continuing to bring up stuff that wasn't in the movies is really silly, IMO.

It’s silly to bring up canon? If it was the EU I would agree. Especially considering there has been Easter eggs that reference stuff outside the movies (a la Star Wars Rebels).

Enjoyed the film very much. Probably the best since the originals so I'd rank it 4th.

Finns arc was just blah again. They should have completed Leia's and been done with the old and on to the new rebellion.

I assume next movie will be big on a Finn/Poe romance and Rey/Ren relationship.

Yes. I’d venture to guess 85% of the General Star Wars viewing public has no clue what you’re talking about.

You think Finn and Poe are gay?

I agree with you guys. It may be unknown to the causal fan but the type of people asking these types of questions are die hards. Casual fans don’t ask questions about Obi or Yoda’s intentions either. They just watch the film forget about the details 10 minutes after.

The point I was making is that the die hards that pay attention to every detail, the novelizations, the video games, the Easter eggs in the movies are targeted by Lucas Film and the writers. The information is available. Those people will take the time to get the details. The information is out there for them to put the pieces together.

The diehards aren’t the target audience of the movies. The average consumer is. They know the die hards will remain so.

Both die hards and casual fans are. Purely from a financial perspective you target mass audiences if you want a franchise. I don’t think that is being debated and a totally different topic. However, die hard fans are always part of the equation which is why there are so many Easter Eggs, video games, novelizations and collectible toys.

Except the die hards will never like the movies. You are proof of that.

Says who? Most die hards like the movies even if they are critical of them. Where did I say I didn’t like the movies? There is only one film I can honestly say I didn’t like. TPM but at least they had some memorable things from it nevertheless.

I’ve seen all the movies but I wouldn’t call myself a die hard fan.

I liked the fight scenes. I liked the Rey/Ren storyline.

Really didn’t like how they portrayed Luke and thought the Finn/Rose storyline was pointless.

All in all, the movie was entertaining but wasn’t great, in my opinion.

Ouch... but good point.

Could say the same for Poe at this point also.

They are really wasting two GREAT actors on those two roles. Boyega and Isaacs (especially) are incredibly talented.

To be honest, felt like Rey was kinda wasted also in this movie too.

Take that back. We now know intimately the sanitation functions of Starkiller Base.

P.S. I still like his character.

it really suxx man.. I like the character too for the most part... but TFA smacked of him just being a token, to prove there are black humans in the star wars galaxy other than Mace Windhu... they have done nothing to change that...so far the guy just provides some limited comic relief
now see, in the final chapter... if we see kylo sitting with his face in his hands bemoaning the difficulties of being a galactic bad guy, then suddenly the door slides open, and Finn shoots him in the face.... then as we pan away we see Kylo was sittin on the dumper and died much like Tywin Lannister,..well, that would make good use of that character.
and then he can flush him,...because he knows the sanitation system in a starkiller base can handle one wimpy wannabe sith lord...

Did nobody notice that his force projection was basically the same Luke in appearance as he was several years earlier at the Jedi Temple? That decidedly major difference in appearance, even though the time hasn't been THAT long also shows just how used up Luke is.

Cool point. I saw the movie today and was puzzled by Luke's younger appearance in that scene, but I didn't get past that.

If it makes a trillion dollars, I don’t think the reaction will bother them. But I bet his trilogy gets a little shorter leash .

I mean, this sucker will still end up with AT LEAST 600 million domestic which will be good enough for top 5 ever and it wouldn’t surprise me if it got mid 700 to take the number 2 spot. Most mixed review peeps like me want to see it again as do the rabid fans.

Its already at $423 million. It made $220 million its first weekend.

I am not sure they were going for younger vs just look as similar as Kylo remembered. I could be wrong but the dead giveaway for me was the hair.

yrah have to completely disagree with you. We saw just as much Snoke as we saw sidious. Both were bit players. They didn’t “play” Snoke up at all. And in support of this, did you see any Snoke toys? No. But you did see phasma toys. And this season even the Black evil BB9 who had less air time than Snoke. Where’s HIS development if we want to get really silly about this.

Who the hell would want a Snoke doll?? Freak kids out.

The Extended Universe is out. Nothing but the movies, novelizations based on the movies, Star Wars Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebel TV shows are now canon. So, far all of them have purposely interwoven connections to each other.

What or who is Canon? The Star Wars story connections?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_(fiction)

In fiction, canon is the material accepted as officially part of the story in the fictional universe of that story. It is often contrasted with, or used as the basis for, works of fan fiction. The alternative terms mythology, timeline, universe and continuity are often used, with the former being especially used to refer to a richly detailed fictional canon requiring a large degree of suspension of disbelief (e.g. an entire imaginary world and history), while the latter two typically refer to a single arc where all events are directly connected chronologically. Other times, the word can mean "to be acknowledged by the creator(s)."

Saw this for the second time... it was interesting. The stuff I originally liked, I liked even more and the stuff I didn’t like, I didn’t mind as much.

The whole Snoke/Rey/Kylo sequence intercut with the Rebels fleeing/Holdo’s heroics was really aces. Great twists, turns and all action rolled up together.

And I didn’t mind Luke being a little hinky throughout or his cockiness at the end. It was a great send off for Luke.

But that being said, what really bothered me the most about the end and entire saga so far is that Kylo Ren is ultimately just a little bitch and no matter what they do during the movies to build him up, they tear down at the end making him look like a screaming baby. So, there’s just no bad guy who’s formidable going into the last movie, which takes the air out of the balloon for me going into the capper.

So, stand alone, it’s pretty good... with some moments of greatness and luke’s victory helping the others escape is awesome. But as the second act of the story, it doesn’t leave me wanting all that much more.
