemand to see what else i missed.

hot damn! that song at the end is just freaking HAUNTING.

Just watched last night's episode again... Phil definitely ain't getting out... he's gonna make up for lost time, dating all the way back to when the immigration people screwed up his family's name and dubbed them "leotardo".

"leotardo, that's my legacy. not any more butchy, not anymore."

the look in Christopher and Tony's eyes as they're hugging at then end.

two of the greatest moments in Sopranos history, without a hint of violence. it's the little moments that make this show just beyond spectacular theater.

man, can this season continue to be as good as it's been? Can it even get better? If it does, it could be the greatest end run of any TV franchise ever because the beginning of it is simply as good as it gets entertainment wise.

wow. just wow.

Things don't look good for Christopher.

You're right, the music at the end of the episode was absolutely "haunting".

As you said it's the little things.

OK, now I want to watch it a second time too.

This episode was fantastic. The guy getting shot at dinner was very jarring and unexpected.

The thing I love about this show is how much goes unsaid. Sometimes the silence is deafening.

No kidding. I had to watch that scene twice because it was so shocking the first time.

cheesebeef nailed my thoughts exactly.

Me too...I watched it three times. The first time was WTF? Second time I watched to see how it went down. Third time just to appreciate it.

no kidding. i was wondering the other night as i tried to fall asleep about the way the boat was rocking. do you think that was supposed to be like that from the get go, or did they get on the boat to film and it was like that naturally? either way, brilliant.

As a full-blooded Italian from New York, with a huge where many of the closely resemble the characters, I would certainly vouch for the authenticity of the show! The boat scene was classic... Pauly making "gravy" down below was beautiful!!

Scenes with Pauly and Tony were fantastic. But wasting half a show on Jr. who is pretty much a non entity in the show was a big waste of space for a show that only has 6 hours left in it. Just write him out of the show already.

I liked the scenes with Junior. That poker game was funny.

I have a flush. No, you don't.

Oh they are funny. But really pointless as far as where this show is headed. Its just time filler and nothing more. I expect better from these writers.

It is loosely related to Tony seeing "the way things used to be" falling apart. Junior actly like he is a Boss and then muttering or soiling himlself.

I wish they would have had more with the Shah of Iran. When that guy ate off his plate I thought he would meet a far worse end.

mulli is correct
Also, it adds a bit of irony the Jr was once a big time mobster but is now pissing himself and being beaten down by some young deranged punk. Circle of life

None the less its still just filler and really has no bearing on where this show is headed whatsoever. Entertaining? Yea! Meaningful? NO!

i totally disagree - Junior has been a major character on this show throughout his run -- you have to give him closure and I think that's exactly what that episode did.

there's still PLENTY of time left in this show - 6 hours is a long time.
