YES! I know everyone say Johnson is a bust and he is @ the pick he was made, but this kid brings some major upside and if we bring him off the bench and give him time to develope we are going to see some good things from him.

According to Wojnarowski, Minny might be getting Dyson and multiple draft picks in return as well as cap relief.

Btw, Warrick was in the final year of his contract.

He has one more year after this one. I don't think it was a team option or at least I can't find specifics that says anything other than it was a full contract.

I agree with your thinking.

Who will be providing the draft picks worry me.

Nah, I cant imagine we are getting a 1st from Minny... and then giving them a 1st, it wouldnt make sense. If Minny is getting any draft picks its coming from New Orleans.

At the begining of this offseason I wanted them to try and get Wes, his situation reminds me alot of what JJ was going through with the C's that year. He has WAY more hops than JJ, but his shooting is not even close.

But I doubt the Suns pick up his 4th year option (they must do so before start of this season) which means he will be a free agent next summer.

It's been reported that the final year is non-guaranteed.

I am going to have to wait to see this finalized, but from what sounds like it would be a great deal for the Suns to get younger and more athletic at the backup 2/3 slot. I wonder if Blatche is on the radar for a 4/5.

Would make sense as money in FA has for the most part dried up. Possibly a 1 year deal as it would be best for both sides

This is supposed to be part of Lance Blanks job, scouting players already in the NBA. Perhaps the Suns have already decided they will pick up his fourth year option.

But that option will cost $5.5M. That would be equivalent to signing him as a free agent this summer for 2-years/$10M, which seems much more than what he would warrant in the market.

Also, picking up his option would reduce the Suns cap next summer significantly. It would almost certainly prevent them from being able to offer a max contract.

Thing with Wes is he was supposed to be a polished player coming out of college, probably was the oldest guy taken in the draft (25 already only 2 years in). That he has looked so lost on the NBA level is a really bad sign.

Again, I love the trade, but I am not going to expect anything more than a contract dump at the end of the year from Wes. If he turns it around... then great! A cherry on the sundae, but I wont get my hopes up.

If we really manage to get a first round pick for Lopez, and dump Warrick in the process, I will be really impressed.

I could see them resigning him next year instead of going with the option. Something close to what Brown got but maybe 1-2 more years, if can show he is learning the game.

I wouldn't argue the math, but perhaps Blanks feels strongly about his upside.

Anyway, it's just fun to think about the options. The Suns would have plenty of pieces to do a sign and trade for a significant player or clear space.

This would be a MASSIVELY good trade in the Suns favor. It's not a high impact trade, obviously, but what a stellar move in terms of flexibility and rebuilding potential. I would LOVE this trade if it happens.

Still not official yet, am still going to have to hold off until it is a done deal. But you know my feelings about the FO. :)

I think they are clever in trades, still bone headed in free agency.

Excited for Lopez's contract details to come out. Could potentially make this trade high comedy.

What do you guys think the terms will be?

I HOPE its 3 years 21 mil... but I am gunna guess, 3 years 16 with the 3rd year being a team option.

Uh, signing Blatche, even for free, with Beasley in our locker room (who I am willing to give all the chance in the world to) would be really really really stupid.

True, but like Brown he will be an unrestricted free agent. The only reason the Suns were able to re-sign Brown to a reasonable contract is because he didn't really do a whole lot last season so he didn't generate much interest from other teams. Should Johnson have a breakout year for whatever reason, he would likely get much more money from someone else next summer.

This trade is only as good as the draft pick the Suns get in return. I would certainly hope that of all picks moved in this deal, the Suns end up with the best one as they probably gave up the most (which wasn't a whole lot, but still).
