Rodgers and Rosen have a relationship and have been described as similar. I think that might taint a McCarthy/Rosen relationship before it even started.

Sounds like Philly fans when they wanted Andy Reed gone.....

Mike is good and will land on his feet....he's a good coach and 5 times the coach Wilks is.

If the Cardinals are going for McCarthy, it will be because McCarthy gets word to Mike Bidwill he wants to be here. This is generally a huge no no in the coaching fraternity. You dont ask for the job of a guy who still holds it.

But, I am sure it can and has happened many times. But Bidwill ain't chasing him while Wilks has a job.

McCarthy has had a top five all time QB during an era where QB's performances matter more than ever. He has had a solid front office, that while it has struggled to field a good defense, has done a reasonable job to surround Rodgers with solid players. Often his offensive schemes have been the issue, not QB play.

He has clearly been a detriment to Rodgers play; Rodgers often makes plays outside of his schemes.
So, then, is it safe to say that the coaches of Tarkenton, Marino, Kelly, Fouts, Moon, were a detriment to them? McCarthy at least won a Super Bowl while Shula never did with Marino, Grant, Levy, Coryell(who many on this forum believe he belongs in the HOF) didn't.

You guys realize successful coaches are most likely tied to good QBs. Belichick was 5-14 in NE and they wanted him run out of town until Bledsoe went down and this guy named Brady took over. I guess some here wouldn't want Belichick because he hasn't won a thing without Brady.

He at least went 11-5 without Brady.

Different era. Nice try.

So all former QBs should be coaches? Or if you have a good QB it's a sign it's all the QB and not the coach? Might as well field a team of all QBs at every position. Fact is McCarthy is a good coach period. We should be grateful if he is the one to get us out of Wilks hell. Make no mistake even after beating GB it's still hell

I just don't know. Obviously he was able to step in and fine tune an already good team but I'm not so sure he can take a young, bad team and make them good. He's never shown that he can that I know of. Might be a good coach but not in every situation.

Aaaannnnddd as usual, changing the perimeters of the argument.

Nope go back and read what I said. I specifically mentioned that QBs matter more than ever, implying the era.

You're being dense if you don't at least acknowledge that a team can win with a great QB alone in today's NFL.

Rodgers has been winning in spite of McCarthy for years.

Wouldn't be the worst possible HC candidate to bring in. However, remember that he lost to Wilks in a game where their season was on the line. Tough pill.

The is an excellent point. I am not sure Billacheat would be the cheater he is today if he didn't fall into the right situation. I mean he couldn't build Cleveland into a consistent winner.

Aaron Rodgers Regularly Changed Mike McCarthy's Playcalls at Line of Scrimmage

Sports Illustrated's Kalyn Kahler[/a] and Albert Breer.

"[Rodgers changes plays] so often that it can be hard for McCarthy to get into a rhythm as the play caller," Kahler wrote. "McCarthy might call the same play three times in a game, without the play actually being run as he called it. And if McCarthy calls a play that Rodgers doesn’t like early in the game, that can sour the mood for the rest of the game."

Kahler and Breer both reported that the playcalling changes turned into a competition over who can call the better play.

"It’s almost ‘who’s got the better call?'" one anonymous coach told Breer. "Two really smart guys, ultra-competitive guys.”

A lack of talent on the roster, offseason coaching changes and a recent three-game skid further contributed to the Packers' decline. On Sunday, Packers executive Mark Murphy ultimately decided it was time to move on and get a head start on a coaching search.

The Packers are on track to miss the playoffs for the second straight season and for the first time with a healthy Rodgers since 2008. Joe Philbin will serve as the team's interim head coach for the remainder of the season.
If Rodgers and Rosen are buddies this may not be good news if one wants McCarthy as the Cardinals next HC but it does open up the possibility that McCarthy might be both a beneficiary and victim of having Rodgers as his QB.

That's hogwash. Then why is he losing this year?

In a related piece of news, Winston Moss, Mc Carthy's "top" assistant has been terminated after tweeting about Rodgers.

Ponder this... what Championship teams have are great leadership! Period! It’s not the offensive guru trend, it’s not the safe trend. Find somebody that is going to hold #12 and everybody in this building to a #LombardiStandard! Period! #losingsucks!

Wouldn't be a part of new staff anyway and assured himself a job with M M if and when he gets one.

I seem to recall a lot of the same type of stuff swirling around Favre during his messy divorce from the Packers. Is it something the organization is doing, I wonder? But it sure seems like Rodgers might be a big part of the problem.
