This is why I would like to see Gentry fired. Too many times the Suns come out looking mediocre against awful teams. We come out unprepared and that is the HC's fault.

And please don't try to give me some BS about how the Raptors are way more talented that the Suns. Their not.

It could be argued that the Raptors have equal or better talent than the Suns. For example, Lowry and Calderon are more than Dragic and Telfair.

I agree, I think it's pretty much a toss-up. Neither team has a clear cut advantage IMO.

So we are the Toronto of the West. :)

It sort of puts things in perspective.

Close enough. Maybe we just aspire to be the Toronto of the West. Newsflash people, we aren't very good.:) I think it's reasonable to assume that every team we play is looking at us and thinking this is our chance to get well.

The Suns do not have a calling card. It's certainly not offense like in the past nor defense. Also they do not have a star player. They are the tofu of the basketball world.

IMO, you do not deserve to win if you think Scola is your go-to guy. I can't believe we couldn't call a better play than the Scola back-down and throw up a weak prayer.

Ninja refs on that Brown drive. I'm sure they were there but no one saw them.

Yeah I don't really have a big problem with today's game. That's about what we are. Unfortunately, we've played and lost to several of the teams that are on or near our level and we've got much tougher opponents coming up.

Yup, December is absolutely going to be brutal. I imagine win% wise, we'll be in the bottom 5 of the league after December. If somehow we aren't it will be a miracle.

Also, Brown was hit on the ******** head. I don't know how you don't call that a foul. You are supposed to reward players with a foul when they are aggressive, taking it to the basket, and then knocked on their ass. It's how the game works.

If the Suns end up firing Gentry during the season I hope they hire Dan Majerle as interim coach so they can get that idea out of their system. The Suns need to find a good HC for next season that has a philosophy.

It was clearly a foul. Eddie was harping on the play before but that was pretty minimal and I'm not surprised nothing was called but Brown went strong to the hoop and was hit hard. The guy didn't even try for the ball so I'm shocked the refs let it go. My guess, they figured why bother. Two teams going nowhere, just let the game end so these good people in the stands can get home and get some sleep.

Well, the Suns chose Michael Beasley to be our leading scorer and go-to man. He's hardly on the floor with the game on the line any more.

Not in retrospect, but at the time, was it our bad luck or a bad decision? He was our second choice as Team Savior. Was anyone better available?

Sure, there were lots of better options but none with the ceiling that Beasley has (with the possible exception of Mayo). It's just that Beasley's floor is so low and it's highly doubtful he'll ever approach his potential. Still, I can see the draw. If somehow the light went on and he played up to that potential we'd have lucked into one of the game's best.

At least he uses full sentences. ;)

I'm trying to master the one word sentence, for years I've seen it in use on the internets but it's always eluded me.

I have this theory about Eddie. I think a lot of us fell in love with the guy in large part because he was not Dan Majerle. As the years have rolled by we've become a little more critical of him as the memory of Thunder Dan as an announcer has slowly faded from our consciousness. Now, though, his performance stands on it's own and as he is paired with a horrible play-by-play guy it's easy to rip them both individually and as a team. It's probably made even easier because we're already a little critical in the first place because of the product they are covering.

Wow, just seconds ago, I posted on the Steve Albert thread about the frustration EJ must be feeling in having to cover for him. And how EJ will probably have had enough by the end of this long season.

I don't see how that matters. Eddie seemed to think it was correct but I've never heard of continuation extending past the clock. If the foul occurred before the shot and time ran out before the shot left his hand, I would have expected the shot to not count and two free throws awarded instead. I would have been positive about that except the refs know the rule book better than I do and they gave him the basket and one so I don't know.

Steve

He was clearly fouled before the clock hit zero/the backboard light came on. What happened was a foul was called/the whistle blew with tenths of a second left on the clock. As soon as that foul is called the clock should stop but you still would then have the continuation of the play resulting in the made basket +1. It is why after review they put .3 on the clock and the Suns had to inbound the ball.

I think it was a bad decision. The Suns needed a SG more than a SF. If I were going to gamble on a player, I would have chosen Mayo. I think planning on Dudley or later Brown being the starting SG was a mistake. Meeks would have been a good signing on the cheap.

I don't think it went down that way. My guess, we'd have been thrilled to give Mayo a long term contract in the neighborhood of Beasley's deal but his camp wanted substantially more. We were probably never in the running for a one year deal. If you were Mayo, would you take a make-good deal in Phoenix if a similar one was available in Dallas?

I would have offered Mayo a contract similar to Dragic if he would have taken it. Also I would have felt better about it than the Beasley signing.
