I'm not as enthused about the Suns giving up a lot for a 34 year old Durant as I once was.

Obtaining another rotation power forward shouldn't be nearly as expensive.
I am feeling the same way.

Keeping our younger guys and picks seems like a better and better idea when we are seemingly still one of the best teams in the league.

Yeah, I'm not ready for the Suns to rebuild the Nets when there may be just as effective ways for the Suns to contend.

Yep. Players at KD's age tend to fall off a cliff, especially with the injury history he has had.

Really? That’s why crowder decided to defiantly announce on twitter he will not be at training camp?

That is not how a player the suns told not to show up would act.
Crowder announced on Twitter that he was no longer wanted.

I really want to know the story of what's going on with the Crowder situation. There has to be more to it than, "Hey, Cam is starting, and we'll talk about your extension next summer." There is no way that Crowder is this butt-hurt over a normal business decision, right?

It doesn't require Mikal or Ayton to get salaries to work but it would require Craig and Shamet also being included and then you're talking 5 for 1 but I would imagine Brooklyn would throw in some minimum salary guys so they didn't have to waive them like Nader when he was included in the CP3 deal.

Of course if you're Phoenix then you do that deal, a bunch of role players for KD is a no brainer but I doubt Brooklyn would bite. Perhaps Brooklyn has more interest in DA now that they could acquire him and wouldn't be hard capped like a sign and trade would do. There was talk that is why they didn't want DA and not necessarily his talent. Being hard capped for a year would hurt a team like Brooklyn that doesn't operate like there's a luxury tax because they're in a major market and don't need to worry about things other teams do.
There is just no way a Durant trade happens without Mikal. The Nets do not want and cannot use all those players in a 5 for 1 and they cannot send back more role players because that unbalances the salaries in the trade. The Suns would have go out and sign D-leagers just to fill out the roster. Mikal is a big part of the present teams' chemistry. Chemistry is a tricky thing.

If a Durant trade happens, I could see it happening after Ayton is eligible to be traded. It would then be Ayton and Crowder plus a couple picks for Durant. Brooklyn fans could swallow getting a top-ten center for durant rather than just scrubs. Landale would then slide into the starting rotation (not sure he can handle that) and Biz would be the back up.

I was wrong about CP3. I can be wrong about this.

If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.

Paul expiring with give us zero cap space. It will get us out of the luxury tax but it will have no impact on our ability to bring in outside talent.
If your trying to stay below the luxury tax and have flexibility enjoy not being a real contender

Sure he is forcing his way out, that is clear.

That doesn’t mean the Suns are happy about it, it only means they think trying to force him on the team would be more of a distraction than it is worth, and they are right.
Evidently, it's not. The Suns have not denied Crowder's alleged claim that he is not forcing himself out it either.

That isn't what I am trying to do... I am merely noting that Paul's expiring contract will grant us exactly zero ability to sign free agents because we'll still be over the cap.

Welcome to the NBA in 2022.

Would people pay more for a guy that has miss time and wouldn’t we want someone who can gel with the team asap?

Yes I’d like someone sooner than later but if it hasn’t happened already I think more towards the deadline as teams are looking to make moves and there will better opportunities as the playoff picture become a bit more clear.

Also around December 15th, newly signed free agents will be eligible to be traded which should add some options.

I'm thinking something happens between December 15 and Christmas. Top of my wishlist is a deal with Cleveland that brings Rubio back to Phoenix. Salaries don't match but if Osman is included then it could work.

Unless he’s traded for useful pieces so the acquiring team can take advantage of the huge contract when we cannot.

Yes, this is true, and something we hopefully could pull off.

Something like, Paul and some amount of picks to Oklahoma for SGA, Oklahoma then declining Paul's option years, is something that would seem realistic, OKC gets to continue to tank, gets picks and takes on very little salary.

What the heck does that mean?

Is he saying he is coming back to the team?

The main word I took from the tweet was the word "soon."

Hopefully the resolution to this matter is not far off. Why say anything if not?

Lol comments on twitter are funny.. people saying its Crowder's burner account..

The comments are occasionally the best part. Every once in a great while one will find a tidbit of information.

What's interesting to me, is Crowder wanted to say something.

That sounds about right. Who the heck would complain about not being able to buy a Suns Crowder jersey right now?
