Absolutely they can, and should. Cheesebeef was talking about the Suns as one of the most successful franchises.

Only the obtuse measure success by one thing. This is an undisputed fact:

Only 1 team in the valley this year will have a winning record. The Suns.

Go jockey whatever team you wish. If you want to be a Laker fan, then do it. Your constant attempts to tear down the Suns this last week has made you look uninformed and spiteful.

Ahhh....Suns fans....forever classy.

Right it is so much more classy to carry out a vendetta against the Suns because you just want to taunt the fans.

I would surmise it is no coincidence you do this right after another crushing loss by the Cardinals. Misery loves company eh? That is what I meant by spiteful.

I predicted the loss and am used to losing.

Suns haven't won anything...and people act like they have....bottom line.

I am sure that Suns fans are well aware of their lack of championship. I am sure they are acutely aware of it as a matter of fact. What exactly are you trying to accomplish here NEZ?

You keep bringing up the same point over and over just to piss off part of this message board. Why? What has you so angry that you feel you need to tweak the nose of part of this community?

How can you seriously make that claim?? The Golden State Warriors have more titles than the Suns.

you are the one who started with the comparisons between the Cards and the Suns wondering why the Suns get "a free pass" -- when the Cardinals achieve the level of success that the Suns have over the last 25 years, maybe people won't rip them for being the laughingstock that they are. At least the Suns try.

And again - no one is talking about GREATNESS. There are only so many teams that have ever won the title in the NBA since the Suns came into existence. We're talking about success and being able to put a product on the court year in and year out that is a winner, has been to two NBA Finals and numerous WCF and has very few off-the-field problems (and when they do, the situations is rectified IMMEDIATELY - see the drug-scandal) and is one of the most respected franchises in all of sports means you have a modicum of success - period.

who acts like that? People act like the Suns are a far superior franchise to the Cardinals - which they are.

let me ask Nez and Renz this - if the Cardinals had won 10 games this year, but lost in the playoffs, would you have said it was a successful season?

Is Andy Reid not a successful coach? Are the Philadelphia Eagles not a successful franchise? Was Bill Cowher not a successful coach before last year? Is Tony Dungy not a successful coach?

If the Cards won 10 games it would be the equivalent of a championship for most Cardinal fans.

What I took issue with was your statement: "Maybe it's because (the Suns) franchise is one of the most successful franchises in the NBA". I took that to mean that PHX is one of the most successful franchises in NBA history. To me, a team will never be one of the most successful w/out ever winning a championship.

Maybe we are arguing different points. That wouldn't be the first time that has happened on this board.

we are arguing different points. I'm talking about the last 20 years - to have sustained competitive basketball, making the playoffs 18 of 20 years, going to an NBA Finals and 5 WCF is a successful run, playoffs or not.

besides, everything in this debate is relative to the Cards and why the Suns are apparently treated with more respect than the most pathetic team in ALL OF SPORTS. Nez framed the debate, I just answered it.

Hmmmmmm..... The only team that can crow is the Champion. Every team in every sport ends in some degree of heartbreak, every year, except the champion.

My goal as a Cards fan is to win the SB. 10-6 shows me that we were taking steps in the right direction. Encouraging....not successful.

I don't believe the only barometer for judging a team's success is championships. Professional sports is a business first, people don't buy into teams for the sole reason to lead the team to a championship. Maybe Mark Cuban used to think of the Mavs as his toy but now he is all about the business

You have a lot of championship-less teams in the league and they are still money making machines. Maybe not as much as the NFL teams but there is still money to be made with or without the trophies...... especially if you factor in cities willingness to bond out or give teams stadiums to play in for little or no out of pocket money. Compared to teams like the Clippers, the Suns are a complete success.

These owners have it pretty good.... they have people that live and die by their product and get into fights on internet messageboards about their businesses. These owners could give two ***** about you and or ever winning a championship. People like the Bidwills, Carl Pohlad, Jeffrey Loria, etc could careless if they ever win a championship as long as they are gettting their revenue sharing and TV money

I wonder if the Suns will be unveiling their "2005-2006 Western Conference Finals Participant" banner tonight against the Clippers.

:D

I would have bumped this thread up had the Suns lost, but that is just me.

I save my smack for when I'm losing. As a Cards fan, I talk smack a lot.
