The Suns were not ready to play tonight or even compete. No excuse in my book. Plus that, the Suns were not even entertaining. It was ugly basketball all night. Another good draft might help the Suns but their problems are far deeper. They need a coaching strategy other than come down and shoot the ball.

Yeah, I agree. Watson is not good at Xs and Os or player development. If he is good at motivation, it wasn't apparent tonight. Why did we need to sign him to a three-year contract? Why not one or two? Who else was looking to hire him?

Your question is legitimate. I think most fans on the Suns forum did not like the hire.

Here is an article from azcentral on the mixed feelings of fans about the hire.

Wow. Talk about setting the tone. I wonder if we'll break the record again this season.

Anything is possible.

It's only one game but the Suns did not come to play.

The loss would likely had been worse if McCollum was not suspended.

I thought it was a good game...I feel pretty satisfied.

Wonder if it would be possible to bring in Majerle from GCU next season after we finish our tank

Shhhh... don't say the "T" word right now...they are pretty sensitive to that.

Just call them losers...that's perfectly acceptable.

I am sorry. I have been willing to give Watson his chance. But a whole season of this can destroy a franchise. Watson's job should be hanging by a thread right now. Honestly I am not sure how interested I am anymore. Watching that is just painful. I am not that much of a masochist.

Yeah this was pretty mind blowing. They were down a starter and this was a home opener for Pete's sake. I mean...did we just play Golden State??

I seriously doubt Majerle would consider a head coaching job with the Suns after the way he was treated in the job interview process. However, NBA head coaching jobs are hard to come by so who knows.

Here is a link to an article about it.

He wouldn't turn down an NBA job for GCU no matter how disrespected he felt during the Blanks tenure. I think the wounds were too fresh when Hornecek was hired.

You may well be right. However, I think if Majerle had two NBA head coaching job offers, he would take the other job. Just my opinion, although I do not know his family situation.

The Suns could get the "top" player in the draft and it wouldn't matter. Opener not sold out (or at least not well attended), terrible effort, ready-made excuses. My favorite franchise is not finished sinking.

Sadly this may be the case.

If the Suns continue to play the way they did tonight, even they got the first pick in next year's draft, they appear years away from competing.

Well let's not be hasty. They are a young team. Plus drafting high can turn the franchise around... eventually.

Yeah... I was actually kinda excited to watch tonight, recorded the game on NBA League Pass Free Preview, watched about ten minutes before I was painfully bored with them down 7 points. I fast forwarded to halftime and they were down 35. That was pretty much it for me.

Nothing like starting and ending the season before halftime of Game 1!

The Suns lost by 48 points tonight.

If Gambo is right, this is the worst Suns loss in team history.

This will come as a shocker to most of this board, but Gambo is wrong.

The Suns lost in Sacramento by 55, 140-85, on April 17, 1989.

It is their biggest home loss, however, and ties their second-worst lost -- which was also in Sacramento, oddly enough.

Yeah but in the end a loss is just a loss....no matter the points.

Just flush it.

Wonder how much longer Uncle Earl is going to nurture along Chriss' development. Bender's "skills" were clearly overrated coming into the draft but the guy is pretty active out there. He's just so weak and doesn't know what to do.

Nope, Gambo is correct. The game you are referencing was a Suns win. This was our worst defeat in team history.

Here are our worst losses in team history:

48 points - 10/18/17 - Portland Trail Blazers 124, Phoenix Suns 76
44 points - 04/27/97 - Seattle SuperSonics 122, Phoenix Suns 78 (playoff game)
44 points - 04/02/88 - Seattle SuperSonics 151, Phoenix Suns 107
41 points - 03/10/71 - Atlanta Hawks 139, Phoenix Suns 98
40 points - 02/22/16 - Los Angeles Clippers 124, Phoenix Suns 84
40 points - 04/25/91 - Detroit Pistons 117, Phoenix Suns 77
