My prediction, which was in this thread earlier, is when all is said and done, Carmella ends up with the business. ;)

Women are subservient in that culture. There's no way it happens.

That sucked. They built us up to watch 2 tweekers for a whole hour. The NY gang could have killed Chris or something.

Yeah seriously the writing on this show is starting to piss me off. It was a buildup show that could really lead into the final 8 with a bang ... starting the mob war (which they've been hinting to for 3 straight season yet for some reason continuing to back out of it)

Its a show about the mob not the life story of Christopher and his damned rehab and then promptly falling off the wagon. Seriously where are they trying to take this show? Its driving me crazy

He directs mostly.

He's only been involved in the writin of a couple of episodes

The writing staff this season includes the show's creator, David Chase, which makes the way the season ended tonight even more bizzare

This is how I see it. Tony gets killed by Phil. AJ nuts up and smokes Phil. Last shot we ever see of Sopranos is AJ staring down a dead Phil after he kills him.

The Soprano family starts anew...all of Tony's therapy didn't stop the cycle of father follows son from taking place again. he may have fixed himself, but he did not fix his family. AJ is already Tony with women...he's a puss now, but gets angry. Couldn't kill his uncle, but WILL kill his father's killer and will get power because of it. He showed smarts by trading the bike for some ****, so he is smart in that respect.

Mark it down...this series comes down to AJ becoming Tony. And Tony dies. No witness protection for Gandolfini...

I believe this season was written before they knew they would go one more. I think the original intention was to end it just as we saw it last night.

That said, get the war on already.

If thats true that is downright pathetic.

Last nights episode was a complete waste of time. Almost makes watching the first 9 a waste of time. They keep hinting at a War and it just never happens. Once again Tony goes to Phil like a fricking puzzy and tries to make amends.

Terrible terrible episode! But an even worse season finale!

I dotn even want to hear that anytime we get with these characters it is great crap. That blew!

So AJ can't even scare three teenage punks into leaving the block, he has to bribe them with a bike, and he is going to lead an organized crime family? Me thinks you are really reaching, my friend.

I thought the Tony/Phil scene was pretty powerful and poingnant. Tony knows a war is not in the family's best interest. The way he stared down that guy while leaving Phil's room was not a frickin puzzy move at all.

I don't mind the slow pace you guys are complaining about. I'm content to just let the writers take it wherever.

I think what will be interesting is to see how much time passes in the show between now and the next episode. If it is 6 months or more, I can see AJ following in the family's footsteps much more plausible.

I was postponing my visit here because I knew I would have to read comments from all of the disappointed viewers. I thought it was a pretty good episode. However, I don’t judge the quality of each episode on the amount of violence that takes place. I just enjoy sitting back and watching these characters that I’ve been following for several years now. With that being said, I imagine there will be a lot more violence in the final 8. I just sense a wild ride coming.

I think I remember reading that no time will pass between this episode and the next. That’s probably why they finished off with Christmas. Isn’t the next one coming out in January?

Whats wrong with comments from dissapointed viewers? Do you only believe that what you see is the correct point of view referance the show?

You know what its fine that you guys like to sit there and watch the characters of this show. But the bottom line is in 6 years worth of seasons they have had plenty of time and have done more than enough character development. We all know what the characters are like, what their traits are, how they operate, etc... etc...

This was a lackluster season finale. In fact it was terrible. This show has been teasing a war for long enough. Its time to have it. The perfect time to start it and get everone dialed in for the final 8 would have been last night. But instead they aired that garbage and hint at the fact that yet again they may be no war between the families.

I don't think so...trading the bike for them leaving showed that AJ has some smarts..he'd have gotten his ass kicked by those guys, so he used an alternative way to get things done.

If AJ sees Tony get killed by Phil, he will smoke him right there. I think the last image we will see is AJ looking at Phil dying on the ground by a dead Tony. The cycle continues...you don't know what he does next, but he takes his first steps in his father's footsteps.

Shades of Micheal Corleone. I could be way off base, but I think I'm pretty close to what they are trying to set up here.

Trust me I have considered it. The show since season 5 has gone downhill. Only problem is they still have an occasionally great episode. Much like the episode this season where Pauly finds about who his real mom is. So if I wanna see the good I have to stick through the awful bad like last night.
