I was sure Chris was going to be killed. It was a good episode, but it certainlty did not meet my expectations. I think this season was really the lull before the storm.

With the Cards in the playoffs and The Sopranos final 8 shows, January will be a great month.
Not to mention the Cardinals and Chargers Super Bowl in February! :)

Final two 'Sopranos' end pay rift
Entire cast on board for final episodes

Wednesday, July 5, 2006; Posted: 9:18 a.m. EDT (13:18 GMT)

After lengthy and acrimonious negotiations, Tony Sirico and Steven Van Zandt -- the last key actors without new deals -- reached an agreement with HBO Friday to continue on the Emmy-winning series.

Under the new pact, Sirico and Van Zandt will be paid about double their most recent per-episode fee of $85,000, sources said.

In a widely publicized salary dispute, Sirico and Van Zandt, who play Paulie Walnuts and Silvio Dante, respectively, for months refused to budge from their $200,000 per-episode asking price. That was more than any other cast member -- except for stars James Gandolfini and Edie Falco -- had made on the show and miles from HBO's initial offer of a 10 percent raise.

It was less than a week before "The Sopranos" was slated to go back into production when, after numerous rounds of negotiations, Sirico and Van Zandt received an offer they couldn't refuse.

After a series of down-to-the-wire deals for all "Sopranos" supporting actors, the entire cast of David Chase's groundbreaking series is expected to convene for a table read Thursday, when production on the final episodes of the show is slated to begin.

It bugs me that last season took place in Summer and was shown in Winter. Looks like that will be the case this year too.

Yeah the last episode ended with them at Christmas time. It made me not want to go to work

The Sopranos return! In, uh, March
07/12/2006 03:38:48
PASADENA, Calif. -- Remember how The Sopranos was going to come back for eight final episodes in January?

Not gonna happen.

James Gandolfini's knee surgery, combined with the prospect of bringing the show back during the middle of the NFL playoffs, has pushed the beginning of the end back.

"It definitely won't be January," Chris Albrecht, HBO's CEO and chairman, said. "Most likely it'll be the beginning of March.

"And I know you all hope people die."

Sure, they're happy. They don't come back till March now. Rest up, guys.

Well, yeah, sort of. The Sopranos got a lot of grief at the end of its last run for going out with more of a whimper than a bang. I didn't necessarily agree -- oh, I guess I could have gone for a major character getting whacked, but I got over it -- but there was a clear sentiment that not enough happened, that the season, despite Tony getting shot in the first episode, was lackluster.

Albrecht, as you might imagine, wasn't one of the disappointed.

"I thought the show was great.... David Chase is not interested in meeting what expectations other people might have for the show," he said.

By those lights, he certainly succeeded.

Who knows what'll happen at the end of the show? Well, Albrecht, for one, but, no surprise, he's not saying. That didn't stop a critic from asking whether Tony lives or dies.

"Are you HIGH?" Albrecht asked. "I might as well shoot myself in the head."

That's a hint! He's hiding clues! Oh, forget it.

Whatever the case, if the show begins in March, that'll mean a year between seasons. Which is, of course, shorter than the 18 months between the last two, but is still a long time, and risky coming off a season that a lot of viewers didn't like. How much patience do even the biggest Sopranos fans have? We'll find out.

At least they're giving us something meaty to chew on. Rome returns for its second season in January. Long wait for that, as well, but it wasn't, as they say, built in a day.

I am starting my yearly Sopranos Holiday Marathon. I have rewatched the first two episodes. Tony and Carmela have changed so much for the better since the first episode. I miss Tony's mom though. She was great.

"Go into the ham......."

Classic.

That’s a pretty good idea, I might do the same. My last marathon was last January, right before season 6 began.

I was glad to see Livia go, she really got on my nerves.

She was supposed to get on your nerves...:)

I have to vote for Christopher as the best actor on the series, but I know you could say that about four or five of the actors.

Adrianna is also a favorite.

By one episode. Hey, it's better than nothing! This was confirmed by Steve Schirripa over the weekend while he was being interviewed at the recent Comic Relief show. Schirripa, who plays Bobby Baccala, didn't have much to say other than the first six episodes are done and he's still alive and kicking.

So this means that the second half of the HBO mob drama's sixth and final season will have nine episodes instead of eight. The series returns on April 8 (wouldn't surprise me in the least if that changed again)
and if you're looking to play catch up you can see the first half of the season right now on HBO OnDemand. Either that or you can check out the DVD, which just came out recently. Whichever method you choose, prepare to be let down. I know myself, along with plenty of other Sopranos fans, were sorely disappointed with the first 12 episodes of this season. Here's to hoping that the final nine are worth the wait.

I just watched the Johnnie Cake episode again. Who weighed more last year, Bobby Baccala, Vito, or Tony?

I would have to vote Tony. He looked huge.

Also the scene in Melfi's office, when Tony said, "Part of me just wants to say God bless, a salud." Awesome scene. "My incarceration was very short."

Hah!!

I am going to start watching this from the beginning as soon as I finish S5 of 24 (one more disc left) and Lost Season 2.

I am trying to get the Complete Alias set, and that may push Sopranos back too.

I have the "wife factor" I have to measure in. She is much more willing to watch Alias, as she loves 24 like I do. Sopranos is a whole 'nother genre.
