Watching this team play it's quite obvious that we are a very poor defensive team but it's equally apparent that we are very inefficient on offense too. One defender isn't going to change our fortune much, we need improvement across the board from every player. And we definitely don't need a defense only or even a defense heavy player unless we can find a big that can shut down the paint.
But you have to start somewhere, right? Isn't the attitude of "well, one defensive guy isn't going to help us so might as well go with the offensive wunderkind" outdated for this team?

I wasn't trying to say that at all. I just pointed out that defense isn't what we lack, quality basketball is what we lack and that's on both sides of the ball. Also, defensive specialists are typically bench guys in today's game. It's too easy to stifle an offense if you have even one defensive specialist in the game and if you're going that route, a strong rim protector brings the most to the table IMO.

But to the point you're suggesting I'm making - yes, I think adding a great offensive weapon to this team would impact the win count much more than adding a great defensive weapon. One strong defender would just get eaten up by all the missed assignments of everyone else.

Our defense needs to be addressed by improving each position, good team defense depends on all 5 players. And if we go in search of defense other than a rim protector, it needs to be found in a player that can hold his own offensively IMO.

A tradition unlike any other: The infamous 3-minute run at #Suns predraft workouts. Malik Monk got to 25.

25 times 94 feet is just over half a mile. I can't run a half-mile in 3 minutes, but I wouldn't expect it to be a big deal for an NBA guard. Does the back-and-forth make that much of a difference?

I think the bigger issue is that they have already gone through a rigorous workout before the sprint, so they start out already exhausted.

Yes. There's a reason suicides are called "suicides". (Even though technically, these weren't suicides)

Oh yes. The amount of energy that it takes to stop momentum going one direction and then get back up to speed the other. It adds alot.

How far would you get in a three minute run if you just had to stop and start every 94 feet?

Measures endurance, effort and heart. Plus if you're guarding a PG who is primarily bringing the ball up the court then yeah it makes a difference, especially of you are playing full court press.

Gambo reported today the Suns already worked out Isaac in secret in Las Vegas, which is why we had a few days without workouts.

Agent insisted workout be private, in Las Vegas, and with no media.

He could slip to 32 easily.

Well I believe the Suns are looking at potentially trading back so they are working out some guys that are lower in the draft. McDonough has already said he likes around 10 players.

I don't think they are looking at trading back. This draft is really level in the 15-35 range. Any player could end up anywhere. They could combine second rounders and move up a few spots.
