Correction. Out of ALL the turnovers we create, the ONLY ones that ANYBODY remembers is the ones committed by Penny. That is a fact, especially on this board.

Everybody on the Phoenix Suns commits turnovers at times in the game. Everybody has committed some careless turnovers at times. But Penny Hardaway does it 1-2 times every game no matter how well he is playing. It just happens and usually in the fourth quarter. He did it twice tonight in the fourth quarter leading to open core baskets for Seattle. JJ did it in the first quarter.

Can't you say that about almost every single player in the NBA? Or more specifically, every point guard in the NBA? Right now, we have 5 guys with 2 turnovers each, including Penny. What does that have to do with the price of tea in China? Nothing really--but I find it hypocritical to always point out Penny's "1-2" turnovers per game and not anyone elses. Although JJ is starting to be scrutinized like that, those "1-2" turnovers by Penny are being used to actually prove that JJ is a better player. And that just isn't true.

Yes because Penny telegraphes his passes and his turnovers lead to an open layup within 5 seconds of his turnovers before the Suns can even make an attempt to get back on defense.

And JJ hit important shots down the stretch as well. Marion is shooting worse than JJ.

And JJ has way less experience than any of those guys.

Also regarding Penny, you better be awesome offensive if that's the only end of the court that you spend energy in.

I would LOVE to see you try to prove your point. Which of course, you can't.

I'd also like to see you try to prove that the other player's turnovers DON'T lead to easy scores on the other end. Which of course, you can't as well.

Good point. He's been hitting some clutch shots in OT tonight.

I don't make these observations about Hardaway's turnovers as part of a Hardaway/JJ argument. I wish D'Antoni would get JJ the hell out of the game right now. He has been awful in the last few minutes, and they are clearly missing Hardaway's shooting. I think this is a huge mistake.

That said, I don't think anybody needs to get so defensive about us pointing out Hardaway's bad turnovers.

Of course I can, just watch some tapes.

You hardly ever see NBA players telegraph passes like that , that lead to immediate fastbreak points.

Penny Hardaway does it every game. Twice against Sacramento and twice today.

That's at least 4 points the Suns gave up defensively in both games and cost them their posessions as well.

Unfortunately, Joe, you're mistaken. I simply was wondering why every game (yes, every single game), Penny's few turnovers are always the difference to some people--whether it is used to compare his game with JJ or not.

I'm not defensive. I'm right. There's a difference.

Ok David Stern. And no, I don't believe you one bit--you go into games actually looking for Penny's turnovers and you absolutely ignore any others. Talk about Sacramento all you want, there were a couple people (JJ and Steph) who even had MORE turnovers than Penny.

I think it's hilarious the way some of you guys go on about this. Sure, turnovers are bad, but you guys make it out to be something a lot more than it is.

See, and this is the way you respond. Proof positive that I'm right again! :D

Don't be such a baby. I have a point, and if you choose to ignore it, that's fine. I hate turnovers, just as you do--I just disagree with your attempts to tear down one player and no others for lame reasons.

Because the others don't throw the ball into the lap of our opposition every freaking game in the 4th quarter at least once.

It just doesn't happen.

Yep, it was a turnover by Penny. Luckily, Shawn Marion was there to cover his idiocy.

I'm not really sure what JJ was doing in there in the OT session.

I don't mean to be crude or childish at all, but I'm really beginning to think that Joe Johnson must give really good head.

LOL. Good one chap. :)

I can't speak for other people, but I just point out Hardaway's turnovers because it is really the same thing every game. It is 1-2 careless turnovers late in the third or during the fourth quarter. It happens EVERY SINGLE GAME. Other Phoenix Suns turned the ball over. Other Phoenix Suns turned the ball over more often. Is just that Hardaway doesn't the same way every time, and it almost always leads to a fast-break basket. By no means am I saying that makes him an awful player, and JJ should get his playing time. On the contrary I have been very frustrated with JJ this season.

I really like D'Antoni. I thought he made a mistake by not having Hardaway in the game for most of the overtime, and I think it almost cost them the game.

I'm watching the sports report on Fox sports right now. They are talking about whether D'Antoni should be replaced by a big-name head coach after this season or even during it. Frankly it's awful timing given that nice victory. The other problem I have is that people tend to get hung up on these big names. Mike Fratello, Pat Riley, Doc Rivers, etc. I'm sorry, but none of them excite me. To this date and nobody has been able to tell me what makes a Rivers such a good coach. Cotton just got done saying the same thing about these big names. He basically said the media doesn't know much.

I hope Scott Williams is not seriously injured. The Phoenix Suns desperately need him right now. They definitely played their best basketball with him on the floor tonight.

That was just a great game.

How could that not be taken as crude or childish? After my comments and couple weeks ago about your lengthy bathroom time I'll have to let this one go however. :)

I think JJ was definitely in the game for his defense, but they should have had Hardaway in there for the offense whether he was replacing JJ or Jacobsen. That was just a spectacular pass and finish at the end. Did anyone else think there should have been a foul called on that alley-oop?
