He's always been a spare IMO. He had a few huge plays 2 years ago & didn't really play all that well other than possibly 1 game.

I'd cough up next years #2 for McCarron or Glennon right now & see if they would bite. Both are soooo much better than Stanton!!!

I doubt Arians is even considering looking for another #2 QB.

It was only November of 2014 when Arians said "We can win the Super Bowl with Drew Stanton. There is no doubt in my mind."

Remember, Arians originally brought Stanton in as his starter.

Yeah, I said it last week, he is terrible. I have zero confidence in that guy. He gets plenty of reps in preseason, practice, and has started in this league numerous times. He should not look scared in there. Barkley commands the huddle much more. I dont see why we automatically anoint Stanton the backup...

Arians always speaks so highly of Drew, and I really like Drew. I think he's a good presence in the locker room and Carson seems to enjoy having him around.

All that being said, whenever he gets on the field I have high hopes, and he's just, how do I say this,,,, Not good at football?

I mean I know he's a backup and he's a good guy, but we should get one who is like, all that but also good at football.

Stanton is getting worse each year somehow.

And he's not getting any younger. During the Raiders game, I thought "Man, he looks awful, but at least he is still young and learning." Then they put up a stat saying he was 32. Suddenly, I was like "Man, we really need to find a more competent backup QB." Seriously. We need either a new young gun QB or a solid backup that we believe could actually compete for the starting job. I don't think too many of us have a wealth of confidence in Stanton if Palmer gets hurt.

I don't get the love affair with Glennon. If he was so good Tampa wouldn't keep drafting QB's or go with Josh McClown over him. I would have much rather we went and got Mettenberger who was easy picking for cheap. I think he would make a better backup than Stanton or Glennon. Hell, Barkley looks better than Stanton.

The thing is, both can actually play & perform quite well. Maybe a 2nd is stretching it, but I'm pretty sure neither could be had for less & both are miles ahead at being better NFL QBs than Stanton

1st of all, I believe they've only drafted 1 since Glennon was on the roster & that was with the #1 pick. At that point, you basically have to draft a QB if a potential good one is on the board.

Mettenberger better than McCarron or Glennon? Lol now that's hilarious :doi: He's gawd darn awful.

Please give me Glennon's resume. I'll help. He was so great that they went out and got Josh McClown then Tampa drafted Winston. Doesn't give me a world of confidence that he was replaced by an aging QB then shoved aside for a better QB option. As for McCarron, again, give me his resume. Wait, he doesn't have one. Mettenberger at least has the tools and is a drop back QB that Arians likes. He's certainly better than what we have right now backing up Palmer. Mettenberger's numbers are comparable to Glennon and he had far less tools to work with. That is a fact. Tennessee gave him nothing to work with while Glennon had Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans to throw to. I'm not saying Mettenberger is the QBOTF, I'm saying he's much better than anything we have backing up Palmer.

Eh, I'd rather just trade up in the first round for a QB instead of getting scammed out of a 2nd round pick for mediocre QBs just because they looked good against mediocre defenses by doing lots of checkdowns.

Stanton is getting worse instead of better. Not impressed with Barkley either.

Time to bring in someone who can make decisions and at least throw a halfway accurate pass.

There has to be someone better out there??????

At least you can hope Barkley can improve. Stanton is getting worse. Being outplayed badly by opposing team backups this preseason.

I can't stand watching him to be honest.

Stanton's most memorable play as an NFL QB, will always be his sideline dance...Of that, I am certain.

I'm sorry but comparing the 3 guys based off actual field performance is laughable, look it up yourself. Forget the measureables & so called "fit" because Blogan Thomas "fit" as well lol Mettenberger is pure trash
