My concern for us now is Bol. Did he have an ankle injury. Came back. And now a foot injury? Is it the same foot/leg? I worry because of his size.

We can’t have nice things.

I hope the Suns can figure out getting another rotation guy (I don't see how). Allen would be your best bet but he is shooting lights out. If not for him we are not even in that game last night against the Kinds let alone hanging on long enough for the run that won the game. Also, even if we get a rotation guy it isn't going to solve our defense. As much as I like Nurk for being aggressive around the basket on the opposite end I absolutely cringe with him on defense. Guys just don't respect his defense around the rim. Nobody is intimidated by him in the paint. Time and time again I just see guys do layup drills around him like he is not even there. A 7-3 clip might be an indication of who this team can really be but we are in the hole right now. Still think we need another solid rotation player.

One of my biggest concerns about making the KD trade at that time was that we simply didn't have the assets to acquire him and still build out the roster. We're seeing that now but IMO, we've come much closer to building out a contending roster than I ever thought possible. Vogel just has to get better at using what he has.

Nurk's weaknesses have always been known, there's a time to play him and there's a time to sit him. Frank seems slow to recognize that.

We need to ride more with Metu, Udoka and some of the other rotation players. Most of those guys are better on paper than they've looked in games but I still believe we have a better chance of creating a rotation player that helps us by developing and properly utilizing those guys than we do of acquiring someone from outside. The hole we create by trading Allen is likely to be greater than whoever we can get in trade for him.

I agree with your first two paragraphs.

Only if there is a chance the Suns could lose Allen in UFA, should they consider trading him.

I don't have a lot of confidence Udoka and Metu as the answer.

I can't agree with this as it is. Change it to, only if the Suns have given up all hope of winning a title with this group and there is a chance we'll lose him in UFA and I'd be there with you. I think it's a mistake to make any move that doesn't make us better in the short run (this year and next) until we decide there's no hope.

I'd be a bit more amenable to an Allen trade if Gordon was a bit more consistent. Unfortunately he's been hot and cold, and when he's cold, he doesn't do anything else to benefit the team. Allen, even when his shot is off, is a better defender and playmaker than EG is at this point.

Hard no on any trade involving Allen.
You trade the parts that aren't working for parts that may work.
Allen is a awesome fit next to the big 3.
We would have to get Mikal back in trade to get me onboard. lol

Grayson is untouchable by role player standards the same way Raja was untouchable. Meaning there’s nothing you can get for him that’s a clear upgrade over what he provides. He’s got a higher offensive rating per 100 than Book and KD because of his shooting. Hell last night they’re down by 35 at halftime without him.

I agree, Allen is almost untradeable. He is close to star level.

Believe me, he would be my last option to trade. This is why you see me mention players that fly under the radar, like Duop Reath.

However, unless the Suns feel they will lose him in free agency and they can get a player or two they need to win a title would I consider it.

The Suns presently don't have all the pieces they need to win a championship.

Forward/center is their biggest weakness. Durant can't keep playing center except in small ball situations. It's risky business because of injury.

The Suns do have enough shooting though, especially if Damion Lee returns healthy.

Man...I just don't see how the Suns could move him the way he is shooting right now. Maybe that is short term thinking but he is on fire.

Him being on fire should open more opportunities to trade him. We need a big and while Allen has been huge for us we need someone who can rebound and stretch the floor. Who knows if someone will overpay for Allen due to his hot streak but I'll give JJ credit for seeing what's out there.

You really want to lose someone of his value for nothing?

Look if we can get a good player back in another position of need - we already have 3 other shooting guards - and he won't commit to resigning with us, then I think trading him is the smart move.

Personally I no longer believe this team can compete for the title, which means getting everything possible from our existing assets is extremely important.

It is short term thinking. If he just leaves in free agency after we miss the playoffs or lose in the first round, you won't feel so much like it was a good idea to refuse to trade him.

I just don't see it unfortunately. I've said it before, the first game after trading Grayson we are going to be screaming that we shouldn't have traded him.

The gravity of the Big 3 is MADE for players like Grayson Allen, and there are simply not enough rim protecting players that stretch the floor that will provide as much as what Grayson is providing right now. He's literally the perfect compliment to the big 3 at this moment and can honestly start being considered the 4th of a big 4. I think our first priority is getting him extended. If there is no chance of that, then look at trading him, but we won't get what everyone wants us to get for him.

I am a little surprised Indiana made this move. I don't think it's enough to get them into serious contention and he is not really a young player anymore.

But I am happy he is staying in the East.

It definitely is short term thinking. But that's what we should be concerned with until we call it quits. IOW, when I am ready to trade Allen I'd also be ready to trade KD, Booker and anyone else with value. In the meantime, if someone offers us a mobile big man that is good enough to start on a championship contender, I might consider moving Allen but that's quite a longshot.
