Sweet!

This is part of one of the things I really liked about the trailer. Namly, the fact that many of the elements of what we saw were apparent upgrades, or improvements, to items from the original trilogy.

The X-Wings, the Rebel pilot uniforms, the Stormtrooper outfits. They all looked like they did before, just slightly modified.

And the Millennium Falcon looked the same.

Kudos to Abrams & Co. for that.

Only difference seemed to be the shape (rectangular) of the replacement dish - replacing the previous (round) one which Lando broke off when flying inside the second Death Star.

I don't really mind the light saber. The beams coming out of the side would in fact prevent your hand from getting chopped off IMO. Also, I like that fact it appears to be a broad sword which would be a different style of sword play.

However, the nerdgasm part of that trailer was in fact watching the Falcon in action. It was sooooooo smooth in flight like we have never seen it before. Unreal.

@#$@#$@ December?!?!? Damn.

No it wouldn't. In a glissade attack, or a corps-a-corps, or even just an accidental slide down the blade, the blade slides straight down the other blade, not to the side of it. If a light saber slid down that light saber's blade, it would score the metal, not the light saber side guards. Since light sabers slice directly through metal...

Aaaaand, I'm a huge geek :)

I had this debate with one of my older brothers (who teaches fencing and competed in the junior Olympics). He has taught and studied many techniques.

Any person carrying a broad sword doesn't fight in a typical fashion. The fighting style of the regular light saber is more of a samurai. The fighting style of someone using a broad sword is with power and strength. He wouldn't be having a finesse type sword fight locking with sabers.

He mentioned the same thing that you did in that the metal coming out of the blade could get chopped off rendering the side beams useless but in some cases the light saber melts metal not simply chops it off. He said if he designed it, it would have come with some sort of bell guard using the same tech from General Grievous's guards.

However, he did agree that nobody would be flipping and twirling that sword (as some have argued) and chopping off his own hands. He also said that he would be no less likely to lose his hand than any other Jedi using a normal light saber (with no guard) and that if anything those blades could deflect a strike a time or two. He said someone carrying this sword would be trained for short decisive sword fights not some long sword duel where he would probably be outmatched.

This actually ties in to a recent rumor that said the light-saber duels in this one will be minimalistic yet powerful.

So something that was pointed out today.....at the very end of the trailer, you hear a lightsaber. That's actually the exact sound bite from when Luke first turns on his lightsaber from Star Wars ANH.

It allegedly was s purposeful Easter egg that points to some Luke action with his trusty weapon we can look forward too.

2nd Teaser Trailer for 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' To Be Released Soon

http://www.latino-review.com/news/2...ar-wars-the-force-awakens-to-be-released-soon

As much as we all liked the recent teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, I felt a little disappointed that it did not include any footage of our original classic heroes.

We have been waiting for 32 years to see any new footage of Luke, Leia, Han and Chewie blasting into new adventures, the wait is almost over.

I got off the phone last night with my source and was able to confirm that we will see the new 2nd teaser trailer that will include all our classic heroes attached to the Avengers: Age of Ultron on May 1st, 2015.

I hope their info is good. Latino Review has been wrong a lot about TFA so far. Before the new Avengers makes sense from a lot of perspectives. Sure would have been nice for a Super Bowl teaser though.

May 1st can't come fast enough. Also, I agree with moving it up as long as the movie quality doesn't suffer. Summer Star Wars?!??!? AWESOME!

Except that Disney has Avengers in May and Ant Man in July. Where will they put it? They would almost certainly have to move one of them (probably Ant Man).

Oh yeah, Avengers is May 1st, and I doubt they will move that one.

May 1 makes sense, but May 4th or May 25th might be better ;)
Yeah I know they are Mondays, though.
